Hi Cathy. Thank you for all these training videos. They are super helpful and thankfully I don't have to read the entire manual. Hope you'll make more vids.
Hello! I am a young woman who's father recently bought a $1,600 piano that she has no idea how to use 😅 Your tutorials are great and easily to follow along. Thank you!
I hope you are still monitoring your youtube account. I have seen a lot of videos for this keyboard but yours are the most informative and the video file is clear and easy to see. I'm assuming that you are a professional musician but if you're not, you should be. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad the videos are helpful. I have had two different Yamaha Motif keyboards starting in 2004. I am self taught and have figured out a lot on the keyboard, but there is much that I still don't know. It was at first so if I can help others with their struggles, I am happy. I recently retired from a college where I was the full-time staff accompanist but where I also did a lot of composing and arranging for both the choir and the orchestra. I have used the keyboard to make demo recordings of my orchestrations, to make soundtrack recordings for the theater department and local community theaters, to play different instruments live in the orchestra (like harp parts, some bell parts, celeste parts, piano parts, etc.), as a midi keyboard for my work in Sibelius (music notation software), theater pit orchestra playing, etc., etc.
I haven't done this . . . see if you find anything on this page to help: www.reddit.com/r/piano/comments/vr9mug/how_to_connect_a_yamaha_moxf8_to_ipad_pro/?rdt=36726
After you create a song, you can use your arrow keys to navigate yourself to an empty track (one that you have not recorded anything on). Go to Category Search and choose the instrument that you want to play and hit enter. Now hit the play button on the sequencer and as the song you previously recorded plays, you can play along live. To see a song that I created, watch my video "How to record a song, name it and save it. This is just a sample song, but you will get the idea of some of the possibilities.
Hello Cathy, Does your Moxf8 have the flash drive installed so to be able to load your own samples? If so, have you done a video explaining how to load samples and use them either in voice mode and/or performance mode? thanks.
I have used a flash drive to save songs but I have never loaded my own samples. Sorry! Maybe this video will help you? www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=how+do+you+load+samples+onto+mofx8+keyboard&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_a77WZY74IK-gkPIPq5enUA_34.
I am not sure exactly what you are asking. If you are asking whether you can assign the sustaining pedal to work on only half or part of the keyboard, I think the answer is no.
Hi Cathy T. Is there a way I can download your videos to use offline? I tried RUclips Premium and it's not what I want. Your videos are what keeps me interested in learning how to use my MOXF8. I will pay money for them.
Cathy, Is there a way to connect the MOX8 to MIDI and play to record directly to a PC program so I can print out the music played. I have Finale Song Writer.
Absolutely! I have my MOXF8 connected to my iMac through an interface unit called Scarlett Focusrite. (If you buy a Focusrite, make sure it has the midi input in the back. They don't all come with that.) I have a midi cable coming out of the back of my MOXF8 and into the back of the Focusrite. The Focusrite is then connected to my computer. I use Sibelius (music notation software program) and I play on my keyboard and it prints in Sibelius. I do this ALL THE TIME. BUT, just letting you know . . . if you want to try to play in "real time," keeping a steady beat, and have it print, you will spend so much time editing the notated music afterwards, that it's not worth trying to play in real time. I just input the notes by playing them on the keyboard one beat/chord at a time. I keep one hand on the computer keyboard selecting quarter notes, eighth notes, etc., as I go along and the other hand playing on the keyboard one beat at a time - - not in "real time." I'm pretty fast, having done this for years. Then I go back and do the same thing in the other clef the same way (assuming your are notating piano music). It takes a bit more time, but overall takes less time and there is less frustration with the editing that you will have to do if you try to record in "real time." This is my opinion! If the music is very basic, and you are an expert at quantizing, you may have better luck than I have had.
@@cathyt6773 wow. I will have to work up to it. Although a little better now, I do not read music. Having tought myself how to play piano, everything is in my head and comes out my fingers. In any key. Timing is a killer. Lol. A long time ago I used a shareware program called music time. It got everything I was playing onto paper. Totally blew me away. If I had tried to play by site reading I would still be trying to interpret it 40 years later. Thank you for your tips. I just subscribed and am excited to finally be able to explore the MOX.

Glad to see new postings, your videos are incredibly helpful! Any idea how to use the Moxf as a midi controller with an iPad?

Thanks for the tutorials Cathy. Are you able to show us a song that you created with your moxf? Are we able to create a song and play along with live?

Maybe just film it with your phone camera as it plays on your computer…
@@cathyt6773 Well that's a great idea, didn't think of that! Thanks!
