I remember back when you were van living with your ex, then solo van life, then the motorcycle tour with your sweet old pup, applying to Sailing La Vagabonde, and to see you evolve as a person and fixing up this boat has been so inspiring! You and Mel make the best couple.
Remember when you first started and you had no windows, no doors, you slept in the sleeping bag, trying to keep warm? You’ve come really really far. You should be proud of yourself.
So all along your cooking has been a part of the show even though we have never met I feel like your part of my crew ,a day in your life and Milly’s visits ,the boat it’s all what we love keep up the work your a star bro
I was just thinking about how interesting your food cooking snippets were. They dont require a lot of talk, but are very compelling (and useful!!). It would be nice to see these become more extended and/or frequent.
Yes! Love how the doors turned out. Not so easy building from scratch. Really adds to the more finished appearance. NICE JOB!! Good to see you guys. 😊👍
That was a great job on you very first doors, keep it up. It is always amazing when you look back at what you did and how much you learn from everything.
One becomes a fine woodworker by taking on increasingly challenging projects. The doors are a great next step for you and very well done. Also way stronger than most doors which are made with pine. Congrats on a successful project.
Working doors!!! you won't know yourself 👍🏼 I was a little surprised to see a sliding external door though. especially as you had room there for the door to swing 180º and latch it back against the bulkhead.
Good point! On a boat you want some doors you can secure both open and closed. They also can be exposed to lurchs/jolts both vertical and horizontal. It can be tricky to make sliding doors in such a way that they don't jump off their tracks, and not rely on gravity to seal and hang straight..
Keep your brush stroke going in the same direction and watch for puddling/buildup on the inside edges or at point with different levels basically anywhere it can build up. This will not be as noticable until it dries then you will have dark spots this is common when using colored poly or "Polyshades" also if one wood is lighter then the other you can just add a coat this will darken it. Anyway I'm sure you already know all of this. Keep up the hard work Simone my friend you are living the dream man living the dream for sure. I will always make a comment even if it's dumb just so it helps with the RUclips algorithm and hopefully helps get you some new subscribers keep it up Simon.
Wow. Looks civilized with those doors. Also, about cocktails---I found that it's not quite like cooking but cooking skills certainly help. The weird thing about mixed drinks is that their history is so... recent. Not like kraut or kimchi or baking bread. The thing that separates the majors from the minors (IMO) is the use of bitters, shrubs, liqueurs, and other flavoring ingredients. In particular I recommend Mandarin Napoleon, the best of the orange liqueurs.
Hey Simon, I recommend blurring those keys in the video. I know, remote Canada and so on. But one day a future burglary insurance of yours might refuse to pay due to an unblurred and detailed view of your keys on the web. Congrats on your new doors! All the best from Germany :)
Nice work dude. I started a similar project last year, but had a slight accident with the router and ‘pulped’ one of my fingers. I haven’t returned to the project since!
Awesome job man!! Was just wandering how you're dealing with your black tank.. any chance on getting an update on the functionality of the saloon and progress with the guest rooms?
Congrats on the doors they look great. You’ve come such a long way. Chomp & Swill section sounds great, I could do with some help cooking as Brad will attest I’m sure.
👍👌👏 Extremely well made doors, Maaaan! Stell dein Licht nicht unter den Scheffel! You did really well (work, video, cooking, drink). Congrats! The colour of the modified Manhattan looks very similar to the wood stain you used. So I was wondering if you maybe accidentally... but I was instantly relieved after you tried it. ;-) Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.
Excellent wood butchery. I'm keen to see how you get the sliding door to seal. I like the cooking montage, you should do more, it inspires me to try new recipes. Any news on the motors?
@@findingsimon Thanks for the info, I know those cook-tops are fussy about what the pan or pot is made of, I guess it won't like aluminum because it is not magnetic.
Hey Simon. Been watching and supporting your channel for quite a while, always enjoyable. Local question: There is a rumour on the island that with the Silva Bay development finally seeming to be moving forward, is the boatyard closing ?
Just rolled and tipped my hull with brightside paint. Didn't find it user friendly (brush strokes). Thinned it and put on a thin coat. All that brutal prep for nothing.
The doors turned out very good for someone that doesn't do "fine woodworking". I couldn't see it in the video but I hope you didn't glue the panels in. Nah, you didn't do that. Boat is coming along nicely.

Doors looks really nice! And it's been a while since we've had a proper cooking segment, so thumbs up, for cocktails too.
I used to enjoy the cooking bits when Simon cooked for the people that came to help him

Oh I forgot to tell you the doors look amazing I mean not just for your first time I would say they look great even if you had done them before.
Nice job Simon and not that simple. And I am a carpenter and do fine detail woodworking and carving.
hi simon , do you plan to cross the atlantic in the future , o not ever think about it ? it could be crazy but fun and epic
I know I would love to see some cooking and drinking. Come through Simon. 🌈🌈🌈
Nobody shoots food better than you. I'm hungry now. Does that cast iron pan work on the induction cook-top?
Like a dream.

Wheres the mast. Make it sail then make it nice.
