In this video we make a pneumatic power hammer. The power hammers weight is 14 kg (31 Ib).
I was very surprised how fast the hammer could move hot steel. I believe this power hammer would be a great addition to a blade smiths workshop, so let me know if you would be interested in me make one for you.
    Thansk for watching

VERY NICE welding!!! The BEST I've seen in a LOOOOONG time!

That power controller is taking quite a beating and can't last long. I would mount it separate from the hammer. Nice work, far better than all these crazy tire and leaf spring concoctions.

I was blinded by your welding, your whole movie was welded

Spray Transfer MIG Welding is such an efficient process, and it leaves a pretty decent looking bead also.
That little beast can really move some steel, would have been cleaner work had it been bolted to the floor
    Impressive work none the less.
In future you should look at dove-tailing the Dies the anvil post and the ram and making a set of shims to
hold them in place, it would take about a half hour or less of extra work on your mill and about 10 minutes
at the forge for the shims (I use H-14 Air Hardening/Hot-Work Steel for the dies and Forklift Tine for the
Shims.) For the pins and tails of the joint, and the shims it takes me roughly 25-45 minutes all in all.
That is if my shoulder is cooperating ;-)
As an added bonus you wont have to worry about nuts and bolts coming loose... or pins shearing off from repeated
strikes... which really is Not a good time any way you look at it.

How many CFM does it take to run? I thought about doing one like this before as its a pretty simple idea but it takes a lot more air to run than I have available. I think it might be cheaper for me to do a press first just because of the cost of a large compressor. Very nice job on the build.

No shit, that's why there was a music over lay, because the 100,000+CFM compressor was running the whole fucking time.

@@PTcruser65 why such a dick man. It was a simple question how much cfm. No shit I realize it takes a lot and his compressorwas running. Thats why I asked how much. No reason to be a smart ass when you haven't got a clue the answer.

Looks really well made but it's wobbly. Maybe add 2 triangles at the back of the plate for some rigidity

Yeah I know, it was a custom order for a costumer, so It didn’t make sense to secure it to the floor when it had to be shipped the same day

Nice work.. fill some empty square tubes of the hammer with concrete to give the hammer some more stability of weight ..

Man I feel your pain ....I’ve built all kinds of hammers and presses till I found the design and weight I wanted
I feel this was another waste of time like when I built a 7 ton press and had to upsize the pump for more smashing power
Clean welds and great fab work my friend but I bet you’ll be making a bigger one next 🤦🏻‍♂️👊✌️ (all learning)

If you secure the anvil you'll get a lot harder hit out of each blow. Maybe just weld it to a plate that you stand on

Actually there is one huy who build a power hammer like yours but it can also do soft strokes depending on how much he pushes the pedal.
The video also includes a plan for the pneumatics.
