  • Straight from China via AliExpress, I present to you the FIIO CP13 Portable Stereo Cassette Player. As I am a self-funded channel, I was hesitant about spending $100 on a cassette player. After watching several other reviews for the last couple of months, I was intrigued. Is this player that much better than the other, inexpensive deck currently being sold?
Before creating this episode, I did a lot of listening to both my old and new cassettes, and I was surprised by the playback and sound quality.
While cassette players aren't for everyone, if you are looking to invest in a new deck, this might be the one for you; especially if you're a little reluctant to invest in a used, retro player.

Amazing that there is still a market for portable cassette players like this. The days of having to deal with a noticeable noise floor and not over.

Definitely agree, but it’s nice to see companies try to make a decent player for those that want one.

Not sure if they changed something, but this particular unit actually sounded pretty decent. There is still the "issue" of the bass being too weak, but overall it is actually good, and sounds correct, so no problems with the equalization, unlike the transparent one, which just sounds kinda wrong.

Thanks for watching. Agreed. The less expensive player just sound off in the comparison.

I'd consider one if they knock off about $25. It's basically cheap Chinese manufacturing camouflaged in an aluminum case. More garbage to unload on Ebay in about 6 months.

This is untrue. I own this. It is a piece of garbage. No different than any tanashin-based player.
