One of my friend scared his group by pretending hes a human paladin and when they were fighting like this big ass lich he just went full old testament and scared them to death
Hey same except my dm decided that this would be the case after I said "ohh vengeance paladin can go full angel of death on everyone" and he had me take the extra skill points that the scourge has "as its good for paladin over taking one point to everything. And then basically made the feature pop up when my character got super angry at someone who betrayed his holy oder. Still one of my favourite moments I've had in dnd
My aasimar paladin was never told what he is and just thought he was a human with a talent for healing. We had a npc goblin helping the party get melted by a dragon, so his radiant consumption kicked in because of anger
I'm considering an Aasimar for my next character. Was going to have him be the opposite of my tiefling, so instead of constantly worrying about falling to corruption and evil, he's convinced that since he is half angel anything he does is inherently good. It's sorta like a twist on what Nixon said: "I'm saying if an Aasimar does it, that means it's NOT evil."
Doctor Drew Cool idea. I played my Aasimar as pissed off at his Angelic Guide for telling him where to go, lecturing him, and the pressure to act like a saint (he didn’t look human, but instead similar to the Grey-skinned angel in the MM) due to his looks. God looking back he was so sassy and sarcastic. Best character I’ve madeZ
One of my favourite characters was in Pathfinder, a Lawful Evil Aasimar who knew what he was, knew everyone else knew what he was, and played the world like a fiddle because everyone just assumed he was good- he'd even worked with an order of Paladins for a month, and not one of them even considered searching his aura.
I think a lot of what they said is contingent on the human view of hearing a voice. As an Aasimar, you were born with this angelic guide. There shouldn't be any insanity or annoyance with the voice. That is your normal. An Aasimar should feel empty or alone if they DON'T hear that voice or feel that presence. It's why the Fallen Aasimar are so intense. They actually chose to cast off that voice. Something really bad had to have happened to them to make them decide to do that. What impossible choice did their guide give them? And why did the Aasimar choose to go against it?
As an expansion to Dave's idea of the Aasimar who doesn't want to sleep so they can avoid their angel. There is a warlock invocation to keep you awake permanently called Aspect of the moon. Maybe an Aasimar who isn't evil takes a pact with an Archfey to keep them hidden away from their guardian angel because they want to shirk responsibility. I imagine having an Aasimar in their collection would be a pleasant curiousity for nearly any archfey.
You could also go an Undying One pact. there is nothing evil about Balenorns and an aasimar my turn to one to help defend a mutual home. Not sure if they are powerful enough to be a patron though.
My Protector Aasimar Life Cleric Rhialla (Razi'ela to everyone but a select few) has been running or hiding most of her life at this point because of the whole "brownie points for bad guys" thing. She wears a mask much like a Scourge aasimar does to hide her eyes (they're silver), but otherwise can pass herself off as a very attractive tan, red-haired half-elf...who was raised by Sea Dwarves. It's such a fun reaction when someone thinks she should know elvish but she's clueless to anything that isn't Dwarvish, common, or celestial. I also decided, since it doesn't say they have to be angelic for the bloodline, her dad is a coatl so she has shimmery scales on her shoulders (which stay covered thank you very much). She doesn't know anything about her parents though. Everything is dwarves. Swears and drinks like one, too.
The Scourge Aasimar and the Barbarian's Path of the Zealot were made for each other... So much radiant damage... and you'll never run out of rage... because of Radiant Consumption you'll take damage every turn and you can start both on the same turn so that your rage is never lost.
I made a level 3 Aasimar Tempest Cleric for what I thought was going to be a one-off adventure. He's up to level 10 now and it is hands down the best (and most unintentionally OP) character I've ever made. When I saw they added the sub-races in Volo's Guide I just lit up. My character just cranked the dial to 11.
I've got an protector Aasimar Devotion paladin. It's cliche but awesome, especially when I fly and cast Searing smite on my whip. Flaming holy vengeance from the heavens
It's easy to roleplay an Aasimar: 1. Transform into Super Saiyan Aasimar. 2. Scream in Common: Divine/Celestial/Holy/Radiant or Infernal/Hellish/Dark/Necrotic ! 3. Cast the spell you used on the step above. And your catchphrase is: "I'm an Angel raised on Earth/Toril/etc... !" (Although this would work better for evil outsider planetouched...)

I'm working on the backstory for my Hexblade Fallen Aasimar. And yeah, my concept is a Anti-hero of sorts. Does good, but hates it's Divine for a certain reason.
On the rare occasions two aasimar meet they will often side with each other regardless of other allegiances, if only to feel some form of kinship. I wonder if that could be exploited to help build a party.
Aasimar Barbarian I think would be fun so when he goes in to a rage his Aasimar side shows but becous of the rage hes not aware of what happens to him.
I made a scourge aasimar who was an alchemist/artificer and wore a plague doctor outfit and primarily focused on healing with healing droughts and stuff. He‘s so fun to play as
C Johnston that is going to be my first character! I've never played but we have a group set up to start the campaign in January. How do you like the Aasimar Sun Soul Monk combo?
In my setting, Aasimar can go for years without realizing they are an Aasimar, and some even live and die without knowing. Aasimar are at some point in their lives contacted by their guardian angel for a variety of reasons and that is generally when they find out. There is a civilization in my world where the highest authority is three Solars, one for each of the main gods worshiped there and Aasimar have huge societal expectations in that city to join the clergy and do very well in the theocratic government. Aasimar who never realize what they are can look either elven or human. Sometimes even half-elven and can be so convinced they are that race that they never even know.
I am wondering how an Aasimar would handle having this angel guide directing it's path while being a party member as well... It seems like they'd be trying to take over control of the party to fulfill their over-riding destiny instead of worrying about the petty interests of their traveling companions...
I have this very interesting idea floating around in my head for a while about someone being born of an Aashimar and a Tiefling. The contrasting bloodlines results in the war of dominance of the blood, where the balance of the bloodline can change everyday. so every 24 hrs in game the player roll d20 and if the result is even he/she become an Aashimar for the day and if it's odd he/she become a Tiefling for a day. it adds more var in the game
I am in my second DND campaign ever and developed an Aasimar Druid character who has speed reading and photographic memory. She worked in the Library of All Knowing and had access to ALL knowledge, spells and rituals of the world. However she’s only level 4…so she has this knowledge she can’t use fully but will be able to help her Aasimar Warlock husband and her party. It’s magnificent. ❤❤❤
I just started playing a Fallen Aasimar Paladin Oath of Conquest. Custom setting my DM is running. My plan is to get to a point where I can abuse dominate person and fear to take over a powerful guild and then use that to take over as much territory as possible.
Dominate person comes at what level? I'm a fallen aasimar paladin and a total noob. 😞 I'm trying to learn how to play my character to her fullest extent.
Although I am still working on the specifics of her background, my Aasimar was born of Tiefling parents and was quickly brought in by the church to help her fulfill her destiny, that only she will know as she reaches maturity.
I imagine an Aasimar warlock with spell sniper and agonizing blast and Eldrich spear. Eldrich blasts that add charisma bonus and a range of 600 feet. (300 for Eldrich spear, doubled by Spell Sniper) Le's see, I can fly at will, and just keep tossing eldrich blasts at you from well outside of almost all effective retaliation.
Currently playing "Luxxor Mortez", Light Cleric of Amaunator. Named "Luxxor" after the unit for light measurement (lux) as well as tribute to one of the great lost cities of Ancient Egypt. He's a Noble, so I play his Aasimar "beauty" as supreme confidence. In the flowing red robes of Amaunator, and sheathed in half plate, he strides confidently into conflict. He wields a staff in one hand that's a black wooden crook (like a shepherd's crook, but with a ball of light in the empty space of the hook). The staff will loudly tap upon the ground with every stride. Luxxor is a Protector Aasimar, and as such, watches over his flock as would the sun god. He sheds light, upholds the law, and unveils the wicked. Stuck in the middle between House Mortez's ruthless and dark reputation and his responsibilities to the Council of Inquisitors, he is questioned by both. both ask him to watch the other, when all he wishes is to answer Amaunator's call. Now, deep in the Underdark to address his Noble House's interests in trade and diplomacy, Amaunator calls upon him to bring the Light of Law to the unending dark of the Night Below. As far as "celestial guide", I have brought up going with a non-angelic Celestial guide. If you look at Coatl, they are Celestial in nature, and can take Human form. My DM was interested in running with it, so when my wings come out, they aren't a glowing white - instead being an iridescent rainbow hue. If you look up the Coatl (p. 43 of the Monster Manual), they even state they "safeguard the heirs of creatures they once guided and protected." We both think it's not only thematic, but gives the character some measure of being unique without having to rely on "angels".
So how'd you miss the best archetype; the carefree Messiah, especially if you went Halfling, flavor it so your character grew up with the stories and had faith so when their powers manifested they had total faith and immediately went adventuring. But they're still a Halfling so they don't really take anything seriously so they just "go with the flow" and "trust that everything will work out" for them in the end.
well, I've set up a ebony archer kind of aasimar, full blown ebony armor, wings, and crossbow to! Plus as a effect of being in full ebony gear and rolling a 1D10 five times I acually have a 50% Immunity to curses. Though the funny part about him is that his touch is 20+17miles. That I'll admit was luck right there!
I'm playing a Blood Hunter Aasimar and I reject my heritage which in result turns me into a fallen Aasimar which in my opinion is really fun to roleplay as.
Oh yea and my Blood Hunter order is Ghostslayer so I have to roleplay as this dark angel who is obsessed with the thought of death and every thing undead so its pretty cool
was thinking maybe an aasimar sorcerer? sonce one of the sorcerer power source potentials is your blood, it could be something like an angel and a sorcerer in X years ago made your bloodline. this thought only came because of the bloodline thing as well as the CHA priority. could be fun for RP as well as mechanics.
I'm playing a Scourge Aasimar who, though born in Waterdeep, fled to the abandoned town of Leilon as a teen. Scavenging through the ruins of a town abandoned almost 100 years prior during the Spellplague, Brigitte relied on the High Tower of Thalivor (a busted mage's tower that paralyzes any who look upon it, requiring travelers to skirt the town by night) to keep people away. Avoiding the responsibility laid out to her by a presence that would urge her to action whenever she witnessed injustice, this city girl misjudged her ability to survive alone. She'd have died her first winter had she not stumbled on an abandoned shrine to Amaunator (who fell out of prominence during the Spellplague). The space was unnaturally (but not uncomfortably warm) on even the coldest of winter nights, and she found a sun-shaped amulet in the dusty sleeping quarters of the shrine's long-dead caretaker that radiated warmth. Surviving on what little she could scrounge and catch, the long months took their toll, and it was a malnourished wretch who traded with the passing travelers come springtime. Still, she lived, and Amaunator gained a devoted follower in the youth. Years later she would recognize the toll those dark days took on her body (8 Strength) was a punishment for avoiding her calling, but she holds no resentment for the austere Amaunator, knowing she would have wasted precious years otherwise. When Neverwinter was restored and the High Road opened again Leilon began to fill. In her years of isolation in its ruins Brigitte had restored Amaunator's shrine and learned to survive on her own, cultivating a small garden on the edge of town. Her faith had grown since that first winter, but as more and more people came to reside in town her old anxieties about being around people (and the compulsion to call down justice when witnessing unlawfulness) resurfaced. With those first settlers came the Zhentarim, proving her fears were not unfounded. Torn between her love of the shrine and fear of the duty she was being groomed for Brigitte fled, joining a caravan heading to Neverwinter. On the road they were attacked by goblins from the Neverwinter Wood, and she experienced firsthand awe-inspiring power she'd been burdened with. Erupting with light, Brigitte began calling down spells on their attackers, her innate magic punishing those who came too close as she strode out amidst the goblins. Yet the light hurt the people she'd been traveling with too, and left her own skin burning as if she'd been out in the sun overlong. Some of the goblins fled, Brigitte in pursuit, unable to face those with whom she'd traveled and the dense population center they were bound for. It was there that she met the band of adventurers she currently travels with. They recently survived the dangers residing in Wave Echo Cave together, and as she brought Amaunator's light to those long-dark halls Brigitte realized she'd yet again been prodded onto the path destined for her.
Same here. I had the idea that he wasn’t discovered when he was younger to recieve training and he was too distracted to hear and understand his angel guide until he got older so his powers just burst out sorcerer style
I personally tend to favor playing the obscure race/class combinations, for example I designed a Tiefling Paladin (using version 3.5 rules). Right now I'm working on designing an Aasimar for a friend's 5E campaign, and considering a few options for the class, but definitely going with the Protector 'subrace'. One consideration is the Paladin (Oath of Devotion) or a home-brew oath that uses similar mechanics and abilities. I'm also considering going with either the Bard or Rogue classes as well, because there is an appeal to a Lawful-Good Aasimar Rogue (who is perfect for fighting corrupt nobles and similar antagonists in most urban settings) but will also have a unique flavor for any adventure the character is on. As for the bard, I could see the character going out of their way to help the people through the use of their performances which also could provide the character the means (and reason) to travel wherever the evils they are compelled to fight are hiding. It all comes down to what the rest of the party ends up playing, since having too many characters with overlapping skills and abilities can cause some issues with party-balance. Too many fighters for example, leaves the party vulnerable to magic-based threats and traps.
Playing a pathfinder game as an Aasimar Sorcerer (Celestial bloodline) and its just great. About to level and get temp wings...plus I use illusions to,give myself a halo when I intimidate, gonna have so much fun with criminals thinking the angel of death has come for them.
My plan is like siblings. My character is chaotic good and my angel is lawful good. So they fight with one another about what's the right thing to do. But they care for one another and they have a close bond. Almost seeing her as a big sister. (She's a warlock bonded to her angel guide)
I’m playing a fallen Aasimar that in Icewind Dale, Auril destroyed my place of business, so I made a fallen deal to exact vengeance, hence I’m a fallen Aasimar. Currently sorcerer 3 Paladin 1, will end sorcerer 6 Paladin 5. Draconic sorcerer, vengeance Paladin. Lots of fun, lots of rulebreaks the DM allowed, but yeah, never cross Skotádi. For example, DM lets me cast BB/GFB with shadow blade, and allowed me to choose a gem dragon as my sorcerer origin.
I built an aasamir NPC that's the daughter of a Paladin of the Raven Queen. His wife went crazy from the celestial energy during birth and it caused her to become a hag-like witch while the Paladin has since become the town drunk and the daughter is thought to be a witch because of her healing powers but also because of her ties to the Raven Queen
I think for mine in place of an stereotypical angel I would have a celestial ancestor from a chaotic good realm. I enjoy Playing CG and NG over LG. I think an aasimar with the mission to take down evil, tyranny, and oppression would be lots of fun.
One thing I like to do with assimars is kinda like you guys we're saying with tieflings where you don't have to do just infernal. You can have abyssal heritage or whatever. There are other upper planer or divine beings other than angels and playing Assimar with a heritage from a chaotic good plane is a lot of fun
I just started a new character that is a fallen Aasimar Paladin. He was a pirate earlier in his life. Now he is trying to atone for his past discretions.
I'm really enjoying my scourge Aasimar stone sorcerer. Shifting the earth to my will, under my enemies' feet, while burning them alive. I haven't used radiant consumption, yet, so 2 of my companions think I'm a demon (stony skin, warhammer, lots of fire)...
Im rolling a new character sheet and im going to play a Aasimar (human) adopted by a dwarven family following church of Moradin and he had -2 charisma mod so he's been told he is not as good as a dwarf his entire life and genuinely think he is ugly and has developed int o being very quiet and anti-social, becoming a cleric following Moradin in young age, he was loved by his adoptive parents, but not as much as his dwarven brother(s).
I decided to play a protector aasimar vengence paladin of the Raven Queen. He was marked as a baby for Her and taken back to one of Her temples to learn to be one of Her sacred champions. As a lawful neutral character, I thought that this would work out quite well. From what I understand, disciples of TRQ try not to make life difficult for the local populace and live within the bounds of society. After all, they are looked upon with a bit of mistrust and fear so I think it's a case of "don't rock the boat." But if you need your loved ones funeral arrangements taken care of, no better priest than one of Hers. I thought this could lend itself to some interesting RP and personal side quests of it's own if the GM wants to use it. Thoughts?
I'm playing a noble aasimar fighter at the moment, and I had some fun with all that "destiny" stuff not gonna lie. Basically my aasimar is a pampered entitled brat who thinks that he's a main character of current world history. He's very young, only 18, and he was given a very kind and caring angel who is not persuasive enough, so my dumbass was mostly ignoring him, pretending to listen to his advice but doing as he pleased, thinking he is smarter and can decide for himself. He's not straight up evil, and he thinks that he's all for good and light, but he's a massive bully especially towards tieflings and is veeery entitled both about the fact that he's an aristocrat and about the fact that he's chosen by heavens. Now he's going through an arc, thinking his angel have had enough and left him (he just lost tracks of his spirit child for some time, since the party travelled into a different plane and can't contact him in his dreams, so for know his dreams are basically black void all the night through). He's now desperate and starting to lose hope but I think he will go out of this situation at least somewhat smarter and better person.
Nokomarie I had to Google ASMR to even know what you were talking about. Sorry we do our best to keep things loosely PG-13 around here. Nerdarchist Dave
Curently in my game one of my players is a Aasimar but older version (not from Volos book). Her noble family has been main vorhipers of old god of knolledge and learning, cause in they can trace their ansestors bloodline from their gods herald. Until their kindom was owertaken and forced to be converted to their fhait or die. The family got new home as vasals to naiboring kindoms Duke Galashield and promised in their oath to him that next child that is blest whit divine blood shall serve Galahield and lend his or her power to his family. And she has been part of current dukes loyal knight vasals (monster scuad) and they had been in wierdest of plases cross the kindom. Allso she met her god in the game in wision.
I am playing a Lesser Aasimar Sorcerer in 3.5, refluffing the spells to be "hidden weapons" and "ninjutsu", because ninja. In the campaign lore, humans and non-humans are separated (for one reason or another, I don't really get it), and humans are extremely hostile to non-humans. So, when he was born to a desert caravan of humans, he was dropped in the sands and left for dead, only to be picked up by Desert Orcs. Unable to keep up with the growth of his newfound kin in the traditional way, he had to pick up new tricks. Still unable to keep up by 13 (Orc adulthood), he was forced out of the clan, and he must prove himself before he may return. And return he shall... as clan leader! Taking naught but an Urn of Sands from his homelands, and the shirt on his back, he left.
I played an aasimar bard recently. He was born human, but due to a severe cosmic event he was thrown forward 500 years into the future and found himself changed.
Divine soul sorcerer Aasimar would be Awesome, you could even take all cleric spells and play the character as an inate "cleric" you don't need to pray to a god to ask for divine power or magic because you ARE divine power and magic . . . . i am usually not one for overly good and/or religious characters but i would definitely make an exception for an Aasimar even more so for a Divine soul Aasimar sorcerer
Question, somewhat new to 5e. Is there a dwarves version of the aasimar. Like randomly chosen god descendants with random god-like appearances mixed with dwarf?
What about a fallen aasimar who hasn’t actually fallen, but represents a divine presence of death that beseeches you to hunt down those who cheated death. You’re doing good, but people distrust you because of the dark powers you wield to do cosmic justice.
So I'm playing Aasimar. This is technically my first character in DnD. I have a Dragonborn in BG3. My backstory is my Aasimars mother was cast out of the celestial realm and she was pregnant with me when she was cast out. My goal and high arch story is I'm trying to prove my worthyness to other celestials that I am worthy. Is that right and ok to play?
Great suggestions. For the fiend influence I would use instead an angel that's going to fall but hasn't manifested it's pure dark energy yet, eventually it will, and it will also come to you, and then shit's gonna get serious. I waiting to have Volo's Guide again in my hands to study the Aasimar to see if I can also reflavor it to get my beloved Eladrin Bralani. It's a shame what they did to the Eladrin in this edition.
hey Nerds, I was hoping you could give me some inspiration! I had the idea of a Fallen Aasimar Knowledge Cleric that takes truth over everything and was kinda exiled by the Gods for "asking the wrong question" basically doubting and questioning...too much and in the wrong places.... But getting finally my Volo's Guide today (Europe) I read that it si really about being touched by evil rather than just being left by the good powers. Any ideas how to handle this? :)
I want to play a drunken fallen aasimr. One that rejects his birth right for how someone treats him. He hates the idea of being given everything thing to him and being told from a young age that his destiny is set. He wants to follow his mothers side, the human side of his nature. He will not use any of his angelic powers and will keep them in check by alway being in a drunken state. My group mates think I’m a joke, but that’s cuz they haven’t let me spread my wings
Aasimars are given a binary choice in life. Embrace, or reject. This means, ones morals, perceptions, and beliefs are essentially predetermined. This creates a predictable and almost malleable mind. My Cleric Aasimar Scourge saw this and deemed it borderline slavery. You'd be a slave to those who determine what is good and what is evil. Your opinions would eventually stop being your own. Good and evil is subjective, and varies from race to race, and situation to situation. She isn't above violence, but likes to think of other possible ways to get a job done to avoid it if possible. She likes to be creative with what is available, and has a tendency to take charge. She is neither the strongest or the fastest, but knows her teammates well, and enjoys "using them" for her gain.
fallen aasimars or one shots? Cause I kinda don't think either is for the express purpose of killing things. My last character was actually fairly non-combat oriented.
Late reply but as the guy above me said, they were using Volo’s guide to monsters and there are three types, the protection Aasimar have a special ability that they suddenly grow angelic wings for a minute that does radiant damage to a chosen target and allows them to fly 30 ft. Not really fast but it does ignore armor or weight penalties. The scourge Aasimar does radiant damage in a circle but lacks the wings. And the fallen does a dark version that causes fear and nercrotic damage. The wings also shine brightly so best way to deal with kobolds or orcs
I have a different idea about my aasimar is not born because is child of a Celestial...the celestial was sealed inside a human newborn so have celestial like powers...I make it so that the celestial he have inside his body was a rebel in the celestial plane so have both dark and light powers... is interesting because the angel inside his body is both his paladin deity and his warlock patron
The way we're playing my Aasimar character in our current campaign I think is kinda interesting, they know that they ARE one, because of the physical aspects, and they always had. Mine is a descendant of an Avoral, and has feathers in their hair and on their shoulders, the silver hair, etc., but refused the call of their god/fate/angelic guide when they were younger and went to live a life of crime and debauchery. In the current time of the campaign, they're trying to turn over a new leaf and realized that they shouldn't pass up their destiny. The DM and I decided though that they DIDN'T know they were a Scourge type, and will probably have the power dragged out of them into battle when it finally manifests, and the denizens within the world DO know about their abilities. I think it's provided a lot of neat narrative choices! It probably only panned out this way though because we hadn't done all our research beforehand, but I think it's allowed for some cool wiggle room within the setting. It's been a lot of fun so far, and not just because I get to do a terrible Australian accent and be the tall pretty jock!
What are some drugs that prevent sleep in the dnd world? I know there are some spells, but I don't want to rely on my wizard. Can I just ask my DM to make one up?
That my friend, is complete bullshit . . . . i do not like GM's that ban official races and classes, it is usually because they do not know how to deal with them so they don't even try, i would only ban something if it was very blatantly unfair (which i do not think any official content is at all) races, classes, feats, powers, weapons etc... i welcome everything, i would even work with a player to home-brew something if a player had a good idea
I want to try a Light Cleric Protecter Aasimar. Any thoughts about how to go about it? I can't decide what kind of Celestial to base my aasimar off of. Thoughts for that too?
DM is letting me play a Dragonborn Aasimar found by humans in a storm as a baby with a note in Draconic saying my name: Dovak. Adopted by a Cleric of Bahamut who gave me the last name StormBorn. Spent life thinking I was a silver Dragonborn who couldn’t breathe (frost?), until a necromancy killed my adoptive father and I went Super Saiyan Aasimar on him. Became a Devotion Paladin of Bahamut and went on a pilgrimage afterwards after my father’s last words were: Don’t let vengeance consume you. Spread His justice. Please. And here I am, getting sucked into Borobudur as a Platinum-scaled Aasimar Dragonborn. I’m doomed lol
I'm curious, but I think your pronunciation of aasimars is incorrect. Isn't the official pronunciation AH-sim-ar? It sounds like you keep saying AZ-i-mar. It should sound like like a long AH followed by the sim (like the sims games) then ar. It doesn't have a z sound and the last sound should be ar not mar. I'm just wonder if everyone says it incorrectly because its spelled unusually.
So I’ve been thinking of making this race but am having issues picking a class for it I was planning on going with the protecter sub race and (I think I can still be neutral good ? Not sure) the classes I were thinking was a cleric but I didn’t want to be the preacher type person and I’ve already made a fighter wizard and ranger but am not opposed to making another it’s just a bit confusing
Every Aasimar has an Angelic guide that communicates with them through dreams . . . . . it can good for a DM to have characters like this because if your players aren't catching a hint you can have the guide manifest in a dream and direct them (although it is still up to the player to obey or not), Warlocks can also fall into this category
Doctor Drew
Cool idea.
If it's available for the old one pact, a chaos deity might do it just to see what would happen if an Aasimar regected their heritage
I'm very happy with this race and class, I'm planning on multiclass with warlock pact of the blade: The fiend and Fighter: Eldritch knight.
Been playing an assimar in my last campaign and really love it. Especially if you are someone who loves to play paladins. Match made in heaven ;) .
TenguBE literally.
It's easy to roleplay an Aasimar:
(Although this would work better for evil outsider planetouched...)
the Aasamar are like the "Good" Tieflings, you can re-flavor them with another race. like using a Elf for the base and slap the wings.
Wings that look like leaves lmao
If you still need to pick-up Volo's Guide to Monsters, consider using our link here: amzn.to/2f6L8fM- it won't cost you anything extra & it helps support Nerdarchy. -Nerdarchist Ryan
As an Irishman I don't blame my heritage for my temper... I blame the misses & beer 😋
Where's Your Cave? lol
Nerdarchist Dave
Where's Your Cave?
Yup da RA!
Aasimar Barbarian I think would be fun so when he goes in to a rage his Aasimar side shows but becous of the rage hes not aware of what happens to him.
James Gonzales I know this is an old comment but I am going to play a aasimar barbarian and I am excited
Rune Walkingshaw make sure you take up the zealot archetype for that divine fury
@@SuaveNerd2000 basically you go fucking super saiyan.
I made a scourge aasimar who was an alchemist/artificer and wore a plague doctor outfit and primarily focused on healing with healing droughts and stuff. He‘s so fun to play as
I'm currently playing an asimar sun soul monk chaneling his celestial heritage into raident energry and hes very fun
I'm trying to learn how to play my character to her fullest extent.
Although I am still working on the specifics of her background, my Aasimar was born of Tiefling parents and was quickly brought in by the church to help her fulfill her destiny, that only she will know as she reaches maturity.
Aasimar Great Old One Warlock with literal devil and angel on your shoulders and a Aberrant being in charge
Raeven Durocher-Batley I regret we missed the opportunity to discuss the angel and devil on each shoulder.
Nerdarchist Dave
I imagine an Aasimar warlock with spell sniper and agonizing blast and Eldrich spear. Eldrich blasts that add charisma bonus and a range of 600 feet. (300 for Eldrich spear, doubled by Spell Sniper)
Le's see, I can fly at will, and just keep tossing eldrich blasts at you from well outside of almost all effective retaliation.
Mike Gould Love the non-angelic guide. Nicely fleshed out character as well.
Nerdarchist Dave
Nerdarchy Amaunator bless and keep you on the righteous path, Brother David. ;)
Imagine becoming an aasimar during a campaign. You find out that you have angelic blood so you seek out a ritual that manifests that power.
Awaken Ancestry is a cool Ritual concept
So how'd you miss the best archetype; the carefree Messiah, especially if you went Halfling, flavor it so your character grew up with the stories and had faith so when their powers manifested they had total faith and immediately went adventuring. But they're still a Halfling so they don't really take anything seriously so they just "go with the flow" and "trust that everything will work out" for them in the end.
I'm playing a Fallen Aasimar Sorcadin build in one of my campaigns currently. He's a Conquest Paladin divine soul sorcerer
How did you make a beckstory?
well, I've set up a ebony archer kind of aasimar, full blown ebony armor, wings, and crossbow to!
Should be allowed to "bend" the Aasimar appearance toward just about any race.
Its still an Aasimar... but looks much like a Dragonborn for example.
In my games you can be any race as an Aasimar. It only makes since considering humans can’t be the only ones chosen by the gods.
was thinking maybe an aasimar sorcerer? sonce one of the sorcerer power source potentials is your blood, it could be something like an angel and a sorcerer in X years ago made your bloodline. this thought only came because of the bloodline thing as well as the CHA priority. could be fun for RP as well as mechanics.
Can you imagine if all this brain power were put toward evil? The world would be over!
I want to play an Aasimar favored soul. I think that could be a really cool thematic character.
TheMentalLizard My Aasimar is similar. He is a paladin, but his human sister is a favored soul. He was blessed, but she's the one with the real light
7:22 - I hear voices. I'm sane. Sanity is a legal term about if you're able to be responsible for your actions.
His wife went crazy from the celestial energy during birth and it caused her to become a hag-like witch while the Paladin has since become the town drunk and the daughter is thought to be a witch because of her healing powers but also because of her ties to the Raven Queen
im Currently playing as a Scourge Aasimar shadow sorcerer of the raven queen. its a ton of fun
There are other upper planer or divine beings other than angels and playing Assimar with a heritage from a chaotic good plane is a lot of fun
agreed, im playing an aasimar of the raven queen, im really enjoying it. i dont think theres any reason to lock it behind the upper planes
Thanks, this was very helpful ✌️
Happy to be of assistance.
-Nerdarchist Dave
I like the concept of shifting between the subtypes.
The unexpectebles deals with this really well I think
You know, I misread your title as "How to Play as an ASMR in D&D" which, you must admit sounded pretty intriguing. I is disappoint.
Nokomarie I had to Google ASMR to even know what you were talking about. Sorry we do our best to keep things loosely PG-13 around here.
Nerdarchist Dave
It's not always dirty, just strange. I could see it being quite useful as a method of showing a haunting.
roflmao. That was hillarious.
Currently prepping a Scourge Vengeful Pally/Undying light Aasimar.
Not really, but divine soul sorcerer would give that feel.
Nerdarchist Dave
Fallen Aasimar Oathbreaker Paladin
TravistheGREAT03 Forbidden knowledge could be enough to cause the fall.
Nerdarchist Dave
TravistheGREAT03 go with your flavor it's a role playing game if your DM can't work around that (very flavorful) back story he's not worth his salt.
I would like to play a half Aasimar half Tiefling, blood hunter.
I play my aasimar paladin like a religious zealot warrior basically like a shadow Hunter from the book series
Well, flying at third level, probably not a good idea. But, DMs can do as they wish, it's their game.
It's not as useful as you think. Falling is not usually big part of games unless your DM likes pit traps and stuff.
I have my aasimar paladin casting purify on all the party's food and booze. The booze turns to water though so they kinds are pissed at me
I literally JUST played an aasimar :-p
A fallen aasimar ';..;'
One shots are so hard to genuinely explore the character and their emotions
They are just for killing things.
fallen aasimars or one shots?
Cause I kinda don't think either is for the express purpose of killing things. My last character was actually fairly non-combat oriented.
Infinite RolePlay One shots, obviously.
I look at them as a hang out with purpose.
Can an aasimar be born to anything other then human and a celestial being? Can they be a child of like a genasi and celestial being for example?
what would you get from an Aasimar and Teifling having a child together?
The Overlords I'd go with the fallen Aassimar subrace.
Nerdarchist Dave
I played one of those! A tiefimar. He was a warlock, too, with a couple bouts of indefinite madness. Definitely a lot of fun.
A human lol the bloodlines cancel each other out
You mention wings often enough, but I don't think anything in the DM's Guide (page 286-287) mentions that Aasimar have wings.
There's a bunch of subraces in Volo's guide to monsters
Late reply but as the guy above me said, they were using Volo’s guide to monsters and there are three types, the protection Aasimar have a special ability that they suddenly grow angelic wings for a minute that does radiant damage to a chosen target and allows them to fly 30 ft. Not really fast but it does ignore armor or weight penalties. The scourge Aasimar does radiant damage in a circle but lacks the wings. And the fallen does a dark version that causes fear and nercrotic damage.
The wings also shine brightly so best way to deal with kobolds or orcs
@@georgestorey3087 yes, in Volo's Guide To Monsters starting at 3rd level you can use wings for an hour. I think once per day if I recall?
I have a different idea about my aasimar is not born because is child of a Celestial...the celestial was sealed inside a human newborn so have celestial like powers...I make it so that the celestial he have inside his body was a rebel in the celestial plane so have both dark and light powers... is interesting because the angel inside his body is both his paladin deity and his warlock patron
I was thinking of playing a protector aasimar way of the kensei monk with Noble background, who is one of a couple heirs
mix the scourge Aasimar with the new Zelot barbarian. a great blazing holly rage, ready to burn and stab evil with raidinat anger.
so much light. lol
I made an aasimar fighter, and my GM said that the Volo's version was too powerful.
That my friend, is complete bullshit . . . . i do not like GM's that ban official races and classes, it is usually because they do not know how to deal with them so they don't even try, i would only ban something if it was very blatantly unfair (which i do not think any official content is at all)
races, classes, feats, powers, weapons etc... i welcome everything, i would even work with a player to home-brew something if a player had a good idea
lol played an aasimar paladin, chaotic evil fallen and oath breaker... i think i messed up
.95x Speed made this perfect
I want to try a Light Cleric Protecter Aasimar. Any thoughts about how to go about it? I can't decide what kind of Celestial to base my aasimar off of. Thoughts for that too?
My character's ancestor just decided to slum with the mortals one night. She's also not that charismatic, more in strength and constitution.
Though Aasimar are generally good they don't have to be. It's up to you, unless the DM says otherwise.
Can someone tell me where I can get the middel angel on the table?! I already have the other 2 but it's from a long time ago.
Best classes for an Aasimar...especially a Fallen Aasimar?

Make an Aasimar/Fiend-Warlock. That should be good fun.
A female Angel is also just called an Angel.
What's with dreams and voices? Where is this info coming from?
Volo's guide for monsters describes dreams that they will have.
Every Aasimar has an Angelic guide that communicates with them through dreams . . . . . it can good for a DM to have characters like this because if your players aren't catching a hint you can have the guide manifest in a dream and direct them (although it is still up to the player to obey or not), Warlocks can also fall into this category
