So true. They expect the bahut to take all the beatings bcz he is your husband who will change one day with your love and affection. Indian TV serial need to grow up
So true. My every fav show that has good theme in starting turned into family drama. So i stopped watching Hindi serial and switched to anime, that was the best decision of life
I recently went to my friend's house and her niece came running to me. I hugged her and told her that you're so little and cute to which she replied me gori hu isliye sundar hu. She is just 6 years old and I can already say that her family has failed. I can imagine what toxic environment she's growing up in where everyone makes her believe that her beauty is dependent on her skin tone. These little things make a huge difference in future and such tv shows are moulding our future generations mindsets as well. This is so sad.
In a family I know, a 13 year old girl struggles with self-respect. In her own words, "Main to kaali hun, mujhse kaun shaadi karega". I wanted to cry. The irony is that it's usually moms and not dads that objectify their daughters like this.
Omg I remember the time when a 4yr old teased me because I was dark. She told me to drink milk so that I get fair. I can only imagine how her parents are bringing her up.
A 7 year old girl in my neighborhood shows tantrums whenever her mother comes to feed her and shouts-"mummy, aap khila khila k muje apne jaisi moti bhains bana dena chahti ho!" We are surely failing as a society and this is serious.
And zee tv as well , I remember Begusarai and jeet gay to piya moray . In both drama they tortured women emotionally and physically and then most toxic thing was all this torture was actually true love
The worst and most annoying thing about this show is the leading actress keeps on loving the male actor despite his tortures on her. Even after he ruined her face, after that also she repeatedly says she loves him and can't move on. Omkar's brother gave his life to save Mayura from Omkar. But mayura forgot about his brother's sacrifice and still wanted to be with Omkar. Like she loves an abusive husband. She follows the notion "Bura hai bhala hai jaisa v hai, mera pati mera devta hai" 😒
The way Indian television not only normalised but also glorifies toxicity is something that is just beyond the capacity of my brain. On a side note, kudos to you for bearing this absolute shitshow for more than a hundred episodes! just shows your dedication towards your content and viewers. 🙌🏼
its rather crazy on how these shows have a much more rabid stan culture than bollywood heroes and heroines online. Yet, only a few are pointing out its problematic themes
@@TriedRefusedProductions most creators and reviewers overlook television and don't understand the humongous impact it has on such a wide mass of people. i mean it is easily accessible, the daily soaps are telecasted 5 days a week. and what are the viewers being fed with? utter crap like this. and then we expect the people, who are a part of the audiences of such shows, to broaden their horizons or change with the changing times? TV shows in the 90s and even before that were far more evolved.
"Teri khoobsurati kahi kaali na padh jae" Notice how khoobsurat and kaali can't be in the same sentence. These shows are straight up brainwashing the people who are watching it 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

I feel bad for the creators i m convinced they are locked in a basement and fed only 1 cocacola drink and tied to chains so they portray their frustration by writing these orelse this is based on real life and we should call 100 and check.
@@ayushsrivastava1672 seriously they think by adding a description in the start like smoking and tobacco would justify harassment and by showing the hero has struggled a lot by being poor would makes us feel bad for him *oh gareeb theh Kya ?such a sad story 😭😭😭😭*
Am I the only one who found her elder sister a mesmerizing beauty ... Btw....why can't they show a girl supporting other .. ..why it is that the lead heroine is larger than life good and others are just bad! With all these years of Hindi Soaps .....I haven't seen a single serial to portray shades in characters
Man you endured a lot. These poisonous serials have been spoiling the minds of countless women from 50-60 yrs. Virginity test ....I was literally so enraged.
There are so many problematic themes about this - 1. No regard for consent. 2. Women not standing up for themselves or each other, Nor being assertive! It’s sad and frustrating. 3. Promoting insecurity and labelling it as love - it’s not!! 4. Hero is a goon and gets his way through coercion and even murder 😂 5. Inability to accept rejection (I think this is a very important life lesson - handling rejection in a good way ) 6. Lack of self worth on the woman’s part 7. Education not making a mark in your life. Doctor ho kar Corona safety practice na karna is terrible representation of these real life heroes. 8. Showing that once a woman is married she is stuck to the man for life despite all wrong doings and atrocities against her! Why?? We as a society look down upon separation and divorce - it’s high time we let people know that they are not forced to put themselves through hell for the sake of the society. Moving out is an option for your own well being in such situations 9. Physical beauty isn’t all that important in a relationship. People age, people fall sick, they never look the same as they did during their prime. The most beautiful men and women in the world have been cheated on, separated from. I feel sorry for those who watch these shows. What is their take away? What is the writer’s mentality for spewing such shit?
I know these shows are nothing. just a making money, in shittiest way possible. But don't these actor & actress have a soul or moral ethics 😒🤯. I mean how come they agree to do this kind of a tv serials in 2021.
@@jeevanhegde4883 it's just their survival. If they reject it they will replaced within the next few episodes saying 'he/she instead of he/she' and the story will continue without a hitch while the actor will be left untouched by any decent director after that. Not everyone can sacrifice things easily.
Shahadat is best example for men. It's true that such shows should not exist but audience like it , I mean 77% people like it and IMDb 6.4 🤣. Daily soap should not be discrimination between genders but they show women/ men weak at points where they should not be. It is right to stand for women but if it becomes pseudo feminism there will be many Shahadat.
Mayura isn't even actually beautiful. Just fair. But, her sister's got so much beautiful features. I wouldn't blame her sister. I would blame our society. I hate it how they are bringing in the dead stereotype of dark people being bad and fair ones being good.
@@naveens696 correct me if I'm wrong, but she just popularized daily soaps, but none of her content has this level of absurdity and archaicness I think.
I have a father like Omkar. Egoistical, abuser, manipulative and insecure. He was abusive towards my mum only, refused to let her go to work because she was beautiful. However, he treated me like his princess and told me to focus on my studies. Thank God they are now separated, but the damage is done. I don't trust men easily , and if any of them show any red flags similar to my dad, I'm going to run. Believe me or not, my parents had a love marriage.
Been through something similar... though it was Arrange marriage & my mum is not fair skinned or anything.. but hah!!! Wat do i say my dad !!..its just mentality of Sociopaths .. i don't believe in marriages or any kind of companionship

Same..my mom was the most beautifull amongs her siblings and cousins...but my father was so abusiv and insecure and when i was born he got so pissed that she had given birth to a girl child he set her on fire when i was just a yr old..she is 80% burnt but survied...and for me she still is the most beautifull women in the world..but when she looks at her old pics she always breaks down into tears.. and i hate that man for doing this to her..i m so glad my mom throw him out of our lives...and i did not grow up in his presence..
I gave up watching mainstream Indian serials ages before, so I wasn't aware that these serials have touched a new below. Thanks for making this series. İt baffles me as a girl why there aren't enough voices agaist these creepy serials. And why career and education not highlighted as priority and why stalking is equated to romanticism. I applaud your work for pointing out these subjects.
3:24 Jammy, this actually happened with my mom when an arrange marriage alliance came for her elder sister. As a guy and his family before had already rejected my massi because of my Mom as the Guy, in his own words, was "mesmerised by my Mom's fair complexion" and "repulsed" by my Massi's beautiful dusky skin. So when they rejected my Massi and instead sent the alliance for my Mom, my Grandpa, a real feminist and an absolute chad, reprimanded them and I quote, "If y'all are rejecting my elder daughter for this petty reason then you don't deserve anyone's daughter let alone my younger one". So when another family came to see my Massi, my grandma hid my mom in a room(which of course angered my grandad). I wish one day Indians can see beyond the complexion so that we truly evolve as a society.
these things happens irl. My mom's friend was actually worried about her 2 daughter's skin color. Elder is little dusky, the younger one is fair, so she was worried about a guy rejecting the elder one, who is actually my friend. I was like wth. We were in school at time. like wtf.
@Ananya Absolutely!! Whenever I saw an ad of this show, I was like "Stockholm Syndrome at its best". In order to neutralize my anger on the sexism in there, I always ended up reading another M/M fic on AO3 😂
Man really we need to raise our next generation in a correct way... I m dusky n born in fair Brahman family n was bullied every now n then but thanks to my parents who always taught me the real meaning of beauty that is confidence and Education... And yes I can now proudly say m most successful women of the family also obviously m beautiful like everyone else is.
Due to the racist beauty standards of India and the same types of ads many people think only fair skin is beautiful even my parents as they have also been influenced but I am trying to subvert their standards as I told them I can marry any girl as long as she is mentally beautiful as in good natured.
You should do Imli, that one is really problematic, it's about a villigar girl who gets married to a city boy, and the girl has been taught from childhood that her husband is basically her god and is her number 1 priority (even before herself) and the guy brings her into his house as help and then gets married again to his "childhood sweetheart"
@@priyankachoudhury9118 Yes it is, my mom and grandma watch it almost religiously and when I try to explain how messed up it is, they get very defensive of the show. it's crazy to see people who tell me there's so much to life like education and career opportunities and what not and then they go watch shows like these and take no criticism on them, I don't get how people can support these shows when they clearly know better.
My elder sister is very fair and tall, me on the other hand is dusky and short. But I love my skin tone. People and relatives around me have made me feel so insecure about my skin tone since childhood now I am a grown up and don't give a shit about their thoughts
"...but no one ever wears a mask in this show. And they have full on parties and gatherings while giving gyaan about the protocols" I think this is very relatable for many Indian families, where people only give gyaan about the protocols without following them, themselves.
My cousin sister is 5 years old and she once mentioned to me that a character in some show was not beautiful because he was dark ! I asked her weather her mom and her other sister is beautiful or not ! And she said that they are the most beautiful people in her life … then I mentioned but they are dark and she said “ Shit! I never thought about it” . And now she knows that every person is beautiful in their own way and it was that fucking simple! This 5 minute lesson would make her whole life so simple where she won’t judge anyone, won’t fall for these beauty standards and love herself for the way she looks!!❤️
I think the reason why this show's still running is because our audience is absolutely obessed with the 'enemies turned lovers' polt. We've been fed toxicity since childhood and so we just can't get over shits like these. Hey bhagwan, hamari audience ko thora progressive banado plejjj 😭🤲
Enemies turned lovers trope can be showcased in a healthy way, but this is just so bizzare 😭 I hope someone does a wakeup call and mock them with a big platform and the society would ask to boycott these problematic stuff rightfully for once.
Honestly, obsession over beauty could've been a great plot for a psychological drama. Only if they executed it well and which of course, they didn’t -.-
Someone is finally discussing what kind of psychotic and problematic shows are played on our TV screens daily. These shows are actually shaping up a mindset for people who watch and get influenced. They should be strictly banned.
unfortunately these are the shows that get high viewership. have you seen Udaariyaan. here one of the women is a manipulative, toxic lover who cant leave her bf alone. and her bf is married to her sister who saved her family's reputation. yaar is a lot of drama and hell. idk whats the pt of giving a tiny disclaimer at the bottom when there are people like that in society smh

@@siddharthtripathi5806 I am talking about the book. The content. The theme. The animal instinct of humans that normalizes violence for sexual pleasures. As for the movie, it did justice to the content of the book and had the budget and a dedicated team of cinema makers. Not that it is a masterpiece compared to anything but it still touched the minimum level of artistic excellence that is expected from a movie of the budget it had. As for Indian soap operas of today, the budget, the producers, the objective and the team, nothing lines up to have a common goal to achieve anything artistically. They just want the viewership. No point in comparing a big budget Hollywood movie with Indian soap operas. What I was comparing was the fact that these shows get *any* viewership. It just goes to indicate the bigger problem with the mentality of the average viewer. The fact that a book like "Grey" sold huge numbers shows how much the youth lacks sex education. How much the society needs to prioritize humanity over the desires of sexual pleasures. People are surrendering to the hormones totally. Losing the intellect humans developed over the years. The ever growing population numbers coupled with the viewership these shows garner, we can see where the problem is with our people. Sex-ed is the call of the hour. Peace ✌
People : Cancel OTT for NSFW stuff and adult content Also people : let us watch daily soaps that objectify women and normalise obssesion and harassment
This show is so problematic on so many levels and kinda promotes stockholm syndrome. We think these kinda shows do not affect our mentality and thinking, but they actually do. And also Kudos to you for watching such shows.
Exactly...Nowadays most of the Indian serials are released as a motive to eradicate various stereotypes but they end up adding more crap in the mind of older viewers. It isn't common the way they act and potrait indian society on-screen. Just lost hope that we'll have good serials with strong story line.
@@kookoonut9365Exactly. And i see many serials start with a plot that is supposed to break steryotypes or some fresh new story line and then after few episodes here we go back with that same ghisapita storyline.
I happened to find the elder sister prettier than the younger one. Her features are so sharp especially those big eyes. But clearly, her dusky skin means she is not supposed to be perceived as "beautiful".
Younger sister is suitable for child artist's role with her tiny mouth. She reminded me of the comic character Chuhiya from Chidiya Ghar. I was expecting this girl Mayura to talk like her.
Having listened to the story, I don't know how to respond! You know, I'm mad.. What does the series say to us? Normalization of domestic violence? To treat girls as sh**s and they will or they have to forgive? How wrong that is! Ugh! I can't believe these plots are being appreciated by our society.. Instead of defending herself, she falls for this guy?!
you know in the movie, kabir singh actually realised that he has anger issues and needs to do some anger management. and for this reason kabir singh never seemed problematic to me.
@@TheAnkita2310 it's not like he had a redemption arc or anything.. He was like that until the end. And using women to 'fix' toxic men is equally problematic
@@olivagulabjan9 from my pov, preeti was not used to fix kabir. she was just another aspect in his life that got ruined due to his uncontrollabe anger. i think he realised it during his court hearing for medical malpractice and when he ws abt to lose his medical license bcz of that, he volunteered himself for anger management/alcohol deaddiction/ therapy sessions.
@@TheAnkita2310 Its not only about his anger issues. Problem with that movie is the character and things he does as a whole and how it was shown as heroic. He sees one girl and decides he wants her, goes to class and declares she will be his property. That time she was scared of him,so she goes with flow. It is another matter that later she falls in love with him. But he took her choices. It is a serius case of stockholm syndrome. Later when evreything went to downhill, and she was forced to get married , again he went on with his behaviour. But girl left the guy after marriage and waited for hero. Why always girl have to forgive everything? I will ask a simple question, if situation was reverse, if it was a girl who does all the things Kabir does and a guy loved andwaited for the girl, will the movie be such a success ? That just shows the underlying problem with our society.
@@anjur8301 I agree with your last statement. Often in Bollywood if the girl just is the toxic one, she is will never be the main HEROINE. She will be the evil ex who made his life hell and then the HEROINE will change his life.
so in a nutshell, this show GLORIFIES (not just normalizes, but glorifies)- - domestic abuse - obsession to the point where you kill your own brother - fetishizing beauty instead of showing that we must overcome our toxic obsession with outer appearance - non-consensual acts - objectification also, an we talk about how women plotting against each other is shown to be normal here? i don't have a problem with showing internalized misogyny but instead of showing it to be "we must stop doing this" type, they literally portray it like "yeh toh hota rehta hain, adjust kar lo"
Unfortunately society is like this and accepting such s**t. Girls falling for abusive, bad boys not giving any damn abt good and caring ones( happening with me).💔 Beauty being seen only through the color of ur skin and face. Status being measured in terms of caste, money, gender....😔
I am more amazed by the fact that people were going crazy on its ending and trends was planned to stop the show to go off air. They were literally debating about how much this show is educative and progressing.
Thanks jammy for raising your voice against these regressive shows. Indian television still has a long long way to go. Really appreciate your work though Jammy. You literally spoke my mind.
I genuinely feel that Jammy's voice becomes lil bit provocative and enthusiastic while he makes "matlab kuch bhi" or while he make videos calling out problematic seriels. Let all torture keep aside for while but a girl falling love with a guy knowing that he kills his own brother is really terrifying, if u think about it.
Also Ishq par Zor nhi with Kuch rang... These two shows have broken a lot of preconceived notions of Indian society... The typical complicated relationship of a possessive mother, her son and his beloved and how they deal with it alongwith a number of relationships and their misunderstandings... Ishq par Zor nhi explains how a man just wants a homemaker wife for him as he's always taught girls who work have no family values and how his perception towards the men and women difference is changed by a practical and not a typical weeping girl like other shows... The show Katelal and Sons, is a perfect example of how girls and women should stand up and fight for their rights and the theme that no work and dreams have a gender is just commendable... Be it then your family who discriminates between a boy and a girl child and that no work or no profession is inferior... Such shows with such independent and strong themes should be more watched and made rather than the typical saas-bahu drama and stuff like that...
I think you should checkout “Udaariyan” The main hero of the show is cheating on his wife with his sister in law which is also his ex and the wife also trusts him and her sister so blindly. It’s really disturbing and the makers are not stopping.
I used to watch that show with my mom, and I actually liked it in the beginning as it raised awareness on how crazy some people are to get out of India and that they will go to whatever extent needed, like being in a loveless marriage where you basically have to kind of be a slave in a foreign country. But I stopped when the older sister had to marry the younger one's fiancee, but I see my mom watching the recent episodes and it's truly disgusting. I get that the writers might have written the cheating stuff because people prefer the ship of the husband and the sister-in-law more than the wife and her husband but that's no excuse.
@@jasnoorsandhu7516 ikr! What’s surprising is that, the main ship with the husband and the wife is actually more popular than the one with the sister in law so the makers legit didn’t have to do this affair thing at ALLL It’s just so disgusting :/

You’ve talked about a lot of problematic movies and shows, I think you should talk about a show or movie that isn’t problematic and is actually good. May I suggest *"Sumit Sambhal Lega".* I’ve commented about it a lot, because it’s my favourite Indian sitcom. The comedic timing of each of the actors was perfect. The story and writing of the show is so very brilliant. I haven’t watched *"Everybody loves Raymond"* so I don’t know how accurate it is. But in itself, the show is fantastic.
Can we talk about the trope where the modern woman is the made the 'villain' while the meek and timid woman is the 'sansakaari bahu'. What is up with that ! And considering that most of these shows are targeted towards the older generations, you can imagine the way it subconsciously influences their thinking . This needs to stop !
Yes! I am so frustrated with that modern woman as villain trope. Many older people have even warned me of not being like these women as I am working and have other interests than "ghar sansaar". Thanks for pointing that out.
We need to make this video go viral. It's high time our society.. especially young.. understands toxic traits in a relationship. It's disgusting how Indian media glorifies toxic romance.
I’m NOT sorry for quoting Spider-Man but I have to say - with great power comes great responsibility. The entertainment industry in India is huge, in both scale and impact. It has the power of influence a generation of people, a country, the entire world! What kind of message are they imparting to the audience? What were the writers, the directors, the producers, the actors, the camera crew; what were they thinking? Didn’t they feel any kind of moral dilemma being a part of this? This is ABUSE of art at its finest.
You are absolutely right. But the main aim of this,so called entertainment industry is to fill their bank accounts. So they need a very high TRP,which can be only earned by making such trash content. The main reason is that,we audience are watching this shit and boosting their dumb mindset. All this actors working in this ,they know that this drama is trash but, they can't do anything because you have to do what they told you, otherwise u will be removed and end up elsewhere..where as there are thousands of people in line to take place of this actor,so they don't want to take chance, that's a very sad reality😔
The worst thing is that people in comment section justify omkar's actions by saying Mayura never liked her beauty and omkar snatched her beauty so she should forgive him and start a lovey-dovey life with him... Indian audience romanticized this abuse
@Deepshikha Thakur funny... When I commented on some stupid scenes people started to troll me in comment section saying " if you don't like then don't watch ". People actually like these kind of shit abuse 😑😒
Yes I have seen its trailer once in colors insta & seriously wrote this show should be banned for legalizsing & romanticising domestic violence , face destruction . Fans got aggressive . This shows the level of ,maturity of people.
And the worst part.... When I saw this serial first I was like this will turn out on women empowerment and all but due to bad makers and very bad female lead.... Male lead got priority and I saw the whole comment section either simping for omkar or calling him savage..... At that point I left the show knowing ki Colors Veiwers can never change

It's been a decade I set my eye's on indian television shows. So lacking so insane that people could literally go on mental shock. No wonder today's choice of people in political and social system reflects this impudence.
You know I have problems with a LOT of indian television shows. Even when I was a kid, I used to ask a lot of questions on how problematic they were. Like, why a girl wearing shorts and putting her dreams over marriage was considered bad? Why the seemingly 'GOOD' girls and women were always supposed to wear sarees and suits? I mean, not that suits are bad, but they don't even give a choice to the 'Bahus' of their house. An 18 year old getting married. Why? Because she had no 'MAN' to look after her. But she is going to become a doctor, she'll live in the hostel, earn a scholarship and do a part time job- That would be any SANE solution. She's independent even if she is 18. But no! A MAN is important! Kyuki you know, samaj kya kahega. Why are women in all the indian television shows portrayed as literal GODESSES? I mean, they are humans too, they are not 'effin sacrificing machines! You know, I find a show called IMLIE really problematic too.

These problematic shows can run for years and shows like Ishk Par Zor Nahi, which is actually addressing the social issues like Body Shaming, Victim Shaming, Domestic Violence etc is getting off aired because of TRP in just 5 months. It's the audience who give the channels the liberty to make such pathetic shows when they don't watch good shows but the old saas-bahu dramas or these problematic ones. IPZN felt like a breathe of fresh air in ITV with such amazing concept of clash of ideologies (1921 Vs 2021) and an amazing cast with a bit of comedy, drama, social issues and everything but sadly Sony TV cancelled the extension in the last moment because of KBC. Anyway, it has covered so many things in just 100 episodes which no other show has portrayed till now but now moving towards a rushed end to the show.. :(
You are absolutely right Smriti. IPZN is a wonderful show with talented , hardworking and sincere people which does not deserve the treatment it got from the channel. I dont watch Indian serials much because of their regressive, low quality content but IPZN is different. It was definitely like a breath of fresh air
I feel it's not a bad thing at all. If such a trend of wrapping up shows at 100-200 episodes emerge we might see some actual good content with proper story instead of same old cliches being recycled for 1000 episodes coz good TRP. It also makes the show binge-worthy and episodes having proper content than just cliffhanger fillers and effects.
IPZN is a good show but the message most young girls take from that show is problematic. The male lead in that show is extremely problematic and needs therapy but the fans of the show, especially young girls, love him and see no flaws in his character. They are obsessed with the idea of toxic relationships and can't see beyond that. Its so normalised that this is how they perceive relationships because of all the cringe tv shows they have grown up watching.
You know it would have been a lot better if they showed her fighting against domestic violence. But noooo. Shadi ka pavitra rishta and all that crap. A women should always try to save her marriage after all nah.
Why isn't She leaving?? Because in the forthcoming episodes may be in a or half a year Omkaar will understand Mayura and starts to LOVE her truly.. And Mayura will also START to Love Omkaar... At least years of watching Indian Tv Serials.. I know this is the shit going to Happen... Finale with Mayura and Omkaars Children Smiling at Us.
Bread and butter.. they're fully aware of the crap but ultimately they need to feed themselves and so keep mum.. money in Hindi tv industry is not bad.. perday minimum 20K to 40 K (even more for established actress like hina khan) based on the popularity of the show/actors etc
T.V actors never think about the content because they know that mos t.v serials are crap so they never reject any offer, they are always ready to do what they get, they never miss any opportunity because, in the end, they have to earn.
The quality of indian television will only improve if they are aired once or twice in a week (like all 90s shows). Even tv shows with good concept ditoriates because they are unnessesary stretched for daily viewing episodes.
So u say stupid shows like naagin which are aired in weekends are good? Bro i understand u but the time doesn't matter it's all about the writers and the quality which is rare in Indian tv shows

When Jammy was explaining the show, I was like this a great premise, a revenge story based on the obsession to beauty that leads to a great psychological crime drama. It would have been great when we would have seen her tormenting the Husband for all the horrors he has committed, but then the stockholmes syndrome bullshit happens and I am like what the hell, you have a premise goin on show it like a 5 or 6 episode long crime Drama, but they had to ruin it with this 200 Epsiodes long garbage.
@@kattibattisonachamak575 actually nope, Naagin is more like Sasural Simar Ka without Steroids, but if they make it something likr Gone Girl, I would call it similar to Out Of Love rather than Naagin, if they had actually gone that route rather than this her Falling in Love with her Husband shit
@@Parthivigupta Damn Beyhadd was something that I genuinely remember enjoying, the main Character was a Classic Yandere and the entire show felt genuinely Intresting with How everyone was getting Manipulated and even if they knew the sheer fear pf Maya as an Antagonist focused completely on her one singular goal but later on after maybe her 1 st death and there second time skip it just lost it's charm, the characters were completely switched and it just became boring and felt like two different disconnected stories were being told, and later on the Season 2 was just a completely different thing then the Original which just tried to capture the same magic but failed
Yeah you're are right. Most Wattpad romantic stories are just toxic relationships and nothing. Talking about the serial, I thought that this serial will show us the reality of toxic beauty standards and how women suffer because of it but it truly disappointed me.
Lol lucky I'm as never watched this crap & yes this serial somewhere inspired from Chinese novels which glorify toxic relationship, abuses & harrasment on female lead.
First of all, Jammy...props to you for enduring this hell...now, as a 90s kid, I have had my fair dose of indian daily soaps and honestly, as much as I hate those, they have also taught me really good things...But, lately, the content of these soap operas genuinely concerns me (ofc I am no more a part of their audience) as to what mindset the men and women and esp. kids are exposed to on TV since as a matter of fact, a major chunk of our society still gets their entertainment dose from the TV. I don't understand what is this infatuation with portraying women as 'Tyaag ki Murat' in all these shows...I mean there is sth. called self-worth and one cannot just overlook everything. And if not worse, this is just cultivating highly toxic standards for young women to meet upto. Personally, I think the main problem lies with the makers (although they are not the only one to be blamed) who still think this is what today's society enjoys because I have relatives and people who are not okay with such content but still resort to watching it coz TV is their major (for some, the only) source of entertainment after a hectic day. Idk, as opposed to evolving with time, Indian TV has only degraded where the race is all about TRPs than good storytelling... Anyways, love this TRP though.
Really true, at least our movies try to serve new content, on one hand producer like Ekta kapoor make movies like lipstick under my burka, that makes an attempted at addressing suppression of women, but on the other hand she normalise and glorifies murderous acts in tv shows like Kumkum Bhagya and kundali Bhagya.
@@marshadesouza7977 Yeah definitely. Smoking, drinking and having sex with multiple partners will address the 'suppression' of women in this patriachal society

Man you endured a lot. These poisonous serials have been spoiling the minds of countless women from 50-60 yrs. Virginity test ....I was literally so enraged.
There are so many problematic themes about this -
1. No regard for consent.
2. Women not standing up for themselves or each other, Nor being assertive! It’s sad and frustrating.
3. Promoting insecurity and labelling it as love - it’s not!!
4. Hero is a goon and gets his way through coercion and even murder 😂
5. Inability to accept rejection (I think this is a very important life lesson - handling rejection in a good way )
6. Lack of self worth on the woman’s part
Moving out is an option for your own well being in such situations

So when they rejected my Massi and instead sent the alliance for my Mom, my Grandpa, a real feminist and an absolute chad, reprimanded them and I quote, "If y'all are rejecting my elder daughter for this petty reason then you don't deserve anyone's daughter let alone my younger one". If 50 shades of grey is the best selling novel of all time after the Harry Potter series, I don't expect the show to end any sooner.
Compared to Indian soaps, 50 shades of grey is masterpiece.
@@siddharthtripathi5806
I am talking about the book.
Peace ✌
I totally agree
50 shades of grey is WHAT
@@soscarlettitwasss I said compared to Indian soaps, not that it is great in itself.

I agree...
Younger sister is suitable for child artist's role with her tiny mouth. She reminded me of the comic character Chuhiya from Chidiya Ghar. I was expecting this girl Mayura to talk like her.
+1 , younger sister looks like a child
@I'm a parasite on giant rock. Then what's the problem? She was pretty
I think both of them look equally beautiful 😊😊😊
Having listened to the story, I don't know how to respond! You know, I'm mad.. What does the series say to us? Normalization of domestic violence? To treat girls as sh**s and they will or they have to forgive? How wrong that is! Ugh! I can't believe these plots are being appreciated by our society.. Instead of defending herself, she falls for this guy?!
Jammy's face while reacting is like - "why are we here ..... Just to suffer " 😂

Kabir Singh looks like a saint in front of this psychopath of a hero.
you know in the movie, kabir singh actually realised that he has anger issues and needs to do some anger management. and for this reason kabir singh never seemed problematic to me.
She will be the evil ex who made his life hell and then the HEROINE will change his life.
so in a nutshell, this show GLORIFIES (not just normalizes, but glorifies)-
- domestic abuse
- obsession to the point where you kill your own brother
- fetishizing beauty instead of showing that we must overcome our toxic obsession with outer appearance
- non-consensual acts
- objectification
also, an we talk about how women plotting against each other is shown to be normal here? i don't have a problem with showing internalized misogyny but instead of showing it to be "we must stop doing this" type, they literally portray it like "yeh toh hota rehta hain, adjust kar lo"
+ Stockholm syndrome :'3

Smoking, drinking and having sex with multiple partners will address the 'suppression' of women in this patriachal society
i live in nepal and indian serials are very popular here and its sad.
Hats off to you...itna dekh kese paye tum. This man deserves an award for this 😄
This hurts my heart. Sadism is the main theme. How fcking romantic 😿
1 I don't think TV serials are taken seriously and that's why they've disclaimer in beginning
2 Indian females aren't this dum, this story is portraying maybe one in million girl who does these things for anyone who has committed DV
3 Indian judiciary already has 498A and many other laws which are being misused HEAVILY (yes look at stats) by females.
4 Don't act SJW for a fictitious serial, you know Indian females aren't "sanskari' at all. (Neither are boys)
5 Stop being a "civilized english speaking simp". I bet you won't talk about feminizt pandering in TV shows or harassment of men emotionally and legally.
6 In 21st century, and looking at comment, you can hardly tell any girl is as sanskari as is portrayed in Tv shows.
@@Crymeareva @Nomadic Tribe
I learnt something from you: how to ASSUME. I don't know which language you speak so lets assume it's Hindi.
1. What you think isn't the a fact. It's an opinion. I've come in contact with people who are influenced by such dramas by different degrees.
2. Well, are you an Indian female? Why does this seem that you aren't much aware about Indian females. Females, in general, are expected to do as what others wish. Sacrifice everything, feel as much pain as they want. Why? Coz they're females.
3. Oh my god. Is it like that? Honestly, it's not a good thing. I'm disappointed and sad that females are misusing the laws made to protect them. But BUT does this make the crimes a man does non existent? Or do you only care about females supposed crimes and forget about others'?
4." Indian females aren't sanskari at all. (Neither are guys) " How scandalous! I don't understand what this sentence is supposed to mean? Should Indian females be sanskari. As far as I know, I've seen both males and females, being sanskari as well as non sanskari. Should this make a difference in the way they should be treated? I mean, yes, I drink and smoke and wear jeans, does this make me disrespectful? Honestly, I'm just assuming you're saying this coz i can't really understand what exactly you mean.
5. Well, well, there you go, assuming things. My goodness, go ahead and assume. Would you believe it if I'd say that I do care? But, why would you when you can say that I'm faking it, why? Because i wanna be a femanazi. Right. You're absolutely right. 😂
6. Do you just look at the comments and assume? Why don't you read the news? Or do you just read the news which interests you?" Oh feminists are femanazis" ? That? Oh I'm just assuming that you don't watch news, because if you did, you wouldn't be able to put this argument.
And also, its ridiculous to see that you're just talking about being sanskari. What exactly does this mean? As far as i've heard people using this term is for the people who listen to everything that the elders, or basically, others say. I don't think it has any relation (atleast now) with being respectful. It's supposed to mean that you are respectful and follow good values, but of course, it's definition has taken a different turn. We all know that.
Also, are you defending this guy's actions? Why does my comment infuriate you?
इससे मेरे दिल को ठेस पहुंचती है। परपीड़न मुख्य विषय है। कितना कमबख्त रोमांटिक है।
@@tan_ishka on the point and the most perfect reply i ever read .

4. No comment.
5. How's speaking civilized English making her a simp? I don't understand. The content of what she says has nothing to do with her grammar, punctuation or spelling.
6. There are girls that are still "sanskari" in the world; just not too many of them around. Maybe don't generalise all females next time.
Thank you, next.
