    HMT used to be a household name in the 80-90's. Everyone bought and trusted an HMT watch in India. Various government organisations would gift HMT watches to their employees on special occasions and anniversaries. These watches would run decades without any servicing. It's not just a brand, it's an emotion which is difficult to express in words. Fun Fact: HMT not just made watches, it used to manufacture farming tractors, printing machinary, food processing machinery and what not. This brand was the symbol of rising India.

    I have 2 HMT Pilot watches and a Kohinoor. One was $18 were and two $13 USD off eBay with free shipping. They have terrible fake leather straps but the watches are indeed quite charming and do work well. I will definitely wear them often once I get better straps. Cool video!

      Thanks for the kind words. I'll have to say that their straps definitely leave much to be desired, but you can fix that for a relatively small sum

    HMT kohinoor case size: 35.5 mm ,
    Lug to lug: 41.6 mm,
    lug width: 18 mm,
    case thickness : 10.2 mm,
    movement: manual wind 17 jewel Calibre: 0231 derived from citizen,
    power reserve: 40 hr,
    water resistance: 30m

    • @ZviJ1
      @ZviJ1 8 месяцев назад

      Thanks a ton! Until stumbling on your comment I was searching in vain for the power reserve spec. I wonder if it can be wound much beyond it, up to ~45.7 hrs -- like the 7s26 automatic movement.
      On Etsy they claim the case thickness is 8 mm and I always prefer the thinner, but ~10 isn't bad at all.

    I ordered HTM kohinoor and I love it, however I have noticed that most of the HMT watches have small dial size. Can you recommend any vintage HTM watch with around 40+ mm dial size?

    • @massedoesstuff7128
      @massedoesstuff7128  3 года назад +1

      Hey, so generally speaking most vintage watches were hovering around the 33-36mm size for men's pieces as was the fashion standard of the day, this trend really didn't start to change quite a bit later 90's-00's where the sizes actually started getting bigger. There were some jumbo sized offerings from other brands such as Tudor and Omega (for example) but as far as vintage HMT goes I'm at a bit of a loss in terms of trying to find anything from that era 60's-70's that is that size. I'm sorry if that didn't exactly answer your question, but hopefully it helped a little.

    • @facefirst2
      @facefirst2 3 года назад

      @@massedoesstuff7128 Thank You Masse. I totally understand that the fashion standards have changed since 60-70's. I have made my peace with it. Size of dial is an issue of perspective. I took a few days to acclimate to this size, but I would really appreciate if HMT changes with time.

    • @ZviJ1
      @ZviJ1 8 месяцев назад

      @@facefirst2I suspect the chief reason that the case diameter has gotten larger in most companies is that it's easier to service them.
