  • This week, Dusty gives an update on his leaf collection, Brian shares stories of awkward celebrity interactions, and Aaron tells the guys about a man who fell in love with an octopus. Then, the guys get into the holiday season by talking about bathrooms. They learn about the history of the toilet, discuss the proper way to hang toilet paper, and debate whether it's rude to take your phone to the bathroom.

I have a bat house, Dusty ...I love when it's starts to get dark, and they come flying out and gobble up the mosquitos..And, as a mail carrier, I can tell you they like to sleep inside of the lock boxes(the mail box you open with a key).. They crawl in the outgoing mail slot. I've had 3 different instances were I grabbed outgoing mail, not realizing a bat was hiding between or under the letters, and then felt something moving, and a bat flies out of my hands... I've also had them just fly out when I open the mailbox. They scare me every single time, but I haven't gotten bitten yet . Knock on wood.. Oh, and my mail route is in a regular neighborhood, town homes, in fact, with sidewalks.... I'm wondering if the other guys ever walk outside at dusk, and look around. 😂 they might be surprised that bats are pretty much everywhere🤭

I am so excited and so happy that Bathrooms is the topic! Thanks Brian! I wasn’t sure if my message had been seen or read so I’m friggin jumping for joy 😂😂😂😂

First of all, I want to say I loved seeing Dusty in Bowling Green. Dusty is definitely ready for theatres. I also want to tell all of you that I completely understand forgetting people. I have been teaching high school for 27 years. Occasionally, a former student will come up to me in public. I will have no idea who this student is even though I spent a whole year with this person. The student will tell a story and I will act like I remember, but I am clueless. Love all of you even if I forget you.

This blew my mind. Recently, we came across Mama’s Family on TV and I showed my 12 year old daughter. She loves it. As I was listening to the podcast, Nate started talking about Mama’s Family while my husband and daughter were watching Mama’s Family. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the toilet paper episode. Love those random coincidences. Happy Thanksgiving, Folks!

Dusty. I feel you on cul-de-sac life. My street is a cul-de-sac at both ends like a T with single street providing access. I work from home so I see my neighbors come and go all day. I also see the random car drive down our street so I often go out on the porch to "observe" them until they exit. Most of the time they are a neighbor's guest but quite often they go to the end, turn around and leave. I like them to know they are being watched.

On the topic of “how’s your year been?”… I’ve used “How’s work going?” for the longest and it works every time for a conversation starter. Just recently I asked an old friend and he got visibly and audibly upset and said that he had surgery 6 months ago and has been out of work since, acting like I should’ve known all of this. So yeah… no longer my go-to. Maybe I’ll start using this. 😂

1:10:50 The discussion about which sport each person could pull off playing at a high level has been great to follow. Brian’s “cutoff jeans” comment, referring to what Dusty would wear to swim, was such an underrated and hilarious response as it would not have been all that surprising if Dusty did do that. It made me think of Nate’s “Lake Beach” skit from SNL where they were in fact wearing cutoff jeans at the lake. Hilarious episode overall!

Bat houses are a wonderful, safe way to get rid of a mosquito problem. Re Bat House: I live in the outer outer suburbs of Montreal, our lots are about an acre with lots of trees. We have a lot of mosquitoes. People are always asking about Bat Houses on our local Facebook community pages. They seem to be quite popular, at least “the idea” of them.
But I’m paranoid about them, because I still remember when an exterminator came to our house for mice once, and he had this “sliding scale” chart of pest extermination. On the cheapest side were mice and ants, then you had bees, squirrels and rats, then at the most expensive end, at a whopping 6000$ (15 years ago) were bats. I asked why it cost so much to remove bats. He told me that their poo is toxic. It even has a special name “Guano”, and it takes a team of guys, in space suits, to go in and remove it with special disinfectant, following strict regulations. I told him “I hope I never have bats”.
I always wonder if for any of these enthusiastic bat house owners, the bats they’re welcoming think, this “bat house” is cool…but THAT house, the “human house” would make a REALLY great bat house.

Hello Folks! I love this podcast! It gives me refreshing nostalgia from the 90's when HBO use to show all kinds of stand up specials and would highlight routines from comedy clubs all over the country. I like how y'all reference comics of yesterday & today, and explain so many aspects & elements of the art & skill involved in doing this kind of work. Thanks for sharing news of that comedy museum - it looks neat - I'd definitely check it out.
Regarding bathrooms... 1st off, as a woman, I giggled at "bathroom etiquette" - Listen, I've met some of the nicest ladies while standing in line to use the restroom; also while in line, if something funny happens there's often shared laughter & occasional jokes (it's a real bonding/silver lining moment, if you will). 2nd, in Europe, you occasionally find co-ed bathrooms (awkward) and sometimes have to "pay to potty". Lastly, the award for the absolute BEST public restrooms must go to Buccees - theirs are the cleanest, hands down! Thanks for the laughs, fellas! - Nicki in Texas (aka, "Common Folk")

When I was in college I cleaned the buildings on campus to pay my way through school. We replaced the toilet paper THE LEAST in the very first stall (closest to the door). The stall was generally the cleanest and obviously the least used (proof in how long the toilet paper lasted). For the past 20 years now I will ALWAYS go to the first stall. Only Nateland would do the Thanksgiving episode on Bathrooms instead of anything more relevant to the current Holiday. Never change boys

They made a movie about that kidnapping. And an episode of Walker Texas Ranger. The kids and bus driver escaped from the bus and walked out of the quarry.

Montrealer here. Quebec is the only Francophone province, New Brunswick is the only bilingual province. Every other province is English. Manitoba has small enclaves of franco-manitobans, Ontario has small towns on the border with Quebec that are mostly francophone, but there are few francophones West of the Ontario border. Quebec almost tried to leave Canada twice (1980 and 1995), and the fact that we try to make announcements in both languages, on airplanes even in the rest of Canada, is almost a « see, we care about you Quebec, we make announcements in French, even in contexts where there are no French speaking people, save for Guy in row 39 seat A (Guy is a French guy’s name…pronounced Gee with a hard G….but it also means Guy in English» gesture.

The peacock is the male peacock, the female peacock is called the peahen. I think you can see the descriptive word that tells you which one is the mail.

Toilets was a home run. Very funny topic. What do Nate and crew think about bathroom attendants? When I was in high school I used a restaurant bathroom with an attendant, and it blew my mind. I could wrap my head around a person handing out towels in a public restroom.

I was a restaurant manager for 12 years. The company I worked for had required sanitation training where hand washing was a big deal. Unlike sanitizer alone, the running water rinses substances off your hand. This is especially important because 9 out of 10 people suffer from TPPT (toilet paper poke through) and unknowingly have unwanted substances on their hands 😂 💩

Let me tell you something. I am the same age as Bungee Cord and probably earn less and I bought a $25 bidet attachment off Amazon about 8 or 9 years ago and it changed my whole outlook on going to the ol’ WC. They are amazing. Last year I received a nice bonus so I splurged on a real nice one that I needed to run power and add an outlet for. If my legs didn’t fall asleep, I’d bring a desk on wheels in there with me. They are amazing and you don’t have to be coming from old money!

I love how there is a discussion about trustworthiness increases with less distraction on the face and politicians typically don't have beards because you tend to trust somebody more with a clear face. Meanwhile, there was a president with one of his most defining characteristics was his beard and he was given the moniker of "honest" Abe.

Dusty, I felt so guilty listening to last week’s episode while cleaning up my yard. I bagged 28 bags of leaves and left them out at the road. Guess I don’t have a local Dusty since the city ended up picking up all 28 bags this week.

One of my saddest failures was putting up an owl house that only attracted starlings and sparrows. I spent all of my time climbing a ladder to clean out the junk the sparrows and starlings gathered. Never saw an owl. The bat house might have been your better option, Dusty, at least based on my experience.
