Thanks. I have a Rode Procaster which is nearly as hungry as the SM7B. Use am SE Dynamite on my interface (64db native gain) for an additional 28db. So a total of 92db of gain. The Rode wants 55-60db of gain… good to hear the Zoom F3 handles it easily.
Super helpful, thanks for uploading this. I already have Fetheads for my RE320 but good to know the pre-amps in the F3 can handle gain hungry mics without boosting.
I mean, it sounds insanely good. And for a non treated room is almost professional radio quality. I am a proud owner of the zoom f3 (what a beast) and thinking about the sm7b. By the way, may I ask about the arm? Which one are you using? And the orangeish.. holder at the botton of the mic/arm? It looks really different! New subscriber !
It is actually a $20 boom from Amazon. I was super surprised it can hold this mic. I have used the boom arm for 3 years now and it has never even lost its tension. The XLR cable is a Pro Co one that you can buy in color. My room is 100% not treated. I use a downward expander gate. 95% of the time I am talking over music so any room noise really is never heard. If I felt I needed room treatment, I would have it.
I’ve got a mic pre I use on the mic that has a gate/downward expander for my typical use other than this experiment. Very little room noise with that. I do voice overs and have a nice walk in closet for that. I appreciate ya watching and hope the info helped :)
Hey thanks for this video. I just had 2 SM7B's delivered and connected to the F3. I was pretty shocked to see that I needed to go all the way up to the max gain (x1024) to make it sound decent. I also have a Sennheiser 416 and it only needs to be at x32. Can someone help me understand how it could be that different?
Thank you very much for uploading this.
I've been on RUclips all day searching for this answer, and now I can confidently buy the Zoom F3
Thanks for the feedback!
@@planetzlive You're absolutely welcome
You've saved me a lot of headache🙏🙏
Found this video while researching the F3. Very informative. 🙌
👍🏻🤣
thank you for uploading this is what i exactly needed
Awesome! Glad this helped your decision making process.
Google almost that exact question, except I have the SM7DB, so it sounds like I will be good to go. Thanks for posting.
Yeah, should be good!

@@lwinaus8810 yeah I keep the gain at factory settings and just boost it in post. Zero issues with the noise floor.
Thanks!
Thanks for the upload
@@iamvolts13 sure! Hope it helps!

@@MichaelDooney yeah it does great! I just leave it at the factory setting and boost it in post. Zero noise floor as it’s 32-bit!
Useful information. Thanks for uploading!

Thank you this was the video I've been looking for. Plus I wanted to know the presets
@@thenailauthority cool man! No presets! Just plugged the mic in.
Hey, thanks a lot!
Yeah 😃
You need some room treatment (as a radio station studio) :) But thanks for this sharing. I was looking for this information.

@@TrondheimStudios I left my input lower to get less room noise. Also, the SM7B is a dynamic mic and the 416 is a Condenser.
YOU HAVE A GREAT RADIO VOICE, I AM IMPRESSED, I REALLY LIKE THE ZOOM F 3 I HAVE 2, HOW CAN I RECEIVE YOU BROADCAST. SALUDOS 🎉
