Here is more information on the approval process and it’s not looking good : There will be two versions of the DCAS regulation in play from September 2025, known as the 00 series and the 01 series. It is not unusual for the UNECE to have different versions of the same regulation active at the same time. They do this for other regulations. Changes to these regulations are known as "Supplements". These supplements can contain many other changes but I am only concentrating on SIM here. The 00 series of the DCAS regulation will be sunset, leaving only the 01 series as the valid DCAS regulation. The sunset date will be decided in the GRVA meeting later this month. I expect it will be set for about 5 years time. The 00 series - SIM not allowed In force since September 2024 Supplement 1 to 00 series has been produced and had a successful adoption vote in November 2024. Expected in force June 2025. Supplement 2 to 00 series has been produced and has gone to the GRVA in January 2025 as a formal document for review. No estimate yet on when this may come in to force. The 01 series - SIM allowed Currently allows SIM on highways only. Adoption vote scheduled for March 2025. Expected in force September 2025 Supplement 1 to 01 series has been produced but has no further update on SIM. Expecting it will go to the GRVA in January 2025 as an informal document for review. No estimate yet on when this may come in to force. SIM on non-highways A supplement to the 01 series will eventually allow SIM on non-highways but currently it remains under discussion by the ADAS Task Force as there is no consensus on how to handle this.
It will take years, if not decades, until real FSD will be allowed in Germany. There are so many regulations and laws for FSD - much more than in the US. Honestly, I think, the reason is safety over profit. Tesla faces several charges for killing people with their autopilot. Here, that would have serious consequences and couldnt be paid off with money. Also lets not forget, that we dont have any speed limit on most parts of our highways. With cars passing at 250km/h and the autopilot turning off, it will be difficult to react in time.. Sorry, for my bad english.
I am praying that you are not right, after all Tesla said that they are aiming for an early 2025 FSD rollout throughout Europe. Can you point me to a single proven instance of someone getting killed by Autopilot? Or even FSD? Also how many people are killed by human drivers every day, is that comparable? Regarding the autobahn, using this regular Autopilot would be hazardous, but FSD will handle it better than any human could.
@@robotinreallife "Can you point me to a single proven instance of someone getting killed by Autopilot?" Well, I guess we have to wait for the courts to decide that. There are several cases still pending. - Here in Germany, a court decided that Tesla has to inform about the following. You'll find it on their german website and in their stores: (translated by google translate:) "The currently activated functions require active monitoring by the driver - autonomous operation of the vehicle is therefore not possible. Some features require manual turn signal operation and have a limited range of functionality. The activation and use of autonomous functions, on the other hand, require proof over billions of kilometers driven that their reliability far exceeds the capabilities of human drivers. In addition, legal approvals are required for autonomous operation, which may take even longer depending on the jurisdiction. As these self-driving capabilities continue to develop, your vehicle will be continually updated and upgraded via over-the-air software updates. For more information, see the user manual."
One day! But even the best FSD channel has about 100K so I don't know if a million is realistic :D maybe if I start testing humanoid robots in households 5 years from now!
What version do you use? Are we stuck with an old Autopilot v11? Because I could imagine we could use v12 where highway was still separated from regular FSD so it could theoretically works with our regulations and be even better.
*There is very seen the regulatory with 25° angle (I think). It litterarly wants to turn but cant. 25° and probably some Gs (accelleration/brake) is limited.
Haha that's a good point! However FSD shows surprising adaptability even in harsh scenarios.... like when a hacker unlocked it in Russia and it drove flawlessly: ruclips.net/video/vt8oDtd0dCo/видео.html
You guys are absolutely wild! 😂 But honestly, this really shows how much Europe’s stuck playing catch-up with all the regulations holding back innovation. The bureaucracy makes things riskier than just embracing the tech and evolving toward a safer, smarter future. Fun video! stay safe out there! Here’s to an amazing New Year, and let’s hope 2025 is a breakthrough year for self-driving tech!
I am really glad that we are able to showcase this. Hopefully 2025 will be much more positive in this regard. Thanks so much for your comment! What's your personal involvement in this topic?
this comment also shows that the video wasn't actually that clear that its EU laws that are the problem, and tesla in EU is crippled and showing that is just a waste of time... Should I start reviewing and talking about my smart phone from 2015 ? and then complain how it dosn/t work etc.
@@robotinreallife I don’t have direct involvement in this topic, but as a tech content creator, it’s definitely something I’m interested in. Plus, I’m hoping to get a Tesla Model Y “Juniper” in the near future, so Autopilot naturally grabs my attention. With that in mind, it’s disappointing to see Europe falling behind....not just in Autopilot tech but in AI and innovation overall. Honestly, I feel like part of Tesla’s challenges in implementing Autopilot here stems from efforts to shield brands like VW, BMW, and Mercedes from losing ground due to their slower pace of innovation.
I also push my Tesla on autopilot to go trought sharp turns the speed limit where I mostly drive is 80 but those turns are sharp. Autopilot feels like he dances after every turn to out himself in center of the road do t feel natural

Driving is fun for some, but Autopilot and FSD are about making driving safer and more accessible. They reduce accidents caused by human error (like distractions or fatigue), let people rest or even sleep while the car drives, and give independence to people who can’t drive due to disabilities. It’s not about killing fun-it’s about saving lives and giving everyone the freedom to get around. If you love driving, you still can. If you don’t or can’t, now you have a solution. Done.
So irresponsible to be attempting to test this to it's limits..... Even if your "regaining control" it's still a complete unessecary risk you are putting on everyone else around you.... Half the time you are laughing as your are veering towards oncoming traffic or putting pedestrians at risk...
Chill out, dude, this is how science and progress work. Testing limits is the only way we improve things-cars, planes, rockets, all of it. If we never pushed boundaries, we'd still be riding horses. The point is to find flaws so they can be fixed, making systems safer for everyone. And no, we’re not ‘laughing at risk’-we’re documenting the failures to make future versions better. It’s called innovation, not irresponsibility.
@@robotinreallife Yes innovation is essential, but the general public is not the ones who should be doing this testing. Maybe we should let people drink and drive to test the limits on what should be allowed there, but we don't because of the associated risk. I think all of these are well behind even V11 in capability. It's just an old software stack not really taking full advantage of neural networks...
its more stressful, than just regular driving. No wonder officially self driving is banned in EU
You kinda have it backwards. Because FSD is not allowed, Autopilot behaves so poorly. But that's going to change, hopefully soon.
Autopilot is the most crappy ADAS system ever. I never use them even though i have tesla. Sooooo dangerous and stupid
