Sergio Vega of Quicksand / Deftones & The American Professional Jazz Bass | Fender / fender
No one can replace Chi, but if there was any addition to Deftones, Sergio Vega and his style compliments the band perfectly. " ...i think of it (bass) as a romantic sexual type instrument " ---fans of Deftones understand and appreciate this.
TOTALLYYYY!!!!
Deftones themselves don't give a damn about our boy
With Steph all over the low end, Sergio sits in a perfect spot in Deftones mix. Love it.
Too bad he's not part of the band anymore. End of an era
Absolute one of the best bassists around. His tone and playstyle are amazing.
I really think Vega's style lended itself incredibly well to the Deftones albums of the 2010s. The baseline on Swervecity still blows me away.
All of the people down here in the comments must be Jaco or Marcus Miller because man, Sergio is a very tight bass player. "Slip" by Quicksand is full of gnarly bass lines.
Fazer is so fucking good!
Baphomet, Omission, Can Opener, Unfulfilled, and Fazer. Such awesome bass lines! I know he used a DeArmond Pilot bass too at some point too.
im huge jaco fan, and sergio. all flavors are great.
As a bass player, I am one who likes to play with a pick at times, and fingers at other times. I like to be able to play both ways because they give you a different sound, unique
A lot different from Chi, but they both fit well in Deftones
agree. both heavy though. great players
A lot different from a lot of others too
I totally agree. Sucks how deftones fired him due to their ego
Жаль что его выгнали так неувожительно
Grande Sergio Vega te extrañaré en Deftones. Y espero mucha música nueva con tu banda.
Honestly with the jazz bass you can still play almost anything because it’s versatile
He kills it live.
0:49,just gunna borrow that bass riff... Its to sick
I believe its Omission.
nothing wrong with playing bass with a pick. it's it's own style
Yeah there's nothing wrong with playing with a pick. But he's bad at playing with one anyway
Shame this dude Wojak Sánchez in the RUclips comments isn't making bank off of playing bass as a professional musician. He sounds like he must be good.
Wojak Sánchez I don’t see you making money playing bass. I don’t see you being featured by the best guitar company in the world. So shut up and get a life
Ryan Henderson ummm he actually might be doing all those things tho
Wojak is the new bassist for Deftones.
Anyone dissing his tone or playing has no concept of heavy modern music
Heavy modern music??? He start quicksand in the begining of 90's
@@cacadordorio right, and the people complaining about his tone and his style are boomers who think everything needs to sound like their favorite classic rock band.
QUICKSAND RULES
0:15 god damn I could listen to that all day.
Jorge Garcia that bassline is omission by quicksand
@@freddyantrax thanks king
Since bass is definitely very important with Deftones. Sergio's groovy style actually was sweet with Deftones ethereal feels
Quicksand and Chavez, two of my fav bands of the 90s.
I'm definitely jealous of his hair colour and bass tone !
Check his awesome sound on the new quicksand album
i also like to play bass with a pick
i realy like his tone and his playing! :)
Sergios old school. From the NY punk rock days. Sergio is tha man. Always been a Quicksand fan. Deftones are better with him.
Definitivamente
@Fender But that's a Mustang GT Amp! It works with bass too?
Great bass player ...great bands
You should have Mike Kerr from royal blood over with the jaguar bass
they probably will since he started working with fender
Probably won't because there is no american Pro Jag bass
Izaak Glynn well the American standard is pretty much the professional version of the overall standard
great tones
What amp Is he using?
Nice "Imelda Marcos' closet" reference.
YEAHHHH FILIPINO REFERENCES BE LIKEEE
some of y'all would really love motorhead huh?
What is the effects chain? KILLER!
Love you man
This is the best tone i've ever heard. Does anyone know his set up?
There are some Videos by orange !
WHAT AMP IS THAT?
Dar_Welchito looks like a Fender Rumble Studio 40(the one with all the built in effects)
What distortion is he using ?
0:49 que música é essa?
they seem to be riffs very similar to "backward" or "divorce" from the manic compression album, but I'm not sure
1:20
Pibe Valderrama playing bass !
My own summer bass part doesn’t sound right played with a pick
Yea because it was first played by chi cheng
@@scarletgrey2180 the attack sounds wrong
@@gbvoul your not wrong
Patt Smear? Haha
Entre creyendo que hablaban del shaka >:c
Pls, song 2:54 - 3:03.
dont think it's a song.. just some jam
perhaps) mmmmm..... big muff, its cool)
here after deftones kicked his ass 😕
Ugh?!?!?!
Too many ppl play fender, try adamovic bass.
What a shame :(
You've got the wrong Vega guys...you should've brought Bobby Vega :)
This is a guitarist.
All I wanted to say is, he is playing it like a guitar, not only because he's using a pick.
ps: calm down
kk
Jay big of course, but hes playing bass like a guitar, even if he played with fingers.
So?
i am MAD And there’s nothing wrong with stepping out of the background and playing more complex stuff on the bass. You must be either A) one of those old dudes who claims that playing root bites is all a bass is good for or B) a guitar player who is Salty that a bass player is better than you
This is the most awful thing I've heard in a while, sorry.
Martí Sanmartí I agree. Makes no sense
To each his own... he is one of my favorite bassists in terms of song craft... And I dig bassists from Les Claypool to Jaco to Charles Mingus to Anthony Jackson to Jonas Hellbourg...
Give this dude a $200 ibanez and give that jazz bass to someone who knows how to play it
J. What are you trying to say?
Ryan Henderson Hes being pretentious
Ibanez are excellent for gritty tones.
Bruh that’s why he’s a better player than you lmao
Spoken from your bedroom lololol!
