    Great video here are some other tips to help. Setup is worth 9 out of the 15 points, the other 6 and divided between car part acclimation and track acclimation. Your driver's race engineer also helps built the setup. A higher tier race engineer will make the "area of uncertainty" decrease faster on each feedback round. You can squeeze more feedback rounds out of a practice session by not adjusting the suspension settings (Anti-Roll, Tyre Camber, Toe) as they always take 4:43. But wing only changes take around 18 seconds. So you can iterate over the wing angles much faster and get them into high confidence zones then start working on the suspension. As a general rule, 30kg of fuel is required to get a full set of feedback whatever that 30kg works out to lap wise on each track (Spa it's somewhere like 11 laps, where as Monaco 30kg would be like 20 laps.) You can and _should_ edit your cars settings in between sessions, it's actually the best time to do it as it doesn't cost you time on the track -- You don't pay the almost 5 minute configuration time for suspension settings while in-between sessions. Lastly, what ever your highest confidence setup is at the end of FP3, if it's not your current setup revert your settings to highest confidence. You ONLY get the bonus when the feedback is settled on your setup. If you have one value's who has a feedback outstanding you get 0 bonus points to your driver because they are "uncertain" about about this setup.

      The pit crew tire skill determines how long it takes to adjust Toe, Anti-Roll, and Camber during practice. The Race Engineer Feedback skill also determines how long a driver has to drive to get 5/5 feedback. It is on average around 30kg of fuel but it can be higher or lower depending on the feedback skill of the Engineer.

  • @Kinvarus1
    @Kinvarus1 2 года назад +26

    The only thing I would recommend, even though it isn't entirely to do with car setup but general advice for the practice sessions is to tell your drivers to be less aggressive on their runs, they'll still give you the data you need to make your changes but they'll go easier on the tyres so they're in better condition for both Quali and the race.
    As for the actual video, great job man! Made things a lot better than the approach of looking at each track and going based on "Well Monaco has lots of corners and so I need to tweak cornering to be better." like what I was doing when I first got the game.

      Overtake is used for overtaking.
      Defend is used for defending.
      Deploy is used optimally to decrease lap times.
      Harvest is used to harvest.

      I find doing the practice sessions makes the actual races too easy, probably due to all the bonus points you get in regards to driver stats. They need to get rid of the bonuses and just leave it as the car is set up better.

    • @thereal_onelargemammal
      @thereal_onelargemammal 2 года назад

      Probably due to the fact you’re playing with either Ferrari or Red Bull. Practise sessions and subsequent high car confidence ratings are crucial to performance for mid/lower tier teams. Difference of finishing in or out of points.

    • @alexbogdanoff1514
      @alexbogdanoff1514 2 года назад

      @@ashbordoy I have to disapoint you. Car setup gives only driver bonuses, nothing else at all. And free practice can be safely skiped (unless you enjoy it) without any material impact on performance in the race.

    During fp1 I usually only adjusting front and rear wing angle because it only takes 30 seconds to change those (unless I have the reserve driver in the car). If you change other settings it would take way longer to configure in practice sessions, and there are no time penalties to change them between sessions. Then, Fp2 I would fine tune and fp3 just let the driver drive for an hour for track acclimatisation.

    I think it's worth a disclaimer. You don't need a 100% confidence setup to get all the driver bonuses. You can have a 95% setup and still achieve it. You need 100% track acclimatization, and I'm sure 100% parts knowledge probably helps as well. You need to balance how many tweaks you do because if all you do is tweak setups you'll spend more time in the pits and less time on the track.

    16. Go to practice 2 with your 5/5
    17. Change laps to 20 or 25.
    18. Just do laps for track acclimated.
    (Don't adjust set up!)
    20. Go to practice 3.
    21. Finish track acclimated.
    22. Go to qualify.
    23. Change powertrain to pristine.
    ( I save 1 just for qualifying)
    25. Profit.

    It's not 100% on lower ranked teams, engineers and drivers.
    I regularly get over 90% with Williams. Usually takes around 22-25 laps and it's a tight squeeze to get 2 setups within the hour. Highest I've managed is 99% with Albon once. And the setup only hit 5/5 on my inlap after the session finished.

    • @Kireth

      It will be harder with lower ranked teams because the engineer stats will be lower I believe

    • @Visual_Ghoul
      @Visual_Ghoul 2 года назад

      @@Kireth yes, pourchaire is faster to setup than Albon so I think the engineer is the biggest difference in setup time.

    On Steam under guides there's a website someone has made which helps you get 100% setups. Depending on your race engineer you should be able to change your setup for both drivers during practice. Hopefully before fp3 you can get 90-100%. Track acclimation only gives 3 points so it's more important to get the right setup. I'd say the most important slider to work your setups at legit are with the rear wing angle, the rest are fairly easy to get.

Once you have some notion of real circuit like barhein you know there is a lot of straight you will already know that where to try to aim and guess. But for new player or casual it's a totally random chance guessing. You'll still get 14/15 bonus points with a setup confidence of mid 80s and track aclimatisation of 100%. Which is easy with a few more laps. If you didn't call Checo in at the end of his second stints in each session, and let him run the full 20 laps in all 3 practice sessions. He would have 15/15

      14/15 is fine, you also get pace bonus for the setup and because he called him in early he created an extra run throughout the sessions which is worth it for the setup pace

    • @mrflibble9783
      @mrflibble9783 2 года назад

      @@Charlie5156 what I'm saying still gives you 2 runs
      At the end of the first run, call the driver in.
      At the end of the second run, leave the driver out longer and don't call them in. You can adjust the setup between sessions so your not loosing any setup.
      14/15 is fine. But 15 was easy in the vid with a few more laps.
