  • Hi Friends! We have family flying in to visit soon, and I need to make space in the guest closet. But it's filled with art supplies. In this video I discuss my non-zero waste hobby, as I clear out and organize the closet.
Thank you so much for watching!

Great job. I need to organize my art supplies too. Very overwhelming just thinking about it. I'm very impressed with your redo. Can't wait to see your new decor in the guest bedroom!

Eco-friendly, sustainable, zero-waste - or minimalist. These are 4 distinct and different words whose related activities support each other but are exclusive from each other. This said, despite how much money you spent on them or not, begin to consider how many years of supplies do you own and at what production rate. As you prepare for your guests (the mind needs places to go when you're dusting, cleaning, and vacuuming) start thinking how you're going to carve out some very definite crafting time, actually consume some of you're "stuff", maybe concentrate on completely consuming individual bundles of items, and whether you're ready to pass anything along.

Doing this video and going through my art supplies has sparked my creativity, and I want to start using up some of my paints and supplies. I’m also feeling more ready to go through every bead so I can pass them on. I enjoy painting and crafting so much, but would really love to have it a little more on the minimal side.

@@BeccaDoesStuffYT Due to space constraints originally, I tend to concentrate on instruction set collections. With time I've realized that a design or look comes only in specific eras and that when it is revisited, the nuances of a retro look often just aren't the same as the original or the ones we remember. I've also found, over time, the collective we end up cherishing then not actively using some of our materials/ supplies until we have upto a hoard of "special stuff" we are reluctant to use unwisely so don't use hardly at all. For myself, going through and touching, feeling, seeing, and re-visiting my crafting, art type (I'm not an artist), and diy "stuff" gets me enthused about using it/ more of it. Over time, I've discovered that for myself enthusiasm should not be used to generically as a rationalization to collect more "stuff" whether its free or not; its ok to collect more once I've used or divested myself of some of the stuff I already own however. - This approach is wholly seperate from anything at all related to modern zero-waste, minimalism, eco-friendly, etc... It begins with simply only having so much storage space and with personal age a realization it is possible to own too many materials to ever use in a lifetime; even if you've culled to the very nicest of lovelies. Further, in terms of zero waste, saving things from the landfill, and being frugal one must come to a realization that as an individual you and your abode cannot save the planet on your own as there isn't enough room nor time for all that is available or possible; even if its good or excellent stuff.
