WOW that is a gorgeous warp. Another good hardware store item are nuts and bolts. I use them for replacement threads when a warp breaks. Just wind a length of yarn around the bold and secure it with a half hitch. If you use a large bolt the weight of the bolt plus nut will tension the thread perfectly.
Just found your lovely video while searching with a question. Can you tell me, your loom has non removeable supports at the center top of each shaft, as does mine, a Mightly Wolf. Does this mean that you must count exactly how many heddles you need to the right of the support on each shaft, when threading from right to left? I'm used to just pushing all the heddles to the left, then threading from right to left without planning exactly how many I will need on each half of the shaft but you can't do that on this type of Schacht loom, is that correct?
You can unclip the heddle bars on the top and the bottom to slide heddles from side to side! It should be the same on the Mighty Wolf also. The clips are spring loaded and I usually leave the heddle bars loose until I’m both threaded and sleyed.
Let me watch it in a bit and see if I can figure out the weft color. Usually I do charcoal, black, or navy. The warp is 8/2 Maurice Brassard cotton, 24 ends per inch. I’m at work but can try to check more details when I get home!
I have a Schacht Standard 8 shaft also - a model from probably the late 1980's. Do you have a sectional beam on there? Did you install it or was it already there? Are there any big advantages to it? I LOVE the warp colors you've chosen. Gorgeous work!
This was a 4-now-4-later and I installed the extra four shafts, plus two sectional beams. I rarely use both beams at once. I love having a sectional beam because I can measure with my AVL warping wheel
i’m getting a new standard this week with a sectional beam. did you need to assemble your loom or was it minor assembly out of the box? i have a baby wolf and wolf pup - easy to set up-but this looks like it will be a little more complicated.
@@dreamweaverattheloom I got this loom used, so I’m not sure about building it from scratch! I have managed to assemble an AVL production dobby loom and it was functional, so I bet you can do this!!
@@dreamweaverattheloom Hi... I have a baby wolf and have ordered the pup. (it was ordered the second week in July....anxious to get it) Now I am trying to decide whether to get the standard loom or mighty wolf..... So by now you have your floor loom..... Can you share your thoughts ? I love the baby wolf and I know I will love the pup..... I just don't want to be disappointed with the floor loom. It sounded really noisy with the metal heddles. My sales person said I could order with teksolv heddles. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I realize this is late but will you share your warp and weft fiber, colors and details of this project?
