Universal TV, known as Universal Channel until July 2, 2018, is a German-language specialty channel. The channel is operated by NBC Universal Global Networks Deutschland GmbH, based in Unterföhring.
Universal TV was founded on September 5, 2013 and began broadcasting in HD and SD quality. Today, Universal TV is one of the few pay-TV channels on all relevant platforms and reaches over 4 million households in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The program window consists of a mixture of feature films and series, with the latter making up the majority of the program. The channel's prime time starts at 9 p.m. and is filled with exclusive first broadcasts, among other things. In addition to series already broadcast on other channels, German-language first broadcasts are also offered.
Some of the most well-known series on Universal TV are “Chicago Fire”, “Chicago Med” and "Suits". In addition, the channel offers a variety of films, including “Dirty Dancing,” “Everest,” “Shrek,” and “Super 8.”
