Back in 2017, I was blessed to visit Scotland for the first time. Family, locals just south of Glasgow, introduced me to the Glengoyne distillery during my visit. I was intrigued how it straddled two regions (the lowlands and highlands). Prior to my visit, I fancied the Islay malts. However, and for whatever reason, Glengoyne presented something magical to me. The distillery lived up to its name and was quite beautiful. The whiskey, just as good, if not better than the beauty of its location and infrastructure, was nothing shy of a delight on my palate. Perhaps this was my turning point, opening me up to the plethora of Scotch which Scotland had to offer. And, unfortunately, the state I live in, I cannot get Glengoyne. However, I have found a similar Highland malt substitute that has become my staple. I can no longer say that I am an Islay man. Thank you Glengoyne for such an introduction to the other regions. You have set the example and, you have definitely honed your craft. I did bring back a couple bottles of different years and can honestly say that i wasn't disappointed. And your tour of your facility was top notch. Thank you for the memories.
just tasted 12yo single malt for the first time and I am really surprised that indeed non-smoky scotch is real. And oh god it tasted gooood. it was very smooth
