    Why must the concentrations of reacting substances be multiplied and even raised to some powers?

      Hi Gelo, Every reactant impacts the rate in a unique way. It can only be experimentally determined how each reactant impacts rate. It cannot be predicted. It is a unique property of each reactant in a reaction. Thanks! Great question:)
