How does this compare with the mt-34 if I'm going to use a smart phone most of the time?

This one doesn't have a built-in smartphone clamp, so the MT-34 would be a much better choice.

Sweet and short.... straight to the point. I'm using Sony ZV-1 in a Ulanzi UURig cage and that's one of the reasons why i ordered this tripod. It seems very practical especially with how the pole can extend. Now I'll be able to take my cropped-in shorts because of the active stabilisation, worry-free in selfie mode.

It's a nice product! But I end up holding it vertically with my Canon M50, so I don't really get the extra distance. Just extra height.

Yes, you need a phone clamp. But Ulanzi has another model with a clamp built in. I covered it here: ruclips.net/video/8cG1EVhRJgw/видео.html

On this model you can't do that, no. I'm actually working on a video about another tripod I bought that has this feature.
