    Hi lee I have ball valves on my two bottom drains but around nine years ago I added the tees in my lines and because of costs I fitted slide valves they’ve been no problems at all I flush every day also

      John! I know they are a good bit off kit! I know loads off dealerships that have used them for years with no problem! Also it was not about cost it was about usability!!!!

    Great video. Just found your channel again, looking back. Some great content.
    I'm thinking of getting an ez pond. Did you go back and film more. Would be good to see how he clad it. What he thinks of it after running it. Also is that skimmer any good? Or would he recommended putting a wall skimmer in.
    Lots of questions 😂

  • @danharbun483
    @danharbun483 2 года назад +2

    Them ez pond are awesome when it's up and running it's going to be banging.the only thing I would off done is use the slide valves on the drum cut off and use ball valves for the purge just because when the slide valve starts to leak it will just drip in to the drum and not empty the pond if it did fail😉👍

    • @leehadfield6881
      @leehadfield6881  2 года назад

      Nice pond! I know what you mean about the slide valves but the ball valves are horrible to use on a weekly basis! The old drip will go straight to waste, but nice just to pull them handles up once a week

    • @danharbun483
      @danharbun483 2 года назад

      @@leehadfield6881 well come to think off it you can buy 4inch plugs to push into bottom drain to stop the pond from emptying to allow you to maintenance on them when the time comes👍

  • @jamesdawson5905
    @jamesdawson5905 2 года назад +3

    Main reason for the ball valves on the waste line is they are unlikely to wear with dirty water on the purge line, the opposite being true of slide valves. With very dirty water (from the purge line) there’s a chance a slide valve will fail

    • @kevinzwijnenberg7245
      @kevinzwijnenberg7245 2 года назад +2

      Yeah, he should have switched the 2 valves....

    • @leehadfield6881
      @leehadfield6881  2 года назад

      I know exactly what your saying! But the space we had to work with the ball valves would have taken up the whole floor! That’s exactly how I’m going to do my pond this year I think if space is tight

  • @skeggy
    @skeggy 2 года назад +1

    The only potential issue I can see is balancing the 2 bottom drains you'll have far more draw on the shorter drain run than the other ... I know you can throttle down the shorter run on the ball valve but they will need purging regularly ... if he upgrades the drum I would be fitting a second drum and running one on each line far better than trying to run 2 bottom drains on one

    • @skeggy
      @skeggy 2 года назад

  • @madaboutkoi
    @madaboutkoi 2 года назад +1

    Cracking ponds from the EZ lads. My grow on is from them.
    Slide valves should have been mounted on the drum fella and the ball valves on the purge valves as they are less likely to leak. Rule of thumb in this hobby is never fit slide valves to waste lines. Only gonna get worse over time and will be impossible to change the seals.
    Glad youve fitted the purge lines though mate as the max flow rate on that drum wont be enough to keep the both lines free of sediment.

    • @leehadfield6881
      @leehadfield6881  2 года назад +1

      Lovely them EZ ponds! Know exactly what you mean about the valves! But it was slide valves on the purges or no purges! If you get me. The pump house he’s got is just to small to have big valves lying on the floor!
      I can always replace them next week easily before we fill and complete the pond!

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi 2 года назад +1

      @@leehadfield6881 nice one 👍🏻
      Agree with ya that that compact M is just way too small. Barely run 1 drain never mind 2.

    • @leehadfield6881
      @leehadfield6881  2 года назад

      It is big enough for a compact L I recon if we redo the pipe work! But think he’s going to give it a go with the M first!
      I’ll just buy it off him 😂

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi 2 года назад +1

      @@leehadfield6881 TBH mate i wouldnt even go that route. Youre looking at circa 20k lph through each 4” line. Compact L only 25000. Youre gonna need something 35k lph minimum to keep those lines free of crap/sediment and ensure both drains are flowing correctly. Also that shower is gonna need lots of flow too.

  • @mickyoc1

    Same sort of set up as me 2000 gallon pond compact m , 20000 ea pump and 55w uv , ive only got one bottom drain though ,I’ve actually turned pump down to 50% because the flow seemed to much for the pond , like a whirlpool

    • @leehadfield6881
