I've heard a lot of "depression stories," and almost never connect to the descriptions. So many of them sound like simply being bummed out for a while or going through a transition with work, relationships, etc. This one hit home. I'm glad he was in a place in life where he had his son to live for in those moments. I'm not envious of much, but I do find myself wishing sometimes I was necessary to something or someone. That's a powerful tool if you can use it. It's one isolation can rob from you before you realize the utility of it, so be careful out there.

Pat Mac reminds me of a bad ass Macho Man Randy Savage. But even more badass because Pat Mac is the real deal.

It's incredibly empowering that even an absolute first class badass talks about struggling with mental health

What Pat said about the 4:10 mark is spot on. There are some days I feel like really getting after it in the gym but on the days that I don't, I at least try to get in a brisk walk and just let myself get lost in what is around me during the walk. I feel so much mentally lighter afterwards if that makes sense.

Yes definitely Matt that makes total sense. There’s nothing more important than at least doing something on those days that you don’t want to do anything!! Keep it up brother!

Great information as always! I have just retired and it is taking getting use to from be operational to being retired. For your workouts how and when do you program down time or off time for you body and mind.
