Here's an interesting fact : Reiss means " to tear/ tearing" in Germany so Historia Reiss basically translates to " Tearing History " which she did by refusing to pursue the path her ancestors did for years. Some great stuff.

I just love how AOT took a background character that people barely even noticed in season 1 and has now made her into one of the best characters in the whole show

Not everyone didn't look at her.
From the start I was curious about Christa/Historia.
There was always something off with her being way too kind and joyful.
Especially since that didn't change much even after Trost, I just couldn't believe it was natural.
And looking at how ED2 has Annie separate from everyone, people I guessed were in the clear, I guessed everyone else there was somewhat special when it came to the "truth".
So it wasn't surprising that Reiner and Baretold were the Colossal and Armored titans.
And with that, I knew Historia and Ymir were also important.
Guess I'm that one guy who really paid attention to the eds and openings and ended up paying attention to the characters in return.

As Rod Reiss is manipulating her, she thinks of what Ymir told her on the tower. Ymir says something like, "Make choices you can be proud of, live your own way," and this causes Historia to disobey her dad, run up to Eren and free him as this song plays. It is SUCH a beautiful narrative written by Isayama, and I love how the studio chose Ymir's song as a background to really illuminate how much Ymir and Historia impact each other.

Just wanna say. This anime is one of the those things that would be remembered not just by the anime community but also the entire story telling industry. This is an anime of our generation marking history in our times.

If you pay attention to the lyrics it's literally telling the story of ymir and Christa. Ymir had wondered the world as a titan for 64 years until she ate a titan shifter and turned human.
She made her way into the walls and heard christa's name in a conversation. When they finally met she didn't understand her kindness. Her time as a titan was a hellish nightmare for ymir but when she met Christa it was like a light had come into her life.
Then the fight with reiner and bertolt ymir was torn between Christa or joining reiner, Christa made it clear that which ever she chose she would follow her. Then when ymir made her choice and said goodbye to Christa, leaving a part of herself with her.
When Christa's father was going to turn her into a titan the memories of ymir telling her to live a life she can be proud of she seemed to have finally gotten her some courage and she went on to smash the needle along with the serum, break her father's back and free eren, hence what leaving apart of myself behind meant. Ymirs courage and attitude seemed to have rubbed off on historia during their time together.
The rest of the song is pretty much historia standing up and taking her rightful place as queen.
Well, while the first part about it being in ymir's perspective is right, I think, after that, it is told through Mikasa's perspective, and how she loves Eren, and then, at the end, both mikasa and ymir sing about their lovers.
@@raawesome3851 I can see why you would say that but for mikasa that was probably an hour spent with the kidnappers, it was talking about someone's life being a nightmare. I also wouldn't understand why they would randomly put something about mikasa and eren in there and them ho back to ymir and historia. And another thing, isayama has made it very clear that eren doesn't return mikasa's feelings, so he wouldn't make a song about it.

CH130 - About the nature of Historias pregnacy.
We can totally discard the hypotesis of the MP's about the nature of Historia's pregnacy, about it being part of some complot to fuck them after this chapter. Absolutely nothing supports what they said. Never ever, Eren, Zeke, Floch, Yelena or Zeka have mentioned thay they needed/planed Historia to have a child for their real plans. Then, we can confirm that the nature of the existence of this child really was love like Kruger flashback hinted...
Now I think that just like Eren refused to let Historia sacrifice herself. "Forcing" her to remember her real self. She will do the same with Eren. So, Historia suggestion to have a child with him is to give Eren the will to live beyond the horrors of the rumbling. "Forcing" him to come back and father their child no matter what.
I think we can expect a brutal final battle. Eren unwillingness to hurt his friends was the only advantage the alliance had.

But unlike her mother Historia chose to love her baby and gave her kid a happy childhood. The circumstances might have forced it to happen, but she did have a choice in loving and accepting her kid.

Now I get it after reading Chapter 130.. This is Historia making a deal with the devil (Eren); but somehow their roles are reversed as opposed to the Devil (King Fritz) making a deal with the girl (Ymir). The first deal showed the devil offering up his "apple" (does that mean children?) to Ymir, and the second deal which was seemingly portrayed in the book Historia was reading when she was a kid; if you look closely the manner and appearance of the deal changed--from the devil's appearance having blonde hair and beard greedily reaching out to the girl [King Fritz & Ymir] in the original version [season 2 ed 2], to suddenly be different where it wore a cloak (like Eren) looked to be hesitant, and is the one being offered the apple by the girl, who now was reaching out *to* the Devil [Eren and Historia] that was depicted in Historia's book which Frieda read to her in Season 3 (If I remember correctly, the girl's name in the book was Christa and not Ymir somehow). Although this is just a theory (I saw this--not mine), a lot can happen still. We shall wait.

Someone shared a theory on Reddit. Eren calling Historia ‘the worst girl in the world’ shows how much me feels indebted to her saving him in the cave. She gave him the will to live. That line is essentially a reversal of their positions from then. Eren wanted to die back then due to being overwhelmed by guilt. Historia restored his confidence/resolve by becoming his ‘ally’ and reasoning how the Reiss family had bad intentions for Paradis as a whole, as they inherited the first King’s will prioritizing the outside world. *Now* we are presented with a regression of Historia’s character arc in being false to herself, the ‘selfless Krista’ who put others before herself. Eren put stops this mindset and reminds her who she really is and the contradictions she consciously denies. In reality she doesn’t want to die. Nor does Historia support a future in which her children are ultimately bred and killed in repeated cycle, like cattle. She is convinced that it is in the best interests of Paradis and (outside) humanity, but Eren snaps her out of it. He reinvigorates her resolve to live in parallel to their moment together in the Reiss cave and wagon. Even now there’s plenty of evidence that suggests she is *still* Eren’s ally.

2. She proposed pregnancy (which I’ll elaborate on down below)
All in all we are still left ambiguous to the father’s identity confirmation, but it is *very* obvious. Obvious enough to even consider canon lol. Eren has been shown time and time again to have a strong protective bias in favor of Historia. Whether this is considered ‘love’ or his debt of her saving him remains debatable. One thing is clear, the full rumbling was initiated to ensure Historia’s survival. Zeke’s euthanasia and the 50-year plan both instilled her inevitable sacrifice. The full rumbling was so the threat of invasion or outside interference was completely destroyed. Without a threat of Nation endangerment there’d be no need for Historia’s titan inheritance. This chapter he was glossing over the thought of Mikasa’s love, while thinking of Historia’s baby plan! Back to my point. Why was pregnancy proposed? I think Historia suggested pregnancy to force Eren’s survival by was of responsibility. It is contradictory for Eren to deflect fatherhood by dying, as that would leave the child abandoned in a sense. Isayama himself stated that the man in the final panel ‘surpassed his father’. Who else could this mean apart from Eren. Grisha firstly used Zeke as a means to an end for the Eldian restorationists. A tool born without love. Eren will be different, his child was born of love and will be freed of the shackles of hatred and prejudice ever prevalent since King Fritz’s reign. The fruits of his labor, all of his efforts, lie in that single child. And that’s why I think Historia proposing pregnancy has much more value and depth than given face value. Her initiative will surely influence the happening events yet to come. Remember, Isayama stated ‘this will not have a happy ending’ but I am 100% certain Eren will live past the rumbling and father their child with Historia. I expect the 104th will be entirely mindwiped by use of the founding titan (because Eren considers them his friends, wanting to avoid casualties). Mikasa is *immune* to the founding titan’s powers so I suspect her death near the end. All things point to Ymir getting reincarnated and PATHS getting destroyed. The reign of titans is coming to closure. And the child will be proof of that :)
Bonus: This song strongly implies Historia’s point of view in reference to Eren.

If you didn’t notice already, Historia cares more about herself and Eren than the world; They are *bigger.* The ‘promise’ likely refers to the baby’s conception as insurance for Eren‘s survival. The ‘secret’ is their relationship, which is disadvantageous if revealed public. In that regard implying the farmer is nothing but a cover-up as safety for Historia.
There’s also many similarities ongoing in the manga foreshadowed by the song FYI.

Historia and Eren are by far one of the most well written relationships that I've seen, as Shojo manga reader i can say that. From the very beginning they are completely platonic as characters, both have similar personalities with similar traumas, you know that the concept of freedom in both characters is practically the same a this is the principal point in their relationship, Eren and Historia never will never accept that their fates are in other hands even is if the "correct" because for them the point of being free is the individualism, you cannot be free if you live life by other people, if our existence means the death of other is correct to sacrifice to a greater good? No, from the very beginning we born free no matter how strong are those who want to refuse that or how many are. Eren and Historia are fighting for their own freedom, if you pay attention to the stories of both you can se that they doesn't deserve nothing of what happened to both, the world is the only guilty here, greedy governments making stupid actions that had horrendous consequences for the rest of the world. This make their relation way more logic, Eren, Historia and Ymir are practically in the same situation and they understand each other as no one others can, so it's normal for the circumstances that they starting to get more close, because they find in the other that thing that the world was taking from them, the dignity and confidence in the other, because no other people can understand their desire to being free. and you know what? That is how real relationships works, we need others because sometimes the world is so hard to face it alone. U could say that it's not true love. but what is true love, it even exist? Because if true love is that what Mikasa feels for Eren then you're really wrong. At the end I think that love is something as simple as find someone that help you to not feel so alone in the world, someone in you can trust, someone you can feel who understands you. Eren and Historia maybe aren't a romantic couple that everyone will love to see, they are a realistic couple in a horror story, their lives never have been normal for a single second, their own existence are a treat for the rest of the world, not because they did something bad, just only because the world is just that cruel.
Is funny how Eremika shippers are so triggered about the last chapter that they comes making theories out of context as Historia Making a deal with the devil, we all know that was Ymir that gives the path to Eren to reach the rumbling.
But what it's more dangerous is the toxic idea about love that they had, Mikasa is suffering too much by her obsession with Eren, she loves him way more than herself and there's nothing romantic about that, she have Thanatophobia, a irrational fear to the death of others. Eren is right about her slave condition, maybe not by Ackerman's blood but by his obsession with Eren, you can see this if you re-watch the series and paying attention to the interactions of both, it seems like Mikasa never knew anything about Eren's true feelings and how he was suffering. Even in the last chapters she wasn't capable to left Eren and continue by herself and that makes her so tragic as character, she is a victim of all the circle of violence... All what Mikasa needs is to lear to love herself, not to be a Eren's slave.
