  • A video a while in the making but hopefully worth it.
We go amongst the bells and ringers during a quarter of Yorkshire Surprise Major; the ringing room clip taken last year during a previous attempt, but sadly lost.
Took the opportunity as well to get a slightly adventurous viewpoint of the tenor, a different viewpoint to get an overview of all the bells, as well as some rather interesting photos during the aftermath of storm Eunice.
St Nicholas sits the south end of theSevenoaks High Street, on top of the hill where the bells can be heard for some distance, though with some restrictions due to it's proximity to the school over the road and surrounding built up area.
The bells themselves are a 16cwt 8, cast by Mears in 1966; perhaps the back 6 being similar to St Vedast, Foster Lane. They are hung just above a small intermediate level where some of the ropes are drawn, they go very well, are a joy to ring and sound great when rung well. A little mushy in the ringing room with the door closed, but they certainly hum.
Some minor adjustments have been made to try and bring out the bells in the belfry a bit more with the available light.

These are also similar to St Pauls, Wokingham and St Andrew’s Holborn and also Groton School Chapel, Massachusetts.
