Thank you so much, gentlemen, for featuring this and for doing me a wonderful favor. Why? When ZZ announced their first concert in Europe in 1980 I blindly bought for curiosity their Best Of album which cover art let me believe it’s a kind of country campfire type music. Boy, was I thrilled. I have waited until after midnight when they finally entered the stage (without bringing the longhorn, rattlesnake, … though :-), and I hardly saw so many jaws dropped in my life again. That Best Of album cover is hanging framed in my music room, and luckily that concert has been filmed and released on DVD in later years. Interestingly, I never bought all those early individual albums, I guess for budget reasons and for the following synthie/MTV infused albums quickly gained my focus and spend for all later albums ever since until and including RAW. Thank you so much, RHF, for filling those early years‘ holes in my collection with this boxset which I am eagerly awaiting for customs to let it go into my hands. My first RHF! I received my 2 copies of this box set today. I grew up with these albums. They were not even remotely close to what I am experiencing here. If you have the stuff to resolve this AAA experience, you will be rewarded in spades! Unbelievable!!
These box sets are a big investment if not already a fan.. one might have wanted to collect the entire series, but when it means committing to 5 record of one artist you’re not familiar with, it’s a lot to ask even for those of us who enjoy discovering new music. I’m 35 so this band I know by reputation only.. I hope for more Australian music such as the recent INXS by AP.. our music catalog is vast and of high quality, but have not had the AAA Audiophile treatment being given overseas.. or even some more new wave stuff.. here’s something that confuses me.. Rhino/Warner just reissued the Duran Duran catalog again from the 2010 digital remasters that were so bad the band complained.. I would have purchased a Duran Duran High Fidelity box no questions!!
@@kyles7087 I’m from Houston, ZZ Top’s hometown (as far as the formation). That’s a really tuff one I’ll take Tres Hombres out of it since that is the one most are familiar with, I’m gonna have to go with “ Tejas “ than the 1st album going in order after that with TH out
I already have these albums and they are indeed their best work. What I’d really enjoy from ZZ Top is a box set from 1994 onward. Their album Rhytmneen is incredible.
I don't know about everyone else but I see this as a AWESOME Value. I jumped on it the second I got the notification. Now if RHINO can just get them out the door sooner than normal.
Sadly the price on Warner Australia at AUD $400, is far more than Rhino's USD $200. Using PayPal's current exchange rate it would cost about AUD $350 to buy from Rhino US (and that includes the USD $15.99 for shipping). The Australia Warner shipping is AUD $13, so AUD $413 in total. If you live in Australia, as I do, It is cheaper buying from US on this one (and actually all of the Rhino HiFi series, Warner Australia are ripping us off here).
I am actually really excited for this. I have the KPG/SH 2006 version of Tres Hombres and love it. Would expect this to be just as good. I don’t have any of the others. Been wanting to get an audiophile quality of Fandango & Tejas for a while now. Also like that it is free shipping. Now, if we can just get The Cars S/T reissued (maybe not numbered)?
@@jeffreyweinberg3979 While they may be less popular today they are always very popular here in Texas. When folks hear these first 5 LPs for the first time? The Tres Hombres gatefold centerfold is a 3-burritto/taco platter, something you can readily order at a Tex-Mex taqueria restaurant. I have three out of five on London Records. I'll wait to see if Rhino releases those albums individually.
Looks like a nice set! Unfortunately, there are too many other things coming out soon that I want. So I doubt I will be able to get it. Happy listening!
Love these high fidelity Rhino releases. Missed out on the Black Sabbath but received Yes - Relayer today. Great sound from Kevin Gray but one issue on the packaging, The album sleeve comes in heavy duty cardboard. Because of the thick cardboard , it´s difficult to fit the vinyl album (in the polylined sleeve), back in the main album cover sleeve. So you have 180gr album, to fit into thicken cardboard but you have not changed the dimensions of the outer sleeve to accommodate it. I add clear vinyl outer sleeves to all my purchased albums and here I will store the record in the middle of the gatefold, which is ok but not ideal.
First RHF release I am not buying. Already have the Cinco box, and the individual releases done by Kevin/Steve Hoffman, and more. I am sure these sound good, but so do the other releases. Wait Patrick just said they never got the audiophile treatment - that is a bold face lie - he mentioned VMP but is he forgetting all the other releases from those that Warners/Rhino released?
Hey Steve. Any chance of getting Patrick to get after Warner Canada so they can delete the words Pre-order for this title? The ZZ Top box is available in the USA and people there can use discount codes today! Warner Canada, which won't ship this until Aug 30th, calls it a Pre-Order and therefore the discount codes do not apply. We are treated differently and that is terrible. If I want to order from Canada and get a discount, I have to wait until the end of August and hope they are still available.
Not the case with my order. Got the 20% off on Warner Canada and they guarantee your copy of the set as long as you prepay. Once they sell out you will no longer be able to preorder the title on their site. Have not had any issues with preorders on the Warner Canada site. Yes they will ship end of August, but this is typical as US market is always prioritized over Canada.
@@PeterMedia2023 Well you got lucky then. I just tried it again the the discount code gave an error and said it does not apply to that title, so "oh well". I am glad because I would only really want this set because I have all of the RHF so far, so the chain will break here.
