Travel Pilot - First Flight Airport & Wright Bros National Memorial

KFFA, First Flight Airport, in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina is an easy flight from anywhere in the Mid Atlantic. It is a well maintained 3000' x 60' asphalt runway, oriented as RWY 3/21. There's lots of ramp space with tie downs, and a pilot facility donated by AOPA. The Wright Brothers National Memorial sits nearby atop Big Kill Devil Hill. Paved walking trails take visitors up to the top, where vistas of the surrounding Outer Banks show why this site was chosen for the early flight experiments. There are picnic tables, a playground, and restrooms. There is no airplane fuel on site. AOPA's Sierra Harrop stopped in on her way to Sun 'n Fun 2022 and brings us along.

KFFA Pilot lounge is awesome, but could we have bathroom access after hours like lounge does? Seems like an easy thing with keypad.
