    I have know doubt that the trainers love the whales. However there are so many things that prove that cetaceans don’t belong in captivity. I have no doubt that if someone went to Seaworld and was telling other guests actual truths about how captivity affects these animals, they would be told to leave for “talking too much”.

    Even if blackfish edited a manipulative message, THIS video isn't any better. It doesn't really address any of the major specific claims blackfish made, it rather focused on petty details like who was ACTUALLY riding the orca in the video.
    Who cares who was riding it, it was obviously a routine trainer task, and the movie never said the womon speaking was the one riding in the video. She worked a much earlier time than any current trainer, so there may be no video of when she did the routine task, so the video was included for a visual representation of what was being described.
    This video took a petty matter like who's riding the Orca, and used that to claim the entire content of blackfish was made up lies. Which is pretty wild, I don't think anyone that watched blackfish came away from that movie thinking about that one whale riding scene at all.
    Now, answer why trainers told people that Orcas live longer in captivity than they do in the wild?
    What's your feeling about stealing Tilikum from his parents?
    If whales can live over twice as long in the wild, why advocate for them to live in captivity? do you really think for some reason that it's better for them to have a shorter life living in a pool? Or are you worried about the potential loss of jobs if sea world's main attraction was no longer there to look at? If you think a simplified much shorter life is better, why do you?
    These are the questions people care about, not who's riding a whale in a video, or if trainers care about the orcas or not, I don't think blackfish gave the impression that trainers didn't care about the whales, that impression was more put on the operators who run things but don't interact with the creatures.

      @Christian Banuelos Blackfish didn't say he was captured by seaworld, it said he was captured buy a different company and later sold to seaworld after causing problems in his previous location.

    They never said it was Sam on the whale, just that she had a similar experience. I’m not sure why that’s a talking point. I don’t think anyone said trainers don’t care for their animals. In fact I would argue the opposite. Both former and current trainers have displayed love for the whales. Nobody said they were still catching wild whales. They had a whole segment on breeding at sea world... complete with a trainer whacking off an orca into a ziploc...So yeah...we got a graphic description of where these whales come from. The line “treated like royalty” was just...a bold choice. Jeff Simmons interview at the end had a completely different tone than every other interview in blackfish. Very defensive. He came off as a dick. Saying “it’s not true”, “we’re not bad guys”, and “we love our animals” aren’t facts. Those are subjective options. I want to hear facts about orca lifespan in comparison to in the wild, preserving pods, keeping calves with their mothers, or why do you think that size tank is appropriate for an animal of that size? How did you come to that conclusion?If you have these huge huge parking lots why can’t you make the tanks bigger? What exactly are the requirements for orca trainers? Degrees in veterinary science or marine biology?? 0r just that you’re perky and a good swimmer?

      @̊ · .Kindly Kalia Jesus Christ the semantics are wild. They both worked at sea world is that part correct? At any point in the video did Sam or anyone for that matter say “this video. This specific one is me”? You’re assuming an implication that’s not there.

      @̊ · .Kindly Kalia The video doesn’t matter. Nobody said the video was her. Why is this a talking point? There’s so many bigger issues but you’re hyper focusing on this six seconds. It’s so bizarre. Also nobody called into question the timeline of these two employees. I don’t understand how this is relevant. If the goal was to discredit Sam because that’s not her in the video you missed the mark. She never said the video was her.

    First off. I don't doubt the trainers love for these creatures is valid. The fact of the matter is that many of these creatures in the past have been captured from the wild and their families to be put in a chlorinated swimming pool for our entertainment. They are slaves begging for food to do tricks.If anyone has been to and has enjoyed the ocean you must admit that it is very vast These pools are not nearly large enough.. Baby orcas are either miscarried or die very young in this type of setting while also being stolen from their mothers for no real reason other than profit. This is abuse.

    • @MrJm323
      @MrJm323 2 года назад

      Obviously keeping animals for entertainment is PRINCIPALLY intended for the benefit of humans. (Profit is what an entity has earned doing something which other people want and are willing to pay for.)
      "....for our entertainment" ...is not something to be fobbed off as unimportant.
      When orcas in the wild cruelly throw about (and punt into the air with their tails) seals and sea lions for a quarter of an hour before finally devouring them, they are merely entertaining themselves! ...But, you will excuse them with, "That's just nature! Nature can be cruel!" ....And, I will come back and say, "Yes. And humans are a part of nature as all living creatures are."
      But the key underlying premise of the Green movement (environmentalism, "animal liberationist", vegan, etc.) -- often unidentified, not made explicit enough -- is that you eco-freaks draw a bright, bold red circle around this ONE species of living thing: Humans, and imply (if not just openly declare) that OUR NATURES are somehow not a legitimate part of "nature". ...OUR supposed "cruelty" (which is considerably less cruel than that of wild orcas -- considering that blood sports such as bullfighting and cock fighting have been banned in most parts of the world) is somehow exempt from the excuse "it's just part of nature!"
      Try to spare more sympathy for YOUR OWN species.
      As to HOW cruel we have been to captive orcas, an indication was given by the behavior of the one long-term captive orca we actually released -- one that was in the hands of a corporate marine park far less generous to its marine mammals than the wealthier (but much maligned) SeaWorld -- Keiko, the Free willy orca, once it was acquired by activists from a Mexican park with a tiny tank and freed (after intensive training to re-adapt to the wild). ....He literally swam back to the cruel humans (or at least humans who were less cruel than the activists had become after they adopted a radical estrangement policy towards Keiko in order to DRIVE him away and into the sunset of his "freedom"). ...The behavior of Keiko puts a serious dent into your argument regarding human cruelty towards captive orcas.

    the trainers one hundred percent love the animals, but that doesn't takeaway from the fact that there are so many strong indicators that cetaceans live tragic lives, anyone who supports seaworld is blind and doesn't know how biology works, how dumb would you have to be to think that placing an animal that swims up to 200km a day in a 50foot tank at best is healthy? how dumb would you have to be to think that the worn down and sometimes non existent teeth is natural? how dumb would you have to be to believe the lies that seaworld puts out? ffs just look at the facts, people have died because of this, so even if you don't care about the animals, at least ask questions for the people who have died.

    So 10 million towards studying and “protecting killer whales” but still an increasingly bigger parking lot than the pools you keep your fucking whales in? Get a grip people I have no doubt many of these trainers love these animals. Humans attach themselves to anything we believe we have control over but when it comes to these whales they are not ours. Sea world isn’t a good place for these whales because if it was these trainers would be trashed, crushed, pulled, or bitten ever!? These are animals with wild instincts not fucking domesticated dogs.

    • @MrJm323
      @MrJm323 2 года назад

      Oh, so, you are okay with SeaWorld keeping and exhibiting (with shows) CAPTIVE-BORN orcas -- ones that have known nothing but living in tanks, being fed and cared for by humans and being socialized with humans?
      How very good of you! Because, now, the majority of captive orcas are in fact captive-BORN.
      Yes, we can BREED them for more profitable entertainment. We would breed fewer Tilikums and more Keikos.
      You just want them to have bigger tanks. I'm sure SeaWorld would love to have bigger tanks too! Let's start a campaign (among the children, first, like with the campaign to "free Keiko") to raise funds for the express purpose of DONATING IT to SeaWorld to construct super parks with very generously constructed tanks -- or even pens without concrete so as their echo-location sounds to bounce off back into their ears!
