The Council of Trent issued an anathema to anyone who denied the Canon of Scripture they set forth, protestants deny this canon. Protestants are wrong, since the council of Rome which predates Protestantism by over 1000 years, the Church has regarded the books they reject as scripture. The doctrine of Magisterium gives the Catholic Church interpretation rights as well, which is why protestants have 33,000 denominations, they fumble with scripture to their own destruction.

That developed after Jewish and Christian split. During Christ’s time this was not the case. A generation after, all the books that were not originally written in Hebrew were discounted. So under Christ there was more scripture.
Luther also wanted to remove Revelations and Epistle of James. Some others with him told him to not do that. To my Protestant family, can you imagine Revelations being out of the Bible. I could remove books and add a word that coincided with my ideology of the Christian faith. Would you then accept that because you did not agree with Truth from the first and only Bible from the beginning of Christianity? As Pilate asked Jesus “What is Truth?” If you go to the Bible to find out, do you realize you do not have the Truth in Protestant Bibles? Could you change the Bible you have now and have it accepted by other Protestants? Truth seems simple, but must discern just as the Apostles did. Seemed much easier then because they personally knew Jesus. But they spoke to many who did not know Jesus. Why has the Truth of the Hebrew Bible that Jesus knew, not good enough for Christians after 1500 years? I sure don’t know nor could explain. Even I am like the Eunuch who needed an apostle to explain the Words of the Hebrew Bible so he could understand and accept Jesus as the Messiah spoken of in prophecies. Would love to have been with the two men on the road to Emmaus when Jesus, The Messiah, explained how and why the prophecies were fulfilled. Then they recognized Him in the breaking of the Bread, what we call the Holy Eucharist. Fantastic experience - another one!
I never knew there was a difference which clearly shows my ignorance. However, I have heard of the Book of Enoch; do you know why this book isn't included in the Bible?
@@MHester-m3f Luther changed his opinion on those books MULTIPLE TIMES, so you cannot definitively say that. Also, it could definitely be possible that the Catholic 7 ‘Middle Testament’ books, were added after John wrote not to add or to take away from the Word of God. Amen to unity, Christians should not argue over whose wrong and whose right. And focus on helping people who gave up on the the whole belief in following Jesus. We must also follow the same true Christ and hold to the same true Gospel. Not by works but by faith alone through grace alone in Christ alone. Not Mary, not the saints, not the Pope. Bible teaching over church teaching.
@morant3057 The authority if the Bible is expressed throughout the Bible where the laws of God are given to the Isralites to follow, where the key to salvation is given later and how a church should be run is revealed after that. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (LEB): All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, in order that the person of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. The Bible is the Word of God. What is more authoritative than the Word of God? Look at the pope, would you trust his authority? He's not even a Christian? Travesties like infant baptism and the sinner's prayer were done under man's authority, ignoring the Bible and have sent many to hell. Infant baptism interferes with being born again because people think they are part of God's church and God's people afterwards. Just like the sinner's prayer, it gives false assurance to those who are not saved.
I’m very happy with the way he introduced the video, our protestant neighbor. As an independant church believer, gotta agree that many of our own look down on the Catholic brethren. However I guess the way of salvation in both the denominations would be the same. The death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Love to you all ❤
The Catholic Church thinks they are the keys to salvation, but I tell you, Christ is. The Catholic Church worships Mary and the saints and relics and bones without regret. That is immoral. The Catholic Church removed part of the Ten Commandments. The Catholic Church is a control freak. The Catholic Church is supporting gay marriage and allowing their church to get slowly merged with global religions.
What about the 10 commandments, the seven sacraments, confession, purgatory, limbo, and the eucharist? Catholics teachings on salvation contradict the teachings of Jesus on salvation. Only one is true. I believe Jesus
As a Catholic who wants to learn and understand the Bible better I'm looking for resources or groups where studying and learning the Bible would make it a more wholesome experience. To my surprise, there are 5 Catholic churches where I live within a 4 mile radius. I checked with all of them and none had any Bible study groups or classes. A few weeks later one of the churches called me back and said they would have a Bible workshop. I said great, can you tell me more about it. The lady then said that a guest bishop from south America would give talks about the Bible for 2 weekends. Problem is he's giving a talk, that's not a class or study group. For the heck of it, I checked with a Protestant church 3 miles from my house and they said they do have a Bible study/class that goes year round 3 times a week. That really blew me away. The Catholic church is the largest in the world. Have the most amount of money and resources yet they put so little effort in teaching their followers about the Bible. Actually no effort was put in by them at all. Anyways I read the Bible myself and within a few months I never felt more complete and closer to God. The Catholic church has value to Christianity and the community. But I don't feel its essential, just like any other church. What IS essential is for one to seek God thru Jesus and read the gospel. That in itself is sufficient for salvation.
@@Mr-Clark That's not the catholic way. What about the sacraments, the ten commandments, confession, purgatory, limbo and the eucharist? Another proud and true, loyal and deceived catholic liar. Jesus loves you and Jesus died for your sins, too
I was raised Catholic and became a believer and follower of Jesus Christ our Savior at the age of 23. I soon discovered the small differences in the Catholic and Protestant Bible referred to in the abode message. In Romans 3 it tells us that God gave the Jews the Oracles of God (the Old Testament). It was not given to the Catholics or the Protestants. I then searched out several Jewish Bibles and they all had the same Bible text as that used by the Protestants. God's Word told me which Bible to use. But remember, it is not the Bible that died for us, it is Jesus our Lord, all Glory goes to Him.
The early Church Fathers, including the Jews that founded Christianity, used the Greek Septuagint with the Deuterocanonical books. For 1500 years, that was the Christian canon of the Old Testament. Rabbinical Judaism set its canon partially in response to Christianity. I'm not sure why anyone would look to the decisions of the group that rejected Jesus to tell them what the correct canon of sacred books for Christians was. Christians and Jews believe very different things.
Perhaps you should go look at the Koine Greek texts. There was no word for "jew" at the time of writing of the New Testament. You're going to find in most cases the word used was for a Judean. Judaism wasn't even founded as the religion it is right now, until AFTER Christianity had formed. You had the Torah (which you know as the Old Testament), the Oral Torah (which goes by another name that RUclips will censor me for even saying, because it does not speak very nicely about Christ or people that are not jewish) and jewish mysticisim (again I can't say the name of it, because of censorship, but Madonna and Demi Moore both are followers of this).

It does make a difference. If you’re Catholic, you should have a Bible that is approved by the Catholic Church. There are of course several in the English language. Nowadays what makes a Bible “Catholic” is that it includes all 73 books of Sacred Scripture. Most Protestant translations nowadays only have 39 books in the Old Testament, while Catholic translations have 46. Both Protestants and Catholics have all 27 books of the New Testament. The books that are often called deuterocanonical or “apocryphal” by Protestants and Jews are as follows: Sirach, Wisdom, Tobit, Judith, Baruch, and 1 & 2 Maccabees. These were written not long before Jesus was born in the Second Temple period. There are also additions to Esther and Daniel not found in Protestant translations that are included in Catholic ones. Beyond that, Protestant and Catholic Bibles are mostly identical.

All the passages about the ten commandments are the exact same in the Catholic Bible. Through the years there have been several different ways of dividing things into ten, since there are more than 10 "thou shalt/thou shalt not" statements. The Catholic division is how Augustine and many Church fathers divided the commandments. The "do not make graven images" part is included under "thou shalt have no other gods beside me." Also, I think @PD-yd3fr doesn't understand the meaning of "graven image." A graven image is specifically something that is worshipped as God or in place of God. NKJV is a Protestant bible. To be clear the Protestants didn’t remove books. The Catholic Church added the 7 books as an official part of cannon during the council or Trent as a response to the reformation.
@@WestwardeastProtestants are taught this falsehood, but you are wrong historically. Those 7 books were canonized by the CC in the late 4th century BEFORE the Jews had even agreed on a closed canon for the OT. All the Council of Trent did in the 16th century was to reaffirm dogmatically what numerous Catholic councils had declared previously...WITHOUT CHANGE from the 4th century....what the approved canon was. Previously, the ecumenical Council of Florence in 1440 reaffirmed the 73 book canon....Trent made it dogma because the "Reformers" had no authority to even suggest removal (it finally happened in the 19th century).. Protestants REMOVED those seven books...with NO AUTHORITY TO DO SO...biblically, historically, or any other way. Time for you to accept the truth rather than falsehoods.
@@Westwardeastso funny, every church that predates the protestant reformation has those 7 books but according to you people "nah, theh just added them to spite the protestants".
@@Westwardeast I believe the development of the Canon was which books would be included in the New Testament -- the old Testament was taken from the first Greek translation of the Hebrew septugint . As the priest said in the video, the 7 Old Testiment books were removed during the reformation, initially by Martin Luther. Luther also wanted to remove James, Revelation and others, but got push-back. So, to be clear, the video is correct.
Jesus said to Thomas in John 14:6 “I’m the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by Me”. Not my mother Mary or Saint so and so, ME. Christ alone, Scripture alone, Faith alone, Grace alone. Any prayer offered other than to Jesus himself, simply bounces off the ceiling and comes back to you. That’s why I left the Catholic Church. If it’s Jesus plus works is, what it takes to get to heaven then we’d all fail. It’s Christ and Christ alone. “Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow”.
cherry picking the bible is literally the most protestant thing you can do....... Or more specifically cherry-picking the bible you wrote yourselves.... to prove your own points.... protestants always claim they left the Catholic church five minutes ago before deliberately presenting a pack of lies about what Catholicism is.... well assuming you were ever a Catholic it sure wasn't a good memory or ability to retain information that cause you to leave apparently.... For the 5,000,000,000,000,000 billionth time we don't pray to the Virgin Mary or the Saints. We ask them to intercede for us with Jesus because as Catholics we believe that we are part of a community of souls both on earth and also in heaven and purgatory. We both give and receive help from other souls. By definition the souls in Heaven are all saints. Why? Because we further believe that community prayer is more powerful than individual prayer... We also pray directly to God the Father and to Jesus. protestants by definition just care personal salvation and don't give a toss about any others. Its all Me Me Me. Starting with queue jumping. as Catholics we are a community of souls that are intricately connected to each other and to God. And we succeed only as a community.
So the Protestants removed from the Bible. Doesn’t Revelation say not to do that? Do those seven books contain anything significant that changes things dramatically or is it all minor differences? This is kind of a big deal I should think.
Well, think on this the Bible is a library of books and that warning is for Revelation alone. All the Old Testament books were kept in the Temple, the seven mentioned were not as the Jews did not consider them divinely inspired.
@@davestrongman9519 Revelation is a prophecy, if anybody adds or takes from the book/prophecy. Do you think the Bible was always all together, do you think John had a complete Bible on Patmos and then added it to the end? Read Revelation in context.
Then why have the Catholics changed the ten commandments to suit their worship of Mary and "the saints" and all the statues they have in their churches?

And the Church changed the 2nd Commandment to "Don't use the Lord's name in vain" once they decided the church's priority was worshipping idols and saints.
@@johnnysupreme5718 since when is bowing to someone worship? You ought to tell the Japanese that where that is their form of handshake additionally, when is praying to someone a form of worship? The word pray simply means to ask. When I ask my wife to do something, I am praying to her in the sense of the word if you look back to the original languages, the New Testament was written in the word pray is used in the same context as to ask. Prayer is not and has never been a form of worship. I pray to the Saints, but most importantly to the living God, I asked the Saints to pray for me to God just as I ask my wife and family and friends to pray for me. Protestants could have the right numbering of the 10 Commandments or Catholics could. Exodus 20 is not specific with numbering. There are about 20 thou shalt not statements in that chapter. We know there are 10 commandments, but how do we number 10 Commandments from 20 Commandments? The Catholic church along with many historical Jewish renderings of the 10 Commandments have grouped like commandments together. The Catholic Church 100% professors, as to why you shall not worship idols, that is a commandment. But, it is grouped in the first commandment, because it is the same thought as the first commandment and fits well with it. If a Catholic worships an idol, then he commits a grave sin.

The books of the Apocrypha abound in doctrinal, ethical, and historical errors. For instance, Tobit claims to have been alive when Jeroboam revolted (931 B.C.) and when Assyria conquered Israel (722 B.C.), despite the fact that his lifespan was only a total of 117 years (Tobit 1:3-5; 14:11)! Judith mistakenly identifies Nebuchadnezzar as king of the Assyrians (1:1, 7).
The theological errors are equally significant: Tobit endorses the superstitious use of fish liver to ward off demons (6: 6-8)! And it teaches salvation by the good work of almsgiving (12:9) Wisdom of Solomon teaches the creation of the world from pre-existent matter (11:17).. which is really a Mormon doctrine. IIMaccabees teaches prayers for the dead (12:44-45) --quite contrary to inspired Scripture (such as John1:3; II Samuel 12:19; Hebrews 9:27; Romans 4:5; Galatians 3:11). These are some of the reasons why the Apocrypha - part of the Catholic Bible - do not belong in the true, inspired Word of God.

It's more than that: ALL the ancient Churches, Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Orthodox use the entire Bible. It was Martin Luther who removed the Deuterocanonical Books from the Old Testament. Even the Original King James Bible included all the books of the Old Testament. The present KJV came out in 1788 and removed the Deuterocanonical books.
Dr. Luther did not remove the 7 books - he reclassified them in the Apocrypha which still is published in German Bibles. I have Bibles from my grandparents that include those 7 books after the Old Testament.
@johnmarquardt1991 Martin Luther also removed the Book of James from the New Testament because he objected to St. James' verse, "Faith without works is dead." If you search you can find scans of German Bibles without the Deuterocanonical books and without the Epistle of St. James.

Also, I 100% believe that Jesus looks like the painting by Akiane Kramarik did when she was just 8 years old. It’s been confirmed by so many that went to heaven from a surgery or coma or some reason they died called NDE’s or Near Death Experience and each one has said when they were in heaven, that’s what he looked like. For me, I was not walking on the same or righteous path for many years and when we walked, he and I spoke about how he’s always near me and would not ever leave me. He was right behind my right side and when I ran ahead and seeing if he would be there, I stopped, turned around and there he was. He never left me. It changed me in a profound way and it got me back on the right path. Even family and friends say they could see a complete change in how I am after that. Here’s one thing from my Covid experience: I had been given a high chance of not making it through the night in the ER by the doc. During of which I was in the hospital for 3 days and on that 3rd day, I woke up with the Covid doctor and team doing all the tests they could like chest X-ray, blood labs, renal output etc, and on that 3rd day the Covid doctor I had came in and said she was here when I came in and saw how bad I was and she could not find anything in my body that would show I ever even had Covid. It was as if it was erased from my body. Most patients, she said, stay at least a couple weeks or more as bad as I was. She discharged me that afternoon. “3 DAYS”! Almost like it took 3 days for Jesus to die and come to life. It baffles me why he would do that for me and the doctor said she had no medical answer other than it had to be of God. I think that too. That’s my story and I feel I’m not looking for anyone to believe it so I now go on in my life knowing I was given a miracle. I weep when I was given that when there are others out there that are worst off than I or far more deserving then me that they should have gotten that miracle. So I always ask… Why me? All NDE’s I hear about seem to have a commonality. That they believe in the lord and that he’s not just some fictional person in a book of stories. It makes it more believable when I read scriptures that I know what he looks like. I sometimes feel like I let him down but I read a daily devotion the other day that said we could never let him down and he has more grace than we know.

Actually there is a bit more nuance. The official Protestant stance is that those books are a part of the Bible and can be used for preaching. However, they cannot be used to established doctrine. Because of their somewhat secondary status, publishers realized they could save money by not including those books in their Bibles and so over time the bible used by Protestants took on its current form. The other point I would make with your explanation is that your argument for including these books in the Canon would be the same argument to also include all the books that have been in Ethiopian Bible.
The most egregious change in the catholic canon is the removal of God's hand written 2nd commandment condemning the making or praying to graven images.
The Catholic Scriptures contain the verses in Exodous and Deuteronomy that condemn the making and praying to graven images. The Exodous version was read at Sunday Mass this last March. Please do some thorough and honest research on the subject.
You were read the altered catholic church version. The 5 books of Moses were given directly to Moses. The 10 Commandments and written in stone by the hand of God. Moses gave them to the Hebrews with him in the desert. I have seen the catholic church rewriting of God's 10 Commandments and been taught the correct 10 Commandments by a rabbi from the Tanach. The catholic church version has been changed significantly by the catholic church. God will judge from His version.
The Tanach contains the Hebrew bible and His second Commamandment condems the creation of graven images. No Jewish synogogue has one. The catholic churches are full of such images.

Yes we can pray to intercede on behalf of each other who are alive as Paul instructed us, but there is one Intercessor between Mankind and God and that is Jesus Christ our only High Priest. That will never change according to Scripture. ( Hebrews 7:25 and Hebrews 4: 14-16)
@Joseph-Haddad My friend, Hebrews 12:23 doesn’t imply or even allude to Jesus giving His authority to Intercede to anyone else. Sorry but you’ve been Mislead. It just means we here on Earth are not alone to live out our Struggles to preach and live out the life Christ wants us to live.
@Joseph-Haddad Sorry my bad. Spell check? I meant Jesus never gave anyone who may be in Heaven the Authority to Intercede for anyone. Not according to this scripture.
Second Timothy 2:11-13 When we are resurrected we will sit in Judgment of Angels and With Christ, we will Rule over creation. We will share what He has. Even now, As Christ reigns over our lives, we too can have reign over Sin in our own Lives and in other aspects we can Share the Gospel as Jesus did.
First, thank you for "our Protestant brothers and sisters" rather than "those heretics who are going to burn in hell." As a Lutheran, we haven't removed these books from the Bibles that we commonly use, but rather placed them in a separate category called the Apocrypha. We regard them as useful writings, but not authoritative enough for the basis of any doctrines. Also, Lutherans, Anglicans, and Roman Catholics all use the same common lectionary which specifies the Bible readings for each Sunday.
The bibles maybe slightly different but the administration of practice is worlds apart. What's the differences between Roman Catholicism & Eastern Orthodox?
Luther initially excluded 6 books from the Catholic Bible of 73 books, leaving 66 books. Would God really want His Book to contain 66 books - the number of imperfection, of man and one 6 shy of the # of the Beast? That's not Holy.
He ought to offer some evidence of a probable inspired authority of the deuteron-canonical apocrypha - those seven books (and parts of two others). He could have compared Tbt 12: 15 with Rev 8: 2 and Lk 1: 29 and note that what the angel says could not have been based on any part of the standard Hebrew Bible. Rather, it corroborates Bible text that had not yet been written. Likewise, he would have done well to compare Wis: all; 3: 1-12 with various parts of the four gospel accounts. Here again, nothing that is stated in this section could have been based on the preceding Hebrew text. Yet, it matches what would be written over a century later.
Take the old testament that Ezra gave you and the new testament that John canonized and simply receive those 49 books that have been divided into 66 books today by Jerome.
Actually the Protestants went back to the Hebrew Bible for the Old Testament and that is why the additional 7 books that the Roman Catholic Bible has have not been included.
Thank you for providing captioning on the video, but now please check the punctuation between fifty and sixty seconds where you say "As Catholics" and the punctuation doesn't indicate that that's the beginning of a new sentence.
The Protestant Bible has less books because they contradicted Luther and the Protestant doctrine, specially the books of Maccabees. So, instead of recognizing their wrong, they removed the books. Much like Protestants still do today, they pick and choose specific and isolated Bible verses, specially the ones that corroborate with what they want to believe. They want god to bend to their doctrine, not the other way around.
I find it hard to believe that the Apocrypha is the main difference between the two. For starters, the original manuscripts are gone (withered away?....lost?...burned?.......2000 years is a long time). Since there were no Copy machines back then, a new church had a person (scribe) do the "copying" by hand from another church. At the same time, the "copying" involved understanding the intention of the original author and the scribe determining how the members of the new church were to make sense of it. That is, even though they maybe spoke the same language, the region used certain words that did not have the exact same meaning so the scribes, most likely, used their "local" words. As I understand it, those who came up with the King James Version used manuscript "copies" that had been made 4 centuries before. Were these "copies" the same ones that were used for the Catholic English version? If you place Bible verses side-by-side (Catholic verse on one side and KJB on the other), do they use the same exact words?
No, there are many omissions in newer versions of the Bible. Unfortunately the catholic church doesn’t have real biblical study which we are commanded to do. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” And consider - 1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 1 Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” 1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. Mark 7:7. “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Hello, I just want to point out that we catholics do study the Bible. Actually, discussion is one of the main activities we do during cathecism, vigiles, when we gather to pray the rosary and some even like to discuss it one on one with the priest during confession. If you approah a priest, I have yet to find one that doesn't welcome questions and different perspectives on the Bible. I know there is that myth that catholics do not analyse or discuss the Bible but at least that is not my experience. I mean, the fact the conciles even exist is prove that the Bible is discussed. You may say that only the highest ranked priest attend conciles and such, and that is true, but that doesn't mean the rest of the Church is not present. We are in the sense that outside we keep discussing and our concerns are brought through the bishops, archbishops and cardinals, etc. But that is just for topics and situations that need a definitive solution. Discussion happens in all levels of the hierarchy and is pretty much horizontal most of the time. Only those things that are pressing get a definitive solution and those are meant to keep the Church united. There is a good balance (in my opinion) between horizontality and verticality in the Church structure. I hope this helps. Sorry if the writing is not perfect. English is not my first language, but I tried my best. I know at times when writing my tone can seem a bit cold. Sorry for that. I love reading protestant perspectives, even if I do not agree all the time and obviuosly not in every topic. Thank you very much. *Note: by Church I mean the entirety of catholics, not the ordained priests only (or the buildings, for that matter).@@gregoryt8792
When Sunday Christianity finally finds out, (or admits) the commandments are not the law of Moses, a remnant will arise, to sainthood by keeping the commandments of God. Rev. 14:12, 22:14. Note to catholicism: This is at the very end of the Bible you canonized, bless your mortal hearts.
I have seen this incorrect claim all over the comments sections of several sites. Where did you get this info? Did you think to fact-check this claim by reading a Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church?
@@teresaemmerth5625 "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain." Is this not the 2nd commandment for Catholicism? And it makes perfect sense that they would change this because the original version would make them idol worshippers.
@@johnnysupreme5718 Yes the traditional abbreviated Catholic Ten Commandments list (and the Lutheran list too, I believe) has the do not take the Lord's name in vain as the Second Commandment. However this does not mean that any scripture was removed or that the Commandments have been changed. There are two different abbreviated lists commonly in use. If you would do honest research you would understand this. I suggested that psocques read a Catholic Bible and the section on the Commandments in The Catechism of the Catholic Church and I suggest the same to you. The Scripture verses can be found in Deuteronomy and Exodous and the Ten Commandment section in the Catechism is in Part Three. It is an easy Google search.

As I understood, Martin Luther deleted these seven books because he was unable to find the sources in Hebrew. These sources however have later been found, but the protestant canon was not adapted.
Opinions are the differences . When a book of fiction is written by men to control other men there will always be differences . That is why all the world's 4000 plus religions all say the other religions are going to Hell .
This priest left the question unclear! Did not even mention what the books are that are missing? Is Ezkeial in the catholic bible? Because it talks a lot about how God hates statues.
The Catholic bible is much, much better than the Protestant bible. I've used Charmin, Scott's tissue, and the Mormon bible, they don't compare. When I use the Catholic bible I feel relaxed, clean and comfortable.
God bless all followers of 1 God Creator (Yahweh) and Jesus Christ ( Yeshua ) our Savior. As brothers and sisters and Sons and Daughters of The Great Creator we must stand together. This is something we must do in these times of the most uncertain future.
Understand too that Martin Luther was quite anti-semitic so his exclusion of a number of Jewish books from the OT was not surprising. One of his problems with the Church was that he believed that they were not trying hard enough to convert the Jews. If there was any doubt that his protestations against the Jewish people was nothing more than 'banter' (for lack of a better word), then the release of his book "The Jews and Their Lies' in 1543 certainly put a stop to that.
I Timothy 4:1-3 NKJV [1] Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, [2] speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, [3] forbidding to marry,..." Roman Catholic forbids priests to marry. Ok. SO, where are catholic Bible's? Which version is on display for sale? I want to see the 7 books, that are REMOVED from every version of the Bible I've ever seen.
So glad to be in the Church of Christ through his apostle Peter. Strayed for a time in offsets of Henry the 8th's version of the Church. So true protestants dont understand the Catholic traditions that go back to the time just after Pentacost. Stained glass and sculptures they call idols were the bible in pictures as many early christians could not read. Art was to glorify the holy trinity. And our view of Mary is she was the most perfect human (as Jesus was God - part of the trinity and not a mere human like Mary) And yes we do believe you can pray for the dead. We dont feel a disconnect with the other side. And Jesus is everything and the entire reason for the Catholic Church - the resurrection.
@JohanJonker-ch3vd Henry the 8th did on divorce for sure. Many of my protestant friends seem to follow old testament vs the new oddly. Most protestants have totally erroneous ideas about the Catholic Church that have been taught to them for about 500 years. The Bible comes from the Catholic Church.
Who put together the first Bible? We can say with some certainty that the first widespread edition of the Bible was assembled by St. Jerome around A.D. 400. This manuscript included all 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament in the same language: Latin
Eventually, Christian church leaders worldwide gathered to answer major questions, including which books should be regarded as "Scripture." These gatherings included the Council of Nicea in A.D. 325 and the First Council of Constantinople in A.D. 381, which decided a book should be included in the Bible if it was
The main problem of the Bible today is what was left out, including the Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of the Nezarenes, Gospel of Magdalene, etc, as recovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi LIbrary. Be open minded and read them and Christianity makes much more sense and more complete.
The older I get, the more I like the Wisdom of Siarach, the son of Jesus, or Ecclesiasticus 38, where you are asked to pray for your physician and that your physician prays also to find a cure for your medical problem. Also, every attorney has to read the story of Susannah and Bell and the Dragon, which are parts of Daniel left out of the protestant old testament. There are theological and time problems with much of the Apocraphya. As article 6 of the 39 articles says, "And the other Books (as Hierome saith) the Church doth read for example of life and instruction of manners; but yet doth it not apply them to establish any doctrine;"
To clear up confusion about the what church is established, guided, and directed by the Lord himself one only needs to look at the church he began when Jesus Christ lived on the earth. He has said "One Faith, One Lord, One Baptism" Not 10,20, etc different churches and different beliefs. When Jesus was on the earth he established a church with Specific callings (Apostles - Prophets, Seventy, Elders, Bishops, Patriarchs, Deacons, Teachers, Priests), he also has the Priesthood Authority given from Jesus to his Apostles and others in the Church, He had Revelation or Communication between God and man for the directly of the Church as a whole, and finally it was his church or "The Church of Jesus Christ" versus someone elses church whether Lutheran, Catholic, St Peter, Methodist, etc. That Church fell away over a short time after the Apostles were killed and the church that he established was no longer on the earth. We had the Catholic church begain at the Council of Nicea and other Prostantant churches form in the 1700's. What was needed was a complete Restoral or Restoration of Christs original church and all its tenants. That Church was restored back to the earth in the early 1800's by Christ himself and Prophets and known today again as "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has that Priesthood power restored (See church History of restoration of the Priesthood), Same callings and positions in the Church ((Apostles - Prophets, Seventy, Elders, Bishops, Patriarchs, Deacons, Teachers, Priests), and Living Prophets today on the earth that receive Revelation or Communication from God for the direction of his church. Furthermore, the Lord has give us additional scripture to draw us closer to Jesus Christ per the Book of Mormon, D&C and Pearl of Great Price. You dont' have to take my word for it but one can reach the Book of Mormon, Learn about his church and pray to God for answer and confirmation if one is earnest. Again, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his Kingdom once again restored back to the earth preparatory to his second coming.
Man, that's a whole lotta lies, Jesus established the catholic church. Said church was not lost or repressed for years as that would mean almost 1800 years of people failed to follow Christ's real church. So Jesus who founded his church did it wrong as it would take one of his own actions failing in order to say this making it so all those people had it wrong and a couple of random people out of nowhere in the 1800s got it right? Really, that's so hard to believe it's outrageous. That belief system requires arguing that Jesus made a mistake or that God failed to keep his church around through his people. Clearly that's insane, God doesn't make mistakes or fail. Not only that but Good is the only one who could get things right, not youre people. God is perfect, we aren't.
So you believe that no one was able to be saved after the apostles died until the 1800s? I don’t see a loving God damning the souls of billions of people for almost 2000 years because they didn’t have the option to find the truth
So whether the bible is 66 books or 73 really does not matter if you choose to not read it. None of my roman Catholic in-laws have any idea of what the bible says about salvation or what the gospel is? They tell me to talk to a priest instead of answering by themselves.
Luther argued that several of the New Testament had it wrong and wanted them dropped, including Hebrews, James, Jude, and the Book of Revelation. It's in James where we read that both faith and works are necessary for "salvation".
... and yet none were removed including the 7 extra books in the RC Bible. In Lutherism those 7 books are called the Apocrypha and are still available but not seen as the inspired word of God.
@@apotropoxyz6685 No it wouldn't. Why do you mock God and His Word? We are saved by Grace through faith, not of works. But Jesus loves you and Jesus died for your sins, too.
The Reformed Faith believes in the imputation of the active obedience of Christ through Faith Alone,in Christ Alone. We are JUSTIFIED by Faith Alone,we are not JUSTIFIED by obedience . We believe Regeneration precedes Faith.
Faith alone is BS... Martin Luther removed 7 books from the Bible and added the word " faith" after the word " alone " in the Bible on his own authority Who died and made him God? I bet all you protestants DIDN'T KNOW THAT.... because yall don't know church history.
Thank you for such a simple explanation without saying one is right and the other is wrong like some do
The Council of Trent issued an anathema to anyone who denied the Canon of Scripture they set forth, protestants deny this canon.
Both cant be right. I have one saying:

That developed after Jewish and Christian split. During Christ’s time this was not the case. A generation after, all the books that were not originally written in Hebrew were discounted. So under Christ there was more scripture.
@@CrankyGrandma * What about the Septuagint?
Those seven books that were not present in the Protestant version are 1 and 2 Maccabees, Tobit, Judith, Sirach, Wisdom and Baruch.
It’s a separate section known as the Apocrypha. It’s recognized in the Anglican tradition as well but as shadow historical references.
I never knew there was a difference which clearly shows my ignorance. However, I have heard of the Book of Enoch; do you know why this book isn't included in the Bible?
@@MHester-m3fHow do you know the “Greek thought” that was removed was not ideologically driven/written?
@@MHester-m3f Luther changed his opinion on those books MULTIPLE TIMES, so you cannot definitively say that. Also, it could definitely be possible that the Catholic 7 ‘Middle Testament’ books, were added after John wrote not to add or to take away from the Word of God. In time's such as now. All followers of Christ must unite.
Amen to unity, Christians should not argue over whose wrong and whose right. And focus on helping people who gave up on the the whole belief in following Jesus. They give up on the whole thing probably because the only knowledge the parents that are raising new generations is bickering and trying to prove each other wrong.

Isn’t there a warning of removing scripture from the Bible ?
All Protestants must condemn or look down on the Catholic Church in order to justify their very existence.
The Catholic Church thinks they are the keys to salvation, but I tell you, Christ is. The Catholic Church worships Mary and the saints and relics and bones without regret. That is immoral.

Perhaps, it is the destination that really matters and not the route. Even google maps provides alternative routes to the same destination.

So for the translation question, it doesn’t matter which translation you pick up when it comes to Protestant and Catholic??

As in NKJV is Protestant right ?
I’m English and I’m trying to find out which bible to purchase I’m just a little confused. I’m new to this and was thinking of getting both and reading both simultaneously

NKJV is a Protestant bible. To be clear the Protestants didn’t remove books. The Catholic Church added the 7 books as an official part of cannon during the council or Trent as a response to the reformation.
Unabridged or abridged………your choice. May God give you Wisdom.
Do any of those seven books contain a version of the Ten Commandments that changes the second commandment?
Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
cherry picking the bible is literally the most protestant thing you can do.......

The Roman Catholic Church took out the 2nd commandment. The protestants took out books that were never canon.

The church changed the 10 commandments?
And we worship Mary and statues?

The theological errors are equally significant:
Tobit endorses the superstitious use of fish liver to ward off demons (6: 6-8)! And it teaches salvation by the good work of almsgiving (12:9)
Wisdom of Solomon teaches the creation of the world from pre-existent matter (11:17).. which is really a Mormon doctrine.
You forgot to mention that the catholics clearly state that "There is no salvation outside of the Catholic church"

Watch the movie “Heaven is real” and it will get you started on little Colton Burpo is his name and when he was in heaven, that’s who he spoke to and he confirmed his looks when his dad, a pastor, was flipping through pictures and when he came past the pic of the painting Akiane did, he said that’s what he looks like.

Because of their somewhat secondary status, publishers realized they could save money by not including those books in their Bibles and so over time the bible used by Protestants took on its current form. Who ever taught you that Past saints intercede for us who remain on Earth, did so out of Ignorance of Scripture or by design, but it is just not true.
That whole chapter is about how we should conduct ourselves as Saved individuals knowing that We have an avenue to Heave in Jesus Christ, even the Lord God Himself, that those in the past did not Have as when God appeared in Fire and Smoke on a Mountain in the Old Testament, and people could not approach or touch That Mountain without fear of Death!
Knowing now that we are in the Presents of Heavenly wittinesses from Past Saints to Angels and even God Himself, even though we are still on Earth, we should conduct ourselves accordingly.
But it says nothing about Jesus Sharing his authority to intercede between Man and GOD with ANYONE else. This is not the only Scripture that the RCC has misrepresented to try to make them fit their narrative.

So which books are missing!!!!!
What religion were Adam and Eve?
Aren’t the 10 commandments different as well?

2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
And consider -
1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
1 Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
Mark 7:7. “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Note to catholicism:
This is at the very end of the Bible you canonized, bless your mortal hearts.
Don’t forget the catholic 10 commandments. One removed, one commandment split into two
I have seen this incorrect claim all over the comments sections of several sites. Where did you get this info? Did you think to fact-check this claim by reading a Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church?
@@teresaemmerth5625 "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain."
Is this not the 2nd commandment for Catholicism?

The protestant bible does not have the verses/stories of taking holy eucharist
So spin, spin, spin however you choose to spin, and have a great day!!
I’m telling you do not contact and do not consult with dead people other than our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only one way to our Father God in Heaven.
As I understood, Martin Luther deleted these seven books because he was unable to find the sources in Hebrew. These sources however have later been found, but the protestant canon was not adapted.
I have no idea what Bible to use
Confessional (Conservative) Lutherans use the Apocrypha but don't give it the weight of Canon.
Ezkeial is not in ANY Bible, but Ezekiel is in all Bibles, both Catholic and Protestant.
Very interesting, could you please give us your views on the New World Translation Bible.
Those books weren’t accepted by Jewish historians
I Timothy 4:1-3 NKJV
[1] Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, [2] speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, [3] forbidding to marry,..."
Roman Catholic forbids priests to marry.
Paul's says on I John 2:19 NKJV
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
Protestants did not have the authority to remove the 7 books
Does anyone know how many Gods there are ?? How many religions there are ?? How do I know which one to choose ?? Or is it just a symptom of mental illness ??
Ask, seek, and knock; the door will be opened
Google Tim Minchin's 'Thank you God' and listen to the end of it. I think you'll find he agrees with you !
i would say every believer should devour the word, pray nonstop, and teach others... the church is you dear believer!!! dont get caught up in religion etc... focus on the fact that only because of the blood of Jesus, you can now have a relationship with God like you were mean to!!!! what are you going to do with that dear believer!!!???? can you waste any time focusing on anything else?!!!! if you really believed that!? 1tim 4:13
and also i would say the "greek though"stuff is not all the differences.. the catholics continue to try to call themselves "the church of god" insinuating they are the true church meanwhile adding things that are not in the bible and stray from jewish origins... they literally replace phrases like "church or "body of Christ" or "believers" to "catholic"... so instead of saying "believers" some will say "catholics" and instead of saying "the church" they put "the catholic church"... :) they are trying to slap their brand on "Christian"or "Christ follower"while many of the congregations dont even know that Jesus was the word of God made flesh and is the High Preist and Husband of the entire bride of Christ aka his sheep who hear his voice... dont be manipulated by religion... take responsibility for your own relationship with God.
Protestant faith printed the Bible in English so it could be read by anybody in English. .
Ok. SO, where are catholic Bible's? Which version is on display for sale? I want to see the 7 books, that are REMOVED from every version of the Bible I've ever seen.
Ask at a Christian book store.
Catholic book stores sell them.

You put Church teaching over Biblical teaching, That's the problem. The Gospel in the Catholic Church is corrupted and no longer a saving Gospel.
@donnacantrell8093 No, the Roman Catholic Church took the existing Bible, altered it, and overwrote Biblical law with church law.

381, which decided a book should be included in the Bible if it was
Don't forget the difference in the 10 Commandments. The catholics dropped the he ban on idolatry.
I really don’t think the differences are in the Bible so much as in the way it is read, interpreted, translated, and retranslated.
With out honest compassion, humanity will never find any truth. Jesus never needed a Bible, for Jesus had compassion to spare.
I Got New Testament Bible and The Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition
