@9:00 one of my favorite kevin dunn stories. they were going to bring back terry funk. dunn supposedly said "no one knows who is terry funk. fans have short memories."
so terry creates chainsaw charlie. he debuts. the audience immediately begins chanting "TERRY, TERRY, TERRY!!!"
Well the Beaver spoke too soon. He must have had a vision of modern fans
I remember Jim Cornette telling this story. And yet he wanted the announcers to hype up this retired baseball player that most wrestling fans had probably never heard of.
And Jim Ross called him Terry Funk as much as he called him Chainsaw Charlie.
Terry Funk came up with Chainsaw Charlie. Bruce Prichard wanted him to redebut as himself by coming out of a giant present box gifted to Cactus Jack. But Terry thought that was boring, and suggested that he saw himself out of the box as “Chainsaw Charlie”
@@LukeLeonettiRUclipsim pretty sure that wasnt the only issue with the proposed debut considering abdullah the butcher debuted in WCW in pretty much the same exact way. hell, cactus jack was the guy to give the gift in that case
Good ol Bucky Beaver
And I read that in Jim corvette voice lol
@@EastyyBlogspot I think every body did...
He has 3 names, it should always be: Bucky Beaver Motherfukker.
@@EastyyBlogspot Same here.
Kevin Dunn wanted Becky Lynch off TV, because he didn't want to use anyone who "had an accent."
Bucky Beaver also said Becky wasn't attractive. Because Kevin Dunn is such a prize.
And just when I thought Kevin Dunn couldn't get any more unlikeable.
I was surprised this wasn’t mentioned in the video.
I still believe that Kevin Dunn was inspired by "jiggle television" (Charlie's Angels, Baywatch, etc) when it came to how he wanted the show to look. Becky didn't fit that mold, so Dunn was sour on her. He was THE ONLY ONE who was.
I read that with Jim Cornette speaking like the Beaver
No one cares about women's wrestling since bra & panties Trish Stratus Torrie Wilson days
Calling Vince Russo a hack is an insult to hacks.
But people want him for some ungodly reason.
@D.J.Paige71 Never underestimate the power of human stupidity, I guess.
@@D.J.Paige71 Of course, no one can deny that mans ta............ im trying to say his tale....... i cant even type this out. His talen.......yea, even my fingers dont believe this statement
Shit stain cough, cough
@@D.J.Paige71 who does? WCW did once and he ruined then, not alone but he had a bad enough part.
“You know what Jim (chip chewing )I find you tiresome…”
Kevin Dunn
Cornette's impression is spot on!
Cornette's impression of Bucky Beaver Dunn never gets old. LOL!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything positive about Kevin Dunn or John Laurenitis.
And you never will.
I’ll say something positive about Kevin Dunn and John Laurenitis: They made the WWE a better place when they left.
You would hear positives about John Laurenitis from Japan Wrestling scene as he used to wrestle in all japan, teaming up with the best babyface wrestler in the pro wrestling history(kenta kobashi).
But that's because no one knows he's schemes and other stuff.
Tammy Sytch had nice things to say about Laurenitis. Which tells you all you need to know.
Like Jim Cornette once said, He didn't have a problem or issue with Vince. It's just his minions that worked for him, ( Dunn, Russo, and Pritchard) that he couldn't really stand working with.
Cornette is an idiot. He couldn't run how own org for even 3 years before it failed.
He mostly got on with Bruce though.
@@jvomkriegyes he got along with Prichard. But he probably found his asskissing obnoxious.
@@jvomkrieghe h8ed russo the most.
Don’t for get the Dynamic Pervert John Laryngitis
Stepahnie was the buffer that saved us all from an incest storyline with her dad. She paid her dues people.
Facts
And Vince's response was to suggest Shane instead. Who also told him to forget it.
Modern context about Vince McMahon repaints so many of those old stories worse, and frankly makes Stephanie as much a victim as anyone else considering how sexualised she was by her fathers own product
She also discovered women's wrestling.
Not so fast, pal. Stephanie just got named in Janelle Grants Sex Trafficking Lawsuit as one of the executives who knew about the abuse and even enabled it 💀
:EDIT:
READ THE NEWS PEOPLE. The affidavit got updated 3 days ago and expressively named Steph, Nick Kahn, and Michael Hayes as perpetrators.
Malenko was the main surprise on this list, the rest fit.
If you watch enough of Maven’s RUclips channel, you’d hear about how Dean was a huge dick to him.
Stevie Richards has also mentioned how much of a piece of crap Malenko was behind the scenes when Malenko was a WWE agent. ECW's Danny Doring also had some nasty things to say about Malenko as a WWE agent. Even when Malenko was still a WCW wrestler, Shane Douglas had some very nasty things to say about Malenko when Malenko lied to him and betrayed him while Malenko was transitioning from WCW to WWE.
@@johnpenguinthe3rd13 Stevie’s show is so underrated!
@@johnpenguinthe3rd13 it shocks me that Douglas isn't his biggest fan considering the history they had in ECW and then being part of Revolution in WCW.
Little man with a big chip
They often treated Jim Ross like trash on TV.
They don't deserve that man. They really don't
What's more confusing, is JR took it. And came back for more. Was fired, brought back, and repeatedly humiliated again and again.
I have no idea how JR, could/would work for a company that mistreated him sooooooo much.
@@robertferrick463 there was no aew back then. tna wasn't working for him either probably.
I imagine most of those clowns were just jealous of JR and how well respected he was.
Dishonorable mention: Brian Gerwirtz
Why?
He took over as lead writer from Vince Russo in late 1999 and gave us:
-The ignore-the-camera backstage cringe comedy segment
-The McMahon-Helmsley Era and their 20 minute promos
-Mae Young hand birth
-Billy/Chuck and their wedding
-Most of the Invasion angle
-Katie Vick
Etc. Etc.
How many people who were WWF fans in 1998/1999 tuned out in 2000-2003? Yeah, exactly.
He's the wrestling equivalent of the show-runners of The Simpsons Season 9-10
Katie vick was hilarious 😂 only modern fans cry about that
@@mikealalee2889 Yeah, fans back then just stopped giving WWE money.
When Ron Killings cut a promo on TNA about someone in WWE being racist, I knew immediately it was Michael Hayes.
Kevin Dunn is epitome of what happens if Jerry Seinfeld becomes a hall monitor. Which essentially is what he was for Vince.
Kevin Dunn strikes me as the kind of nerd who was just WAITING for his turn to be a bully. The kind that get mistaken for being "nice" when he's ACTUALLY just "quiet."
And I will NEVER forget Kenny Omega's story about when DeMott ordered him to a "pick a part and work it the entire match."
So Kenny kept doing Atomic Drops and when he got backstage, DeMott furiously demanded, "I told you to work a body part and you chose--?"
"The ASS, Bill. THE ASS!"
Thats why omega is selling out bingo halls now😂
@mikealalee2889 I didn't know the Omega vs Okada matches took place in a bingo hall? 🤔
Johnny Ace also deserved a: "I Hear Jim Cornette is a big fan". His mismanagement basically drove him out of OVW.
Can never forgive Vince or Dunn for not ending Over the Edge 1999 after Owen's passing. The fact that Dunn nonchalantly told J.R. that Owen passed before putting him back on was crazy when I heard from Ross on DSOTR
Sometimes I watch compilations of wrestlers moves and moments in wwe over the years, you can really tell the increase in camera production quality after Dunn left
Yeah it is better. I still wish there were fewer camera angle switches though. It gives me a headache sometimes.
Sensible decision to have old Ratfink himself as the video thumbnail 😂
In a not-too-different timeline, Kevin Dunn exited the company/mortal coil in the mid-90s, after driving Paul Bearer to the breaking point with political nonsense.
Giving Bill Demott the name General Hugh G. Rection in WCW turned out to be a perfect fit, given how much of a Dick Clark he truly is
Also, does anyone else notice how much Kevin Dunn looks like Joe Gatto from Impractical Jokers?
He does!
Kevin Dunn looks like peter pettigrew from harry potter
It's possible that he is Joe Gatto himself.
Don't insult Joe gatto like that. Joe is a legend
@@dashtoroya2838 if only you knew how Hollywood works
I wonder how many people it took to stop Mark Henry from killing Micheal Hayes
Kevin Dunn made WWE unwatchable for years
i remember watching the royal rumble in 2021 and getting sick. i actually thought it was the beer i was drinking and the food i was eating. then as i continue watching, that feeling kept coming back. the seizure inducing camera cuts were killing me.
Before pressing play my guess for top 3 was Vince, Johnny Ace, and Kevin Dunn. Sometimes the easiest answer is the most obvious
Just realized Kevin Dunn looks like Bizarro Michael Cole
Mark Carrano makes me think he's one of those corporate types who think people are just cogs in a machine. The way he made garbage bagging belongings shows how much he thought of people.
For the longest time, Kevin Dunn seemed to have the most stable job in the business. Even Bruce Pritchard had to leave his job every so often, but Dunn just kept plucking along.
Kevin Dunn, Vinnie Mac's right hand man
Stephanie even treated patrice O'neal bad when he was on the writing team
RIP
Stephanie is Vince with a BBL look at pictures of her now its Vince McMahon with breast implants and a BBL
@@HighrollinhunterSteph don’t got no BBL bruh
@@Highrollinhunter Someones daughter looks like a female version of them. HOLD THE PRESSES, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.
And Patrice wasn't the type to hold his tongue to keep a job, he'd ask you to clarify what you said, and would proceed to roast the hell out of you.
He was a legend, but was too real to play ball with Hollywood.
Johnny Ace was also was the guy that suggested Sid do the middle rope big boot that destroyed his leg… so there’s that lol
Also remember johnny ace heavily pressured sid vicous to jump off the second rope in wcw where he broke his leg literally in half
That fact that he wasn’t blackballed from the business after pressuring Sid to pull that stunt still confuses me to this day.
Of all the injuries that I've seen wrestlers have, that's one that I watched one time and could never watch again. It truly makes me ill.
As soon as I l heard Mark Carrano, I immediately groaned. That guy was a piece of work.
Edit: to find out he was the one who sent Mickie James’ belongings in garbage bags. I take it back, guy wasn’t a piece of work, he was a piece of 💩 who got canned. How ironic.
I can never watch these lists without being distracted by the alternative names given to people to avoid saying their name twice in a row. "The tough enough season one winner" "by the former light-heavyweight champion." I don't know why, it always gets me.
Imagine looking like Kevin Dunn and trying to get people fired for not being attractive enough.
Kevin Dunn vs. Vince Russo vs. Cornette
Best dream match idea. Hands down. Prove me wrong!
Cornette would demolish them if it was a shoot
I saw Miz in the intro and was just waiting to pop off in the comments. Thankfully, someone had the good sense to keep him off this list. In terms of his work ethic and professionalism I'd put him neck and neck with Cena himself. Close to 20 years in the WWE and he's never injured anyone or had a major controversy. He does a ton of appearances and fan interactions, always with a smile on his face. One of my top three favorite wrestlers of the 21st century.
I agree with you. I remember his days in MTV's The Real World, talking about wanting to be "The Miz," and to see him achieve that dream, bit, by bit, learning every lesson possible, earning every step of the way ... nothing but love & respect to The Miz.
Kevin Dunn, on the other hand... that son of a busted condom can go to Hell.
My problem with the miz always was and is that he's a glorified midcarder. He isn't revolutionary, he didn't bring something new and he does not stand out. Hes midcard personified.
I've always liked Mike ever since he was on MTV...lol! Thats where he first introduced "The Miz".
Miz had a few issues when he first came to WWE but he learned his lessons and I believe he's become a integral part of the company.
I maintain to this day that The Miz is underrated and deserves every bit of success he’s achieved. He may not light the world on fire with his ring work, but you need a solid hand, he’s there. Need someone to get heat on the mic or in the ring, he’s there. Need a gatekeeper for someone entering the Midcard, he’s there. Company PR, charity events, the whole nine yards, you can count on Miz.
Doesn’t hurt that the man is genuinely one of the kindest human beings from what I’ve heard backstage. I am not ashamed or embarrassed to call myself a fan of The Miz.
Russo's whole lore of going from writer to on screen character is the stuff of infammy. Dude became a legit villain in the business. WCW matches were as long as the old Divas era matches
Kevin Dunn and Johnny Ace could be classed as one entry in a lot of ways. As they both worked closely in determining the look of WWE's product.
Dunn for example is noted as others have pointed out to have wanted Becky Lynch taken off TV. But he also reportedly said that AJ Lee "wasn't fuckable enough" to be featured.
Johnny Ace meanwhile was hiring women he found in swimsuit and lingerie catalogues. He would call their agents and ask if they wanted to make some decent money and become worldwide TV stars.
I believe it was also Johnny Ace who turned down hiring Jay & Mark Briscoe in 2009, by telling them that they were not "cosmetically pleasing enough for the WWE".
I've honestly never heard any bad stories about Malenko, The rest yes!
Imagine being racist to Mark Henry.
To be fair, I hear that Cornette is a massive fan of Johnny Ace as well.
Both of these comments might get you heat from somewhere.
What? Are you nuts? Cornette doesnt like him.
Why is cornette the measuring stick for cool and not cool?
He had his own org and it went bankrupt in less than 3 years. He had old guys like Jerry Lawler as champion, in 1995.
He talks a lot of shit, but his ideas got him nowhere. He was given a manager gig with an already famous tag team, and now he thinks he's the all knowing God of wrestling.
He's a great historian, but that doesn't mean he knows shit about booking. He books what he likes, but that shit is from the 60's.
@@DrSpoculus You dont even know what are you saying, holy hell.
Please tell me the budget that SMW had. And it was able to have a tv deal and a lot of grear talent there.
Given an already famous team? That is just factually wrong. He thinks is the god of wrestling? Tell me when he said that.
Have you ever booked a wrestling show with Jim Ross? Or Ric Flair? Or Vince McMahon? Or any ROH show? Please shut up.
@@barbarodaveare you daft!?
Damn its crazy thst its been 18 years since the Demott storys started to come out and almost a full decade since everything finally went tits up for him.
Good riddance.
You forgot one from the list of people Steph McM clashed with. Macho Man lol.
Johnny Ace and Vince McMahon should have been a tag team duo as the Cleveland Steamers
Haha to quote Jim Cornette in the famous YouShoot inverview:
Did anyone like John Laurinitis?
No! Nobody did. His own mother slapped the stork that delivered him.
I hear Jim Cornette's a big fan of this list.
God I love how in the last 2 years the top 3 people have been removed from WWE and agrue or agree but they did more harm then good to the company and the talent
the fact that a certain someone has nicknamed russo "shitstain" says all you need to know about russo
You missed the Jim Cornette trifecta with Johnny Ace. His now iconic "Thank you, fuck you, bye" was to Johnny
Little bit of an oldie, but basically everyone who worked in WWF from the mid-80s to the mid-90s has gone on record with stories about how Chief Jay Strongbow was one of the most toxic, conniving, unpleasant, and besides everything else inept men to ever hold any semblance of power in that system.
Absolute gentleman, it’s great to see you’re playing brilliant and get the plaudits you deserve
Ah finally.... my cultaholic wrestling video so I can have my lunch. Thanks for another good one fellas 🙏
still waiting for Jim Cornette and Brian Last to give us a Kevin Dunn Omnibus video
It'll probably be two parts hahaha
Already knew who number one was gonna be
Bucky the Beaver getting tired was the best move ever
Can you even consider Vince a backstage personality with how prevalent he was?
Yes. He was head booker.
Bucky 🦫
I Wouldn't be surprised if Vince McMahon is top of the List!
6:34 Jim Cornette is arguably one of the greatest Wrestling Managers of all time, yet he will always be remembered for his absolute hatred for Vince Russo. I hope that his contributions to the business doesn't get overshadowed by it all.
Cornette's hatred of Russo is one of his greatest contributions to pro wrestling.
@Richterdgf you have a point. Lol
@@Richterdgf Totally agree
Well cornette is a terrible person.
His wrestling takes are awful and don't forget, he is terrible as a promoter, his SMW sank expectedly. But he destroyed NWA's legacy by having loads of NWA champ being treated as a jobber in wwf just to satisfy Vince mcmahon.
And ROH were in their least successful years when he was in charge.
But him hating Russo is a delight to watch
11:22 thank goodness he’s pretty much been erased after hearing all this and everything that has happened in the past year and a half
(I’m at least very happy that Brock Lesnar didn’t get erased as well considering his name is part of the allegations involving him)
I still believe Kevin Bucktooth was the man who changed the camera with the chair shot at the Page and Swerve’s cage match
The Jim Cornett mentions 😂😂!
Michael Hayes has also now been named in the Janel Grant lawsuit so that makes him look even worse.
General E. Rection was a weird guy? Huh would have never guessed
Good lord, it's Theodore Seville, lol
How has this top 10 never been done until now?
Fabulous Moolah?
10:43 imagine if had like a 30 year anger towards him for whatever crap he did....to then find out there was atleast 1 person without question that gets to hate him more.
I wouldn’t piss off road warrior Animal. Ever.
Russo being 6???
Bucky Beaver 🦷
Bro, this was a great video, bro! Okay, bro, see ya next time, bro!
Throughout the Russo bit bro I kept adding a bro at the end of sentences bro😊
When is The Miz going to get another push?
Whenever your feeling down . A jim cornette rant on vince ruso will cheer you up.
Executive Writer/Producer for this list: Jim Cornette
I genuinely laughed out loud reading this comment 🤣
I think Enzo Amore deserves a dishonorable mention. The man was so obnoxious and loathed that Roman Reigns tossed him off a bus.
WWE may have a "new" owner and Paul being in charge ....
But like the old saying goes ...
"You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear."
The current regime of Wwe would be absolutely stupid to deviate from the 40 years of equity Vince built, and smartly they don't.
Good thing Stephanie's taking a break.
I have current hate/issues for whoever is controlling the freakin camera shots. The amount of fuckin awful cuts that happen right as a move is being delivered is insane. I cant even count how many finishers them camera ppl have fucked up due to changing the angle at the last moment.
Michael Hayes is the guy Booker T stood up to Vince about that Devon/Maven won’t mention
There's a good reason for saying, "don't bother me until AFTER my morning Russo."
Good riddance to Vince McMahon. I am thankful for him giving us a great wrestling product over the years even though a lot of his tactics were questionable at best, but he as a person I can't say nice things about. He should have retired ages ago, but these boomers don't know when to pass the torch unless they are forced out the door. And that's exactly what happened when WWE got bought out.
Kevin Dunn never liked wrestling, never liked wrestlers and never was a good producer. His daddy, Dennis, got him a job being a gopher for Vince Sr. and eventually a truck monkey for Vince Junior. Bucky thinks wrestling is a joke, but wishes he was a wrestler. He thinks both fans and wrestlers are stupid. He's the epitome of the nerd who hates athletes and people with personality because he is neither.
Ed Ferrera and Kevin Dunn.
There are no business guys worse than Russo, but those two are close
Vince being #1 is a no brainer. Dunn & Laurenitus being #3 & #2 respectively is hands down well deserved! But Russo not in the Top 5??? Russo should be #4 on this list.
I always thought laurnitis was super Dave when I was younger.
Kevin & Vince ruined WWE
"I hear Jim Cornette is a big fan [of Vince Russo] mind..."
For those of you not aware, Jim Cornette talking about Vince Russo being terrible is as much a running gag if not moreso than Bret Hart talking about Bill Goldberg sucking.
Bret hates Russo as well, every wrestling fan should.
Russo was hated for "Taking wrestling in the wrong direction with risque content"
So he got heat for making it good and reaching an audience older than 10?
Stephanie McMahon definitely surprised me, as I heard that there were many WWE superstars that actually liked her. She also discovered John Cena, which I guess cancels out some of the heat thrown at her.
Thank got the evil 3 are gone
Dean Malenko is a surprise. I just assumed him looking like a grumpy guts was his character.
Kevin Dunn did an amazing job at making WWE look like a million bucks.
You just know Kevin Dunn was bullied in high school and it went to his head
Michael Hayes might be responsible for the old tension between Punk and HHH back in the day. He always passed messages between the two and always exaggerated it and made it dramatic to spite Punk
Another list, maybe the 10 best backstage personalities next?
I wouldn’t doubt if it was Steph who ordered Mark Carrano to send Mickie James her belongings in a trash bag.
Laurenitis was like a behind the scenes virgil.
I don’t think topping this list with Vince McMahon is right. The opinions you hear about him seem to be very neutral…almost cut down the middle between good and bad with most people giving a little bit of both. That’s not usually what you hear about the Kevin Dunns or even the Bruce Prichards of the WWE. I don’t think I’ve heard a single nice word spoken about Kevin Dunn and people are much quicker to bemoan Bruce’s perceived ass kissing, etc. The thing about Vince is that he really, REALLY convinced the general public that he was a drooling maniac with his “Mr McMahon” gimmick and I think a lot of that stuff still resonates today. Of course, there are the allegations but nobody here has any insight on that, least of all, me. So while something like that is up in the air, fact-wise, you can’t really include it in something like this, in good faith. It could be completely true…it could be entirely fabricated…we’ve seen both of those scenarios play out over the years…none of us know.
There are few people who have more seeming hatred and disrespect for wrestling as an industry and art form than Vince Russo.
Vince McMahon pulled a Chris Benoit on himself
I cannot look at Kevin Dunn and not think of Jim Cornette 😂😂😂
You just know that somebody still has Michael Hayes' ponytail, somewhere.
