Toni Constantinescu was the brainchild behind the Brecon Jazz Festival, he put his lifelong passion for Jazz into providing a festival for music aficionados and locals alike, along with his friends Liz, Jean, Tony and the original committee. Its a bit sad for Breconians to see him almost sidelined like this. It was Toni who was friends with George Melly (they lived next door to each other in Hampstead in the early 70's). Its such a shame that Toni Constantinescu wasn't approached as that would have added true authenticity about the origins of the festival.
Hi Nonny Bear, the interview was the memories of Jean Hosie who had come forward to be interviewed & we would welcome Tony to do an interview with his recollections about the early days as well. As you obviously know him, would you like to ask him and also be involved with recording his story? Please email us at breconstory@gmail.com or drop in to one of our weekly sessions which are at The Vaults, Market St in Brecon every Wednesday 5pm to 6.30pm - Kind regards, Julia - Brecon Story
