Hell yeah!!! Looking good Mass.. Sorry about the loss
It's all good bro. Thanks for watching
Sorry about the clown... live and learn. Thats cool about the shrimp cleaning your other clown. Have never seen that with my shrimp yet. Now that you've had the brown algae you'll start seeing green appearing too. They both seem to come and go without any changes in what your doing for maint, it's normal. I've learned that the tank seems to go through mini cycles all the time with any little change. Add a coral, get a little cycle, add a fish, get a little cycle, add a rock, get a little cycle clean the filter, get a little cycle. The bacteria just needs to 'catch up' whenever theres any little change. Probably not as noticeable in a larger tank. Anyway, looking good so far.
Thanks bro and thanks for the advice. I'll be watching your channel for more updates
That's cool buddy. cool info about the fire shrimp. Get it on camera
I know. Sweet. I'll get it on camera
Sorry to hear about the other clown. It sucks to lose a fish. Looking forward to seeing some corals.
Thanks Jon. Me too. Updates to come
Extremely cool
Thanks
Looking good my friend
Thank you and thanks for tuning in
Awesome video Mike! Tank is looking sweet:) Sorry for your clown fish but you can never predict what will happen in a new tank.
Thanks. And true, very true
I had the same experience with fluval cycle and the other bottled bacteria. Luckily i was doing a fishless cycle and adding pure ammonia. My AC tank took about 3 weeks to cycle as well. Patience is the fishkeepers best friend!
I couldn't have said it better myself
I'm terrified to start a salt water. My family is super excited though.
You got it. Same as fresh except the water has salt.
Tank looks great! sorry for the loss
Thanks. It's ok. It happens
sorry to hear that you lost 1 of your clowns man tank looks great cool video
Thanks bro as always I appreciate your support
Sorry to hear about the clown. Natural cycle pays off better. And keeps your tank more stable.
Thanks NY. Yeah I do like a natural cycle
Tetra Safestart always works. As far as I know, they're the only one who use the right bacteria. Oh And Dr. Tim
I keep hearing about Dr. Tim
Sorry to hear about the clown. Hear us on the brown algae I look forward to it as well when setting up a new tank. Fired Up!!!
Hey thanks Slim. It happens. Fired up to get some coral
Great job man. Glad you mentioned diatoms. If I had a dollar for everyone that ran out and bought chemicals to remove that i'd be rich. . Cycle on brother.
Lol. I know right. Super pumped
Looking awesome, thanks for warning us about the fluval cycle!
No problem bro and thanks. Everyone keeps mentioning Dr. Tims. May want to try that
Sorry about the fish, I never trust those "instant cycle" products. Glad everything it doing good tho Mike. Soon you'll upgrade to larger tank I bet!
Thanks. Yeah I see that coming far to soon
Wow just like finding Nemo! Sorry about the dead clown. I just had a huge 5inch giant danio bite the bullet last night, so I'm pretty bummed as well.
Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Huge danio. 5 inches. Daaaaang
Yea... I was pretty upset
Sorry to hear about the loss, a clown fish was the first salt water fish I lost when first started salt water, I feel that people should let there tank cycle naturally, don't rush, take your time, you learn more that way, just my opinion, good luck bro=) keep up the great wrk :)
I appreciate that comment and with salt I think you are right. Problem is like myself you go from fresh to salt and get to excited and make all sorts of rookie mistakes like impulse buys. Lol. But patience is the key with all tanks and especially salt. Thanks for watching bro and updates to come
thanks for the update on fluval... far too often we post reviews on our first thoughts of a product and never follow up with the real information later.. In the future may wanna try cycling with some cheap mollies that way if they die its not a biggie or if they dont die they are easier to catch since they are not as fast as real salt water only fish... tank looking good man.. def more lessons to be learning ill be watching
Thanks bro. I'm sure I'll make plenty more mistakes but I love it. Salt is addicting. Can't wait to see your new setup
Sorry for the loss. The whole instant cycle isn't instant. I use the product to help jump start the tank, but it'll take 2-3 weeks to fully cycle.
Yeah. I'm all cycled up now. Tank is doing great. Salinity is spot on and levels are perfect. Time for corals
MASS Aquariums Awesome, can't wait to see you what corals you're going to add.
Update coming soon. Pretty pumped the tank is settling in.
Sorry bro that you lost a clown still looks amazing brother
Thanks my brother
People are learning from both your success and failures! Your following keeps growing!
Thanks Ricky. I appreciate it bro
You are welcome!
ive dono 10-13 days cycle in 10 gl
cleaning sand in dechlorinated water and pouring off most the water and pouring 3/4 ottle of cycle IN the sand .and rest over filter foams
👍🏻
Great videos. Keep coming with the updates. Dr.Tims bacteria is awesome for cycling a tank.
Thanks. Will do. I'll check it out.
Coral addition would be awesome. Maybe you can do a how to vid on placing corals in your tank.
Yeah I probably will thanks for watching
I’d rather Juss patiently wait
Yep
Cant wait for the corral to arrive.
Keep it up Mike.!
Thanks Erik. Me too
Should have used ATM Colony man
So I've heard. Lol. I will try that next time. Was tough to find around here
Sorry able the clown loss, it's interesting that the clown bit it, usually the inverts are more sensitive. Just curious, but were you testing the water during the cycle? Weekly water changes might have helped. I would hold off on the skimmer if you can, skimmers for that size tank can be expensive and not that great, especially when doing a 25-50% water change is so easy. Good luck
Thanks. Yeah I was testing everyday. I added the fish on the 1st day using Fluval cycle. I think because the Fluval didn't work very well the tank still went through a normal cycle which the clown probably didn't adjust well. I also think the other clown was beating up on him a little. He had a cut on his lip
It must have been the perfect storm then, too much stress, my clowns go at it from time to time and I've had them together for like 8 or 9 months.
Yeah bi think that's what it was
Tank looks awesome. Sorry about the clown. Everything else looks good tho
Thanks J
I got another question for you brother. Im also using the aquaclear 50 for my 20 gallon long. I'm using the stock filtration set that came with it while i cycle the tank. Going on week 2. Did your flow slow a bit when you used the sponge-poly-chemipure setup here? I'm trying to control my flow coming out of that filtration because it's becoming a bit too much. I have it in the lowest flow setting. Thanks for your help as always
No. Flow is still good. It slows down a little bit not to much
Why at 27 or 28 seconds does the whole background move? Watch right by his head when he touches the tank.
I think my old ass iPhone at the time had some sort of auto adjust.
sucks about the clown. i dont believe in any instant cycle product. i think they may speed up the process at best. glad everyone else is doing well though. cool little tank.
Thanks Dave. The only instant cycle is established media in new tanks. Unfortunately this is my first salt tank
completely agree.
Sweet man. What do you have for flow and filtration? Any HOB skimmer?
Aquaclear 50 with a sponge and chemi pure elite and a hydor circ pump rated at 425gph. No skimmer. Thanks for watching Dave. Wow I can reply. Holy shit
Haha, hell yeah man. Ruben showed me how to fix my issue. G+ settings were messed up. Chemi will help for sure. What about a skimmer or fuge?
I may get a nano skimmer later if I have any phosphate or nitrate problems. But for now, simple simple. Old fashion HOB and circ pump. Water change when needed and done and done
How's it goin man? I was wondering if you can answer this question. I know you top off with ro/di, but how do you keep track of how much to add? And if the salinity goes below 1.023, for example... How would you match the water that has been removed? Thanks for your input.
With evaporation the salinity will only increase so topping off will lower it back down. You can pick a mark on your tank like the heater line and always top off to that line and check your salinity. Once you find the spot it's easy
I'm starting a NANO as soon as I get back from vacation. 10 gallon with a 30 gallon HOB. will have a powered also. going with crushed coral for a base. I'm leaning towards dry rock, possibly the purple 2.1 rock. I'm stuck with how to cycle it. should I just put everything in with water and add a hardy fish and let it go while watching carefully?
That's how I would do it. Put some dr Tims one and only in too
MASS Aquariums, thank you. I'll keep you up to date. should be running in 10 days.
👍🏻
@@nicholasadamstone 4yrs later how did it come out?
Hi was wondering what lighting would be better for my 45g 60x8x24 wall aquarium , (2)galaxyhydro or (3)aquasun ho led ? your thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated. In advance thank you.
I would go with the Mars Aqua. Grows great and inexpensive
I am so worried becuase your fish died and you thought it was cyacled! I have all theses corals coming! They will die I am sure. I live 30 micutes fro the ocean, or my hubby said we could buy ocean water from petco for 80bucks! I have live sand that claims to cycle as well! If it dosnt I am out of all this money. I have asked her to cancel! dont know what I Was thinking! I am rambling haha. Someone suggested I test before I add. I know invertabre must have fully cycled. I dont want o risk a clown! I want 2 clowns and a cleaner shrimp total. I bought a 10 dollar coral, i cant keep the cycle going with a coral. Maybe I should dose ammonia with the coral, or food and if I cant cancel my corals or delay shipments, and break them up into 3 shipments
pleas tell me the dimensions of this tank
Standard 10 gallon
what light is that?
Zoomed LED
Hi about to set up a marine tank, nano what way would you recommend the best way of cycling cycling the tank ?
Just put everything in and let it go. My friend +RonSovine like Dr Tims bacteria to start it up
You gonna get another clown?
I'm thinking about it. Corals first though
A Clownfish in a 10 gallon Tank, really!?
No. There's actually 2
