This game took world building to an intergalactic level. If you look at the lore and eavesdrop on conversations. The reason for asari attractiveness is because they’re a parasitic race. No matter what genes they use for procreation, the resulting offspring will be an Asari, the drawback is that they can only produce offspring once every decade. So as a biological imperative they are supposed to seem attractive to every race. The arguments that the salarian, the turban, and the human have in the bar about how an Asari looks like more as one of their races when all of their assertions are partially true is a testament to how much detail and care they placed in the world building and how the lore is shown even in minute ways. How salarians have in reality very short life spans and how Mordin is actually an old man and still just as fit for combat as any young guy. Wrex being 800 years old and the Asari council leader being (if I remember correctly 1400) Samara also being older than Wrex, then of course the sound of the Drell, Hanar, Volus, etc. how they speak because of the lore of their natural habitats in their home planets and being in a different environment which impedes their speech, movements, etc. the true dedication to lore is if you went full renegade and tried sleeping with Morinth, Samara’s daughter (if you killed Samara that is), anyone that mates with an Ardat-Yakshi has their nervous system overloaded and completely fried. Which results in death, if you sleep with her it’s an instant game over. Hilarious but dang bioware of old being so dedicated to the lore of the universe that they built, is absolutely phenomenal
The asari thing is just a joke they're not parasitic life form. humans like them because they look like human women, turians like them because of the head crests, and salarians because of the colour of their skin.
Luke Hodgson yes it is, which is why I was really pissed when Anit Sarkesian or however you spell her last name advised BioWare on Andromeda and made the characters all PC but it doesn’t fit in the Mass Effect universe. Oh and how they collectively made all the Asari look very unattractive because she thought it was pandering and never once considered the lore, made me realize that BioWare no longer had creative control over their franchise. Yeah it was disappointing to see that all the Asari looked the same and looked quite hideous in ME:A. Regardless, the attention to detail throughout the trilogy and mannerisms, that characters had was also quite incredible. Look at Liara’s father (her other mother) she’s part Krogan but her behaviors and her way of speaking and her looks weren’t cookie cutter, they were unique and yet still captured the attractiveness that the Asari are supposed to have in the lore. The green Asari from the thorium in ME1 and ME2 also held true to this level of detail, how she spoke, how she gestured, and yet again, maintained the Asari races lore. It’s funny, not just the Asari race held true to that, look at captain kirrahe in ME1 to Major Kirrahe in ME3 a salarian that also upheld the lore, while retaining his uniqueness as a character despite similar physical characteristics with other members of his race. Mordin Solus, same thing. Wrex, Grunt, Wreav even. The non human characters throughout the series had by far the most character throughout the trilogy and all of them maintained a very visceral form of individuality as well as holding true to the race’s lore. That is some mind blowing dedication to world building and lore. Yes it is completely fine to say that you thought that Asari looked attractive, they are supposed to be! That’s how they succeed on an evolutionary stand point. That is literally their lore, they are supposed to be attractive. Imagine a race of ugly Asari that could procreate once every decade and they look like trolls. Yeah their species would have died out or been exterminated. It’s not rocket science. Look how ducks or peacocks attract their mates, if they aren’t attractive, they die with no offspring, and that’s within their own race not mixing with other races. It’s such an important fact about that race and yet every fan got blasted by Anita, because she understands nothing. Fear not, screw Anita’s man hating opinions, and go make blue babies with your waifu. 👍
Krogan don't use parachutes, they just jump and fire at the ground with their huge goddamn shotguns and use the recoil to slow their fall, Devil May Cry style.
There is a little bit more nuance than just "They wanted to explore the galaxy." It's noted that "The Council became concerned as the krogan began to annex territory from other Citadel races. The krogan became more aggressive as other races tried to protect their worlds, until the krogan attempted to settle the asari colony of Lusia. When told by the Council to leave, the krogan refused. Their representative, Overlord Kredak, stormed out of the Council chambers, daring them to take their worlds back. War broke out afterward.", at which point the krogan rebellions happened, which the galactic barely managed to quell with the help of the newly joined Turians. Actually, I just checked, and apparently the only reason the Council won was due to the Genophage getting released, which destroyed one of the Krogans biggest advantages, that being their rapid breeding rate that lended itself to virtually unending reinforcements. The Krogan only gave up after that. I have no idea what could have happened if the Genophage wasn't released, but it doesn't seem like it would be pretty. In my opinion though, the Genophage seems like it was neccesary to win, but after the Krogan surrenderd it should have been cured, and instead of it the Krogans shouldn't have been allowed to have a military beyond the bare minimum with maximum surveliance applied. Still terrible, but much better, and sadly something like that would be needed, as the Krogans are naturally warlike, and the only reason they stopped being like that was due to Wrex's efforts, and we don't even know for how long that peace would have lasted after his death.
Also it is mention that they receive some planets after the war, but when they overflow their population started invading. Thats why is a bit tricky giving them back the ability to reproduce freely.
the only problem i have with the Krogans is that breed at 1000 time faster then human while they where stuck on their home it was a good thing because dangers of that world keep pop a healthy number but when to a safer world they would be over pop in a short time just so you know humans birth rate about 130 million babies per year that just one world with a pop 7.594 billion if we use this numbers as a average base we looking at pop increase 130 billion per year all world can't handle that number of people Nakmor Kesh said that the improved survival rate from 0.1% to 4% gave her people a chance to have a future in Andromeda. most are not know Krogans would have defeat the Genophage Naturally but Mordin's STG team discovered the krogan were naturally overcoming the genophage. The only option the team could agree upon was to design and implement a new genophage.
Like even in andromeda the first they almost all collectively did, was fight other colonists and fuck off, also if I recall correctly, they were a large part of the rebellion.
Wrex is like the fun Uncle of the Normandy, he is so fun to be around. Grunt is like the little kid you need to reign in, which is even more wholesome.
Singularleaf38 I completely agree. Garrus best friend and/or sometimes adorably awkward partner that just wants you to wait a bit cuz he’s in the middle of some fikin calibrations, Wrex the old uncle that shows up once in a while and casually headbutt you for the last slice of turkey at the Christmas dinner, Grunt the teenage son/little brother that def totally ain’t smoking pot and Tali the family friend from overseas/sister with about 2 785 396,8 allergies plus germophobia, a cute ass accent and eeeemergancy induction port. So, I'm not in the Genophage's corner here- it was way overkill- but the Krogan were doing a hell of a lot more than "exploring the galaxy." They were actively stomping other Council Races off of settled worlds and claiming them for themselves. I mean, they even chucked some doomsday level meteors at 3 different planets. Genophage was overkill (though it honestly may have been necessary at the time of its initial deployment), and I do think that the Krogan learned their lesson by the time if the trilogy and side with them every time in the matter, but we can't really pretend they were just innocent little puppies during the whole ordeal.
@@bozoforce Yeah without them to guide the Krogans down a better path they'll just repeat their previous mistakes but not without the rest of the galaxy having any means of slowing their advance. The forced control of the Krogan population falls under a "needs of the many out way the needs of the few" situation. The Genophage was way to overkill but something had to be done.
Yeah... those sorts of errors happen in these videos fairly often despite the fact they're reading from associated Wiki pages. Another massive mistake is that Karl thought Humanity shot first in the First Contact War even though the Turians took the policy of 'shoot first, hope the Council doesn't find out later' when they came across a new species.
With Wrex and Bakara leading the Krogan they become a more peaceful species. Especially with Bakara. And they were uplifted specifically for conquest- that’s the councils fault. The Genophage was too much, the bomb on their planet was too much. It led them to the path their on. Curing the genophage and disabling the bomb leads to the planet reviving, they’re allowed to spread to planets they were on before they were infected that they had already been on for centuries. It’s never a cut and dry issue. But the salarians took iit way too far by esensially turning them into warlords as, the women played such a pivitol roll in maintaining peace, but many ended up killing themselves due to the shame of being infertile. You literally get so much information from Bakara about how the genophage caused more issues than it caused

While I agree in principle, it is startlingly optimistic to ask fo this with Bioware basically a trash fire since Dragon Age Inquisition wound down, at the most generous. We might get better graphics, and shooting, but I wouldn't expect anything else to be improved, and it is far too likely any change to the plot would be much, much worse with basically the entire management staff of that period driven out by EA. Bioware isn't Square or even Capcom's RE team, they don't have the leverage to call the creative shots to make a truly great remaster that innovates on the foundation of the original. This is very much a case of be careful what you wish for.

The council found the turians and used them to fight the krogan, but were still loosing, so then the salarians created the genophage.
No they weren't. The Krogans were never on the council. The council elevated the Krogans to fight the Rachni invasion. The Citadel Council was always made up of the Asari, Turians, and Salarians.

Shepard does a shot of ryncol (the "ground glass" liquor) if you buy enough shots at the Dark Star Lounge, the bar in the Citadel Wards in ME2. Shepard slams the drink, drops, the screen goes black, and we return to Shepard recovering on the floor in the toilet.
Femshep all the way. Male Shep is for romancing Tali because she's 2nd best girl, best girl is Renegade Fem Shep. Most of the humans you run into a human-supremecists.... so screw those people, and with the aliens I wanted to show them that humans can be better.

@@wyattcastle7225 And if you sacrifice Kaiden, she is in the second game (if you have the genesis dlc that let's you choose which of them you sacrificed). I always sacrifice Ash because I just can't stand her being xenophobic and racist
I think you need a character like Ashley in Mass Effect. How many other alien characters are racist towards humanity within the series? You need a xenophobic character in your party to have the dialogue of someone not willing to trust aliens. If most normal people saw a Hanar, everyone would mistrust a floating single entity jellyfish.
Eh, I might have felt that way if it was a simple distrust of aliens, but "I can't tell the aliens from the animals!" was where I decided Kaidan wasn't boring enough to let her live. Having said that, I did always laugh at that one memorial broadcast in the second game where she was quoted, "Human or alien, we're all just animals." Which is...certainly one interpretation of the line.
Mistrust is understandable, but a character actively spouting globalist rhetoric and anti alien opinions when the explicit goal of the first game is showing the council humanity is ready to be a team?

This lack info on why Krogan was hit by genophage. I remember I managed to save the rachni, and the krogan, and united the geth and quarians, that last scene in mass effect 3 when you ride in with everyone was epic
I remember my first fem-shep. I made the mistake of only looking at her face straight on during character creation. 👍

Badass turtle-frogs vs basically 2020 murder hornets
Not exactly frogs- more like toads crossed with a tortoise. Salarians are the frogs/salamanders.
Krogans are inspired in bats.
True. Also, the threat of the genophage was meant to be used a deterrent, but the Turians deployed it anyway.
Hey, so im not the only one remember that the krogan isn't just wondering around the galaxy but wage wars against the council
Like even in andromeda the first they almost all collectively did, was fight other colonists and fuck off, also if I recall correctly, they were a large part of the rebellion.

If Rex and the female Krogan die, the correct thing to do is not cure the genophage.

While I agree in principle, it is startlingly optimistic to ask fo this with Bioware basically a trash fire since Dragon Age Inquisition wound down, at the most generous.
