Brief history of the nests:
2016 Woodland Trust acquire the Loch Arkaig ancient Caledonian rainforest remnant and manage it in partnership with Arkaig Community Forest.
2017 A nest cam is installed on a refurbished Osprey nest. A young male Louis and a young female Aila take up residence and raise one male chick to fledging: Lachlan JH4. 2018 Louis & Aila return but a Pine Marten steals all their eggs.
2019 Louis & Aila return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Mallie JJ0 and Rannoch JJ2.
2020 Louis & Aila return and raise two male and one female chicks to fledging: Doddie JJ6; Vera JJ8 and Captain JJ7.
2021 Louis returns but sadly Aila doesn't. Louis takes up residence on a new nest with a new mate Dorcha and they raise two male chicks to fledging: Aspen LW3 and Alder LW4. This is designated Nest Two, no one takes up residence on Nest One.
2022 Woodland Trust install a nest cam on Nest Two. Louis & Dorcha return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Willow LW5 and Sarafina LW6. Still no residents on Nest One.
2023 Louis & Dorcha return, and raise one male chicks to fledging: Ludo LY7. No residents on Nest One but male Garry LV0 spent a lot of time flirting with Affric 152 despite her mate Prince still being around.
The Woodland Trust nest cam was installed by Wildlife Windows in Arkaig Community Forest, it is funded by The People's Postcode Lottery and operates on wifi provided by Locheilnet. Watch the livestream 24/7.

Thank you for the update Geemeff. A little bit confusing but watching and patiently waiting. So good to see Duper Dad Louis, I hope life settles for the little family.
What a day, Dorcha must be confused. Good to see Louis again.
Are they planning on moving the chicks away @Geemeff?
I understood that would only happen if Louis didn't return over weekend.
So close to fledging, yet not , was good to see them all eating well today. ❤
They are going to need more than one are two fish. I hope he starts delivering more...🙏🤞
Did the less aggressive bird get any food?
Yes it did eat well,, still learning to hold fish down with foot to tear off pieces. Those big feet must feel clumsy at first.
I think the reason for Dorcha’s flying in/out of the nest several times was in effort to reach or communicate with Louis. She seemed puzzled as to how the extra filets of fish got on the nest. I can’t imagine how she will feel/react when she sees the empty nest tomorrow 😔💔🙏🏼 @Geemeff will the live cam remain on after the chicks are removed?
Oh my, I had understood they will only translocate the chicks if Louis didn't return over the weekend?
Are they taking them away tomorrow? ❤ 😢
She is very nervous and confused. 😢
hmmm - watching a replay, camera 2 went 'dark' for a spell, then there appeared to be commercially-prepared fish filets in the nest?! Were they dropped in by drone?
Strange things happening there on this day and date. Timestamp 2:22, for example... that pile of fish.
Geemeff always puts details in the description.
This is second time the man from RSPB climbed tree , special permission must be given for any intervention.
Had Louis not returned their were plans for translocation of the chicks this weekend.
It would be preferable for them to fledge from this nest than move them.
Weather has been dreadful with hail & gales all June, I don't know if you know the circumstances is why I help.
@@suzycat2026 Thanks for that info - I was NOT aware that there are people tending to this nest, and not just leaving it 100% to their natural environment to survive.
I've been looking forward to these to 'taking wing' from this view of camera 2.
I wished for that too @@FunsongsMusicByPeterRahill This is a very sad situation, they don't normally intervene & must get special permission.
Tomorrow the chicks are being fed , then being taken away for trans location to Spain with a few other Osprey chicks.
First time this has happened here as far as I know.
Very sad that something appears to be wrong with Louis, perhaps an infection that will pass, I hope.
Tomorrow is going to be emotional, this gives the chicks the best chance, the experts believe.
It has been a hard Season@@FunsongsMusicByPeterRahill tomorrow the chicks being trans located to Spain, via Inverness ❣
Wishing them both the best of luck. 🙏🏻 Hope Louis feels better soon, as he hasn't been himself.
@@FunsongsMusicByPeterRahill my replies are being deleted, I no not why
Oh my goodness Dorcha what are you doing anyone know what's spooking her? The chicks have pancaked so must be something ❤
