HI! as Angelo has done a good job with giving background on the guys, but I thought I would add some things: Geoff Castellucci is the bass - some people have issues pronouncing his name so I wanted to add that it is pronounced like Jeff. He also has like a 4-5 octave range. He identifies himself as a Baritone with a Bass range. So he can get up pretty high, but his low notes are the most impressive - he often uses a technique called sub-harmonics to get even lower than what you believe is possible. He arranged this song, and he has arranged a lot of their other songs. (He's also an original member of the group which started in 1997 under the name 4-2-Five) Layne Stein is the vocal percussionist - he also (as mentioned by others) does a lot of the arrangements as well as Geoff. He also is a pretty good baritone, and is able to bass as well. (Also an original member) Eli (pronounced "Ellie") Jacobson - the "bald" guy is technically the Tenor 2 of the group - but is also able to do baritone/bass as well when needed. He has a great "rock" style to his tone, and can do some great sustained runs. (joined the group a couple/few years after it was created) J-None (White shirt): as mentioned, he has now left the group to sing with the Naval band. He technically the groups Baritone - he replaced Tony who left in late 2017/early 2018 (not sure exactly on timing). He brought a great energy to the group. Deejay Young (blue shirt) - is the featuring artist and has sung with VoicePlay in 3 songs now - "Man in the Mirror", "Your my Best Friend" and "Bang!" - all which are really amazing. VoicePlay have had a lot of featured artists lately, partly to cover the Tenor 1 part as their previous Tenor 1 (Earl Elkins Jr - who is a big, buff guy with an amazing voice) left in June 2020. They still in the process of finding someone to replace him.
So J. None the first voice you hear has left to go be a singer in the Navy. Beside him, the guy with the glasses is Eli, then on J. None's other side is Deejay. He's done 3 songs with VP (maybe more). The beatboxer is Layne, he is fire! And then the super bass monster that is Geoff Castellucci! Geoff has his own RUclips channel...highly recommend! VoicePlay is my favorite aca group ever
All the members of Voiceplay can go high. Geoff, JNone, and beatboxer Layne can also go low. Eli is their Tenor2. Earl Elkins, their Tenor1, left the group last year, so they've been having various guest artists. Now JNone, theoretically the baritone, is leaving too (for the Navy) and can only perform with them when he's on leave. It's hard to say exactly how low Geoff can go, and still generate a clear sound. Maybe C#1. He does a clear E1 on Oogie Boogie's Song (on the Voiceplay channel) and Blackbird (on his own channel). Eli and JNone can both do some beautiful runs. Check them out on Tennessee Whiskey.
Hello, Fyer. Thanks for your reaction[s]. Let me share what I know...VoicePlay competed in Season 4 of the Sing-Off and were sent home by The Filharmonic who in turn was sent home by Home Free, and Home Free won Season 4. VoicePlay's bass is Geoff Castellucci, the long-haired Italian dude who also does most of their vocal arrangement [including Home Free's cover of Elvira feat The Oak Ridge Boys]. The guy who led the video is J None and I believe this will be his last time with the group---I think he's joining the military [someone correct me] The featured artist Deejay Young---guy w crucifix necklace. The two I'm not too sure with their names are Eli---lead tenor, and Layne---beatboxer. Suggestions: Eleanor Rigby; Go The Distance; Carry on Wayward Son; Superstition; and Just Sing!...huge collaboration . Ciao!
From a quick read through, everything appears correct. J did just leave to join Navy specifically (Navy Band as a vocalist from what I understand). While this was a Geoff arrangement, Layne will also do quite a bit of the arranging as well.
@@Katie-mb8zj Yeah, Layne helped Chris Rupp who is the co-founder of Home Free, in figuring out the arrangement for Home Free's Butts Medley/Remix. Fun and cool video.
They teamed with a female soloist for the Sing Off, because they were told they would not do well otherwise, but she took a lot of the spotlight. I would have loved if they had let Geoff lead more.
Nobody is quite sure exactly what Geoff's full range is, but he's comfortable up to about the middle of the treble staff, and down to about E1. He occasionally hits notes outside that range, but inside that range he hits routinely, almost casually.
All of the VP have a great range. J.None have 4 years ahead in the navy and might feature in VP later on again. ( the Guy who started singing) He is baryton, but do have as all of them a great range. Bass is Geoff Castellucci... (Jeff) go listen to his own channel, High and dry might give you his range best. Eli ( Elly) the bald Guy, have a strong voice. Think he is tenor 2. He also have some bass range. Layne beatbox.... He have a great singing range too, bass and tenor.
So, several people have already given you everybody's name, so I'm just going to jump in with a couple of song suggestions. If you want to hear more of DeeJay's range, then check out their cover of Bang!, as he really flexes in that one. If you like theatrical videos, then I'll suggest My Mother Told Me or their Little Mermaid Medley (both give you a much better view of Geoff's talents as a bass singer). If you want it all about the music, then I'll suggest Carry On Wayward Son (Eli, the 2nd tenor in the cool jacket, really gets to flex in that one) or (for a change of pace) Can't Help Falling in Love.
Geoff's range (bass guy) is "yes" xD
Very accurate statement.
VoicePlay is such a big rabbit hole, welcome. Enjoy your great stay.

Should point out the Layne started out as a tenor and then took over when their original beatboxer left
Geoff Castellucci's range is (C#0)B0-A5
DeeJay sings with VoicePlay on You're My Best Friend, and Bang!! showing more of his amazing range. Both are very entertaining videos too.

Geoff's range is C1 or lower to A5
F#1
@Wisdom It’s F#1 - A5
@Wisdom nope, it’s f#1-a5
@Wisdom That’s unfortunately flat out incorrect, sorry
@Wisdom I’m sorry, however I am 100% certain that I’m correct, so right back at you 👍🏽
