HELL YEAH!! A decent guide on determining authenticity! Been trying to work on one myself haha, though my idea goes into.... muuuuch more depth 💀 Anyways, a few clarifications on certain facts and details. I know you were trying to be general with the facts so that itd be easier to digest, but my autism compels me to add on lmao - About the magnets, it has been discovered that pets 1 - 320 were originally produced with red magnets, with this trend ending after the release of 321 and the others from his line. I haven't been able to determine where gray/blue magnets ended exactly, but I have found it ends somewhere in the 700 - 800 ballpark. Pets after that were produced with no magnet whatsoever. Another thing to note is that certain pets released very early on were rereleased with gray magnets. There's a select few pets that were released with completely filled feet, their magnets instead being in their head. A popular example is 16 - Additionally, there is one very special case. 5, the first shorthair, was produced with ALL THREE foot types. She was rereleased to hell and back, causing this to happen. Versions of her authentic with a hole are hard to find. - You were correct about the neck pegs! One general rule is that pets 2000 and up are released with white neck pegs, though they didn't get consistent until 2100. Blythe pets, such as 1615, always have white neck pegs as well. As do blind bag pets. However, there may be authentic pets outside of those conditions with white pegs. These are very few and extremely far between, as they are most likely factory errors. - EDIT: Forgot a tidbit! Blythe pets were also produced with different material, which is why that one spaniel was super squishy! - you are absolutely correct about the eyes too! I just feel a need to clarify that there are some pets past 456 that were produced with matte eyes... including my own mascot, 491! However, there's not many. Honestly if you buy fakes knowing they’re fakes I’m all for it. They look good to me and not everyone can drop so much money trying to get their dreamies, but if you sell fakes as authentic…. Shakes head
i hate people who sell fakes and dont put "they are fakes" in the description of their products, i feel bad for people who think they got their dream pet authentic but its just a fake. i get some people wanna make a quick buck by saying their fake is real and selling it, but its just a rude thing to do.
To me it doesn’t matter if they are fake or not. As long as I am receiving a high quality item that looks authentic, I’ll still use it, since I only make skits. Though I do feel really bad for collectors who get scammed by the fake LPS, my heart goes out to y’all!
Unfortunately, the fakes aren't made as well even if they feel like they are. In my experience they always feel and look cheap, but some certainly look and feel cheaper than others. The fake ones are made of poorer quality material which is why people can buy them for so cheap. Also, I've heard quite a few of the fakes are made with dangerous materials that can cause cancer and infertility.
I'm very thankful for this video! Even though I've been in the community for over half my life, the fakes have gotten really good at replicating the feel of authentics recently, which can be kind of disheartening for people who are serious about collecting. Thank you carter!
Same here man!! I’ve been collecting since I was roughly 9 years old and I’m 21 now and it’s getting harder and harder to tell apart the fakes at some times, this is why nowadays I only buy from LPSQueen since they are a guaranteed authentic lps seller.
it’s always the chubbier cheeks of every real lps compared to fake lps that gets me knowing. the eyes are another indicator but towards feeling, real lps are less stiff in bobble.
I've fallen out of love with Littlest Pet Shop for a few years now and have recently decided to start collecting all of the pets I've dreamed of as a kid now that I have adult money to spare, just as a healing treat. This video has been very informative & helpful to make sure I avoid falling for any fakes, thank you a lot for making it! :)
You've fallen OUT of love with them or you've fallen IN love with them? I'm just curious why you would want to collect them if you don't like them anymore.
@@jakob9246 Sorry, english isn't my first language so I might've worder my thoughts wrong. I've fallen out of love with them for a few years and recently started to love littlest pet shop again is what I meant :)
I'd like to add that for the shorthair cats, fakes usually have more of a curved back, giving them a slight booty lol. Some models can be hard to tell unless you have a real and a fake side by side, but if the cat looks like it has scoliosis then it's almost definitely a fake
Thanks so much for posting this! It's very helpful- I know that most LPStubers talk about how to find fakes in there vids but having a whole vid dedicated to that? Ya done good. 🤩😆
I wanna add one tip that also helps! It's about the plastic edges/lines in pets (these tips works with main5 pets) !! I don't promise these are 100%true in every pets, you should look for another signs too !! Usually, in fake collies, cockers, dachshunds and shorthairs, the line is going on their back while real ones have them on the sides of the body !( Great dane is exception! they have it on their back)! - real collies have circle-shaped plastic edge on their right front paw (you can see the real collie having it 23:18) - if pet has line going up to its neck (front side), its fake - in short hairs, lines on their tail shouldn't meet under the tail (making Y-looking shape), they should "go around" the tail on their own sides In other pets, the lines should also go from side to side, not behind the tail (Great dane is exception again, they have line going from butt up to tail) Some fake collies might have the same Y-shape behind the tail as short hairs fakes I know its almost impossible to spot these from pics but if you have the pet in you hands you really should check how the lines are going on it This might be confusing but I hope it helps
Honestly I don’t really care if they are fake or not cause they look so alike and I can get them cheap 😂 Love your videos keep up the amazing work!! ❤️❤️❤️
This video came at a perfect time for me! I'm currently trying to find replacements for all of the pets I lost a few years ago when my "keep" bag got misplaced. While the design is more important to me than authenticity, I prefer to know when they aren't legitimate. Especially if I'm looking for one of the more expensive ones!
Lps cocker spaniel with brown and white fur with freckles there is a fake of it and for first glance it's convincing. The pet you showed was like the easiest to tell fake spaniel lol
Thank you for making this, you do such a good job at actually explaining things (I'm pretty good at spotting fakes but I don't think I could explain it very well). Thank for making this!! I decided I wanted to restart my collection recently and I've been very cautious about which ones are real and which ones are fake. The 5 I just bought were all real (none of them are any big 5 molds though lol)
You can also look for seams from the mold, usually the authentic pets have a couple of indentations or dips along the seams while the fakes don't. Take dachshunds for example, they have a very noticeable spot on their front right paws and the fakes are completely smooth.
Ive been collecting old LPS since i was 4 😅 This helps alot tbh. Always when someone is selling LPS figures (not in store) i usually see always they are fake, and cost so much! Im always careful tho 😁

I specifically got the purple Cocker Spaniel and a pink and white shorthair cat with a glittery flower thing placed on its eye. I found out the Cocker spaniel is actually real and that the cat is most likely fake lol. Thank you!! :D
Update: soooo the cocker spaniel was fake…I used both as custom bases and it ended up pretty well! Lesson learned: gotta check if they’re real or fake next time :P
Ahh thank you so much for posting this cc! I was just about to buy some lps but I was not sure if they where fake or not, so thank you this will help me so much!💖
This came just in time- I was googling how to tell them apart days ago. I am an older collector just barely coming back in. Back when I was active, fakes were egregiously obvious (didn’t even have bobble heads- do you guys remember those?) and only when I was losing interest were convincing fakes finally getting to the market. So I’m very curious if any fakes managed to make it to my collection (especially my Egyptian cat who was my favorite) sadly I can’t check because they’re stored back at my parents house. Next time I head back I can’t wait to see how many fakes I have! Thanks for this guide!
As much as I would want a real one, I’m glad there are fakes so I can just buy the one want with out worrying about outrageous prices for 2 inch toys. And unlike mlp they look so real too so I can just enjoy them either way! The video definitely is beneficial though so you won’t get scammed when buying from someone and knowing if you have a authentic one (so you won’t do any customs or ruin it lol)
hey cc i need your help my brook from lps popular has caveing at the neck but i got her at the flea market in a big lot of lps for $30 and she came with the 2 horses she comes with originally and idk if shes fake bc she has the head shape as the real one can you ples help me?
YayayyayayayyYa cc hi I sent fanmaillll can’t wait for fan mail Friday I think I will love my note!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been in the community for 3 years can’t wait for Friday!
I’m currently looking for lps 960 authentic in perfect conditions because it’s one of my most favourite pets I’ve notice that the muzzle is more defined on authentic cocker spaniels u can see this at 11:45 in the vid from the front view the bottom part of the muzzle also looks more like a triangle with rounded corners while the fake has a shorter triangular muzzle the real’s muzzle is also molded higher up than compared to the fakes
I always notice when their heads are slightly tilted whereas most auth LPS’s head will sit straight, most fakes in this video have slightly wonky or leaning heads.
My go to for spotting fake LPS is if they have the extra plastic around their neck (and have the small little lines in them), if their eyes are shiny (if theyre gen 2 or up) and if the paint isn't perfect because fake ones are like perfect like made in a factory while real ones kinda color outside of the lines a little (oh yeah and their texture is very plastic and scratchy like instead of toy like) (oh yeah chipped noses and them looking like they're used is a good sign of authenticity since fake lps are newly made) (Also sometimes some fake LPS will come with red magnets but the fake ones are more pink and the real ones are more red) Note: one time I got a fake LPS that didn't even have a copyright 😭 I've never seen that before tbh
Thank you, litterly thanks I was watching this and taking a good look at my collection and found 6 fakes and yeeted them across the floor. But seriously this was a big help ty!!!!
tysm for this video! sadly now i realised i just ordered a fake lps (which was gonna be my mascot ) but i also just bid a lot of money on a different pet,now i feel better because i know its authentic! thank you
i’m only watching this because i want to sell some of mine and i need to make sure i don’t accidentally sell people fakes 😭😭😭 luckily looks like mine are good
i'm trying to recollect my childhood collection because my mom made me get rid of it now i'm looking through all the pets and most of them are super expensive 😣
I actually love these type of videos!! (Like the prototype one, it was super interesting!) This video is super informative 🧡 and since I just started collecting G2s recently, after collecting new gen LPS for so long, I’ll definitely be using these tips. 🧡🧡
the indentation tip was really helpful, i find it easier than the eye tip just cause i feel like some pets eyes arent as glossy as others. I just started getting back into lps so this guide is really helpful ^^ edit: as I watched the video the eye tip was easier to understand and I was able to point out the real one easily, so thank you so much! I used this tip to go through a recent bundle i bought and thank fully they were all genuine from what I could tell. Although some of my pets eyes arent as glossy as others (like the paint seems to be blurred either to age and/or rough paint job) so that made it difficult hahaha
I have a fake great dane I got when I was like, 12-13, came with his head detached but my mom was like "the mold is the same it's authentic." It's pretty bad, I'm gonna glue the peg back into the head soon so I can customize it.
I recently found a listing of #391 which had a starting bid of £5. Nobody had bidded on it, and as I only had £10 I bid £6 plus postage and safe to say I’ve found quite the deal 😂 I’m around 95% sure that it’s real from the pictures provided, and if I’m right, I’ll definitely feel lucky, but if it’s fake I won’t be too bothered as it’s not like I paid much.
i just bought the same pet from Mercari and I thought it was real but I did not know that they do the magnet thing 21:39 and change it to a red magnet. I think she’s supposed to have a gray one…. i’m so confused because at the bottom it has hasbro written??
Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! I often buy LPS from thrift stores and I always authenticate them before I sell. I would keep them but I unfortunately don’t have room, so I sell extras :)
fake lps producers watching this video taking notes like crazy. but all the fakes i came into contact with as a kid had super squishy heads. but that was years and years ago so i guess that doesn't apply anymore? i dunno but it was glaringly obvious they were fakes, anyways.

Usually, in fake collies, cockers, dachshunds and shorthairs, the line is going on their back while real ones have them on the sides of the body !( Great dane is exception! they have it on their back)!
- real collies have circle-shaped plastic edge on their right front paw (you can see the real collie having it 23:18)
- if pet has line going up to its neck (front side), its fake
- in short hairs, lines on their tail shouldn't meet under the tail (making Y-looking shape), they should "go around" the tail on their own sides

I don’t mind buying fakes, but this video was really helpful!
HI 1 HOUR AGO OMG HI THIS VID WAS REALLY HELPFUL I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
My go to for spotting fake LPS is if they have the extra plastic around their neck (and have the small little lines in them), if their eyes are shiny (if theyre gen 2 or up) and if the paint isn't perfect because fake ones are like perfect like made in a factory while real ones kinda color outside of the lines a little (oh yeah and their texture is very plastic and scratchy like instead of toy like) (oh yeah chipped noses and them looking like they're used is a good sign of authenticity since fake lps are newly made)
(Also sometimes some fake LPS will come with red magnets but the fake ones are more pink and the real ones are more red)
Note: one time I got a fake LPS that didn't even have a copyright 😭 I've never seen that before tbh
I love lps❤❤❤ I just started collecting😅😊 and you are my favorite lpstuber ❤❤❤
13:35 about the magnets, my one LPS daschund has a small magnet, is it a fake? I hope not i paid alot 😢
Thank you, litterly thanks I was watching this and taking a good look at my collection and found 6 fakes and yeeted them across the floor. But seriously this was a big help ty!!!!
Happy late new years cc
tysm for this video! sadly now i realised i just ordered a fake lps (which was gonna be my mascot ) but i also just bid a lot of money on a different pet,now i feel better because i know its authentic! thank you
I saw my comment in the intro lol! Thanks for making this video, it was very helpful!
Yay you’re back
Another thing to look out for in regards to great danes, is their nose. 9 outta 10 times their nose is either taller or shorter than it should be
i’m only watching this because i want to sell some of mine and i need to make sure i don’t accidentally sell people fakes 😭😭😭 luckily looks like mine are good
I was hoping if you could cover smaller pets like kittens pups hampters and stuff
I've bought 6 stuff from your store!
Thanks so much CC this will definitely help me with online lps shopping 😄
I’m your biggest fan!!
no me 🥺
Can you make a video about what you got for Christmas please?
I don't know much about LPS. Everytime I try to guess which one is fake, I pick the legit one!!
Man... Fakes being that well made is alarming...
i'm trying to recollect my childhood collection because my mom made me get rid of it now i'm looking through all the pets and most of them are super expensive 😣
I actually love these type of videos!! (Like the prototype one, it was super interesting!) This video is super informative 🧡 and since I just started collecting G2s recently, after collecting new gen LPS for so long, I’ll definitely be using these tips. 🧡🧡
I still kinda like fake LPS. One of them is my favorite one, even if she is a fake. She's still kinda cute, but this is helpful!
Thank you!! I just always bought lps from your eBay. Now I can get lps anywhere!! (I still love your listings)
Welcome back!!
Thank you!!!
This is gonna help so much CC!
(I'm a new collector)
This is so helpful! Luckily from this video I found some fake pets from my collection thank you:D
the indentation tip was really helpful, i find it easier than the eye tip just cause i feel like some pets eyes arent as glossy as others. I just started getting back into lps so this guide is really helpful ^^
edit: as I watched the video the eye tip was easier to understand and I was able to point out the real one easily, so thank you so much!
LPs fake makers be taking notes😅
I recently found a listing of #391 which had a starting bid of £5. Nobody had bidded on it, and as I only had £10 I bid £6 plus postage and safe to say I’ve found quite the deal 😂 I’m around 95% sure that it’s real from the pictures provided, and if I’m right, I’ll definitely feel lucky, but if it’s fake I won’t be too bothered as it’s not like I paid much.
was it real?
i just bought the same pet from Mercari and I thought it was real but I did not know that they do the magnet thing 21:39 and change it to a red magnet. I think she’s supposed to have a gray one…. i’m so confused because at the bottom it has hasbro written??
@@sagearoni Yeah most fakes have "Hasbro" written on their bodies, it's not a way to tell whether the pet is fake or not unfortunately 🥲
I'd love it if you could finish First Comes Love.. I really loved that series :)
CC's Back!!
I'm so sad that I sold my old LPS
i rlly needed this video, looking on ebay for lps and are suspicious at almost every result lmao
Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! I often buy LPS from thrift stores and I always authenticate them before I sell. I would keep them but I unfortunately don’t have room, so I sell extras :)
Thank you so much for this video! This is very helpful, and I'll definitely use these tips and tricks as a new collector!
10:07 why does the fake look like the real ones goth sister😂
Hiii CC! I love ye videos and want to be just like u one day
I unfortunately got a pack of LP's not knowing what I've welcomed to my house after that boom no more lps
I have a dachshund from the mommy and baby set and she has a white peg and she's authentic
Dear CC! You can remove nail polish from eyes with hot water and an orange stick!!!
fake lps producers watching this video taking notes like crazy.
but all the fakes i came into contact with as a kid had super squishy heads. but that was years and years ago so i guess that doesn't apply anymore? i dunno but it was glaringly obvious they were fakes, anyways.
I got a package today with daschund 1211 and two g5's for £5.99. Using this I found out it was real! I got a real steal!!
