So good to hear this brilliant director give partial credit for the nightmarish scenes in The Thing to Dean Cundy. Just a amazingly talented cinematographer.
Thank you so much Rob Bottin and Mr. Carpenter for The Thing, the best movie I've ever seen. Nothing compares to the acting, sense of paranoia and creature effects in this movie.
@@MickGarrisInterviewslol , I knew I was because ive watched multiple interviews with Carpenter pronouncing his name correctly. Its It's frustrating cause he's my favorite effects artist and doesn't get enough recognition
Went to see the Thing in the theatre with friends,,,totally oblivious to the film. 20 yrs old and had no idea what to expect. Never saw the original. Not that it would have mattered. Fnking great horror film and ofc cutting edge for the time. Even have my "i saw the thing" sticker.
Cool. I love John Carpenter and The Thing. I'll hafta pick up that new Blu-ray when I can. The DVD commentary with Kurt Russell and Carpenter was great so I hope this new release has a new one.
@@vbassone No, it doesn't. It just has the commentary that we all know and love. There may have been other releases since when I bought this one but this 2017 release didn't have a new commentary.
Halloween, The Thing, Escape from New York, masterful films by John Carpenter. Hes getting on now but i just wish he would come back and do one more followup, like one last Escape from... movie or something.
This is a clip from the interview we did that appears on Scream Factory's amazing new Blu-ray of THE THING. And your timing is great: POST MORTEM is becoming a new podcast from Podcast One next month!
The Thing was so ahead of its time. I'm glad it finally started to get the props it deserves
He has damn good reason to be proud of The Thing. Mezmerizing movie.
I hope he knows how loved The Thing is now. What a fantastic movie

Carpenter's "The Thing" is legitimately my favorite movie. The second would be "The Changeling"
Good taste!

Very lucky!

Thank you Monsieur Garris for sharing this part of the interview :-) It's really interesting.
I keep hearing these popular podcasts where people pronounce Rob Bottin as (bot-inn) instead of (Boo-teen) and keep leaving comments to correct them
@@danseth5775 You are right.

Great interview sir & just to let you know, my 7 year old daughter loves sleep walkers... Two great directors right here folks.
Thanks! Your daughter and you obviously have excellent taste!
When it comes to horror we know our stuff but man, they just don't make them like they used too...
Isn't there more of this? I hope so.
John Carpenter, Rob Bottin, The Cast, Ennio Morrocones Score... I mean it was just a perfect team making a perfect film.
This is so much better than those ridiculous "Inside the Actor's Studio" interviews...
You are too kind...
The Thing is my favorite movie, period. Alien is #2, then the Exorcist.
Videodrome, Alien, The Thing.
An interview with Stephen king in post mortem would be great also!!! Keep up the good work!!
Hey Mick....is there a full interview? I'd love to see more of this interview.
This is a clip from the interview we did that appears on Scream Factory's amazing new Blu-ray of THE THING.
Cheers thanks Mick. That wouldn't happen to be that new 4K print on Blu-Ray by any chance? Really looking forward to it.
Well you made one of the greatest movies of all time, so there's that...
Is this part of a bigger interview? And please just start a podcast already, pretty please.

On the new Scream Factory THE THING blu-ray.
Blows my mind how this was a financial failure upon it's release... Screw you people from the 80's.
