The Doors channel is the official RUclips home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.
As a Canadian who's a fan of both The Doors & Kids In The Hall, i've been waiting years for this to happen.
Jeff Alulis author of "Set the night on Fire" put this together...really one of the best writers in rock today
Same here brother 🇨🇦👊
And waiting for the sun.
Ditto!
As an American and Doors fan, I agree.❤
Seeing him smile just makes it so much special. For me The Doors, it’s one of them legendary rock’n roll band that ever existed. Couldn’t be more grateful to see this on RUclips
This is so cool and wholesome at the same time. To see one of my heros react to one of my favourite comedic ensembles is just “cosmic”. Thank you so much for this.
One of the best skits ever
Love you Robby 💖💖💖
The Doors fans of that day policed their catalog with a vengeance. Many would be considered "hipsters" by today's standards. They were very snobbish, and would even take the band to task for releasing great singles like, "Hello, I love You." You see, at the time, the youth believed they were experiencing a never-ending cultural revolution, and when it didn't last, and the plans never came together, they took it out on the Doors. This skit is simply an aged version of the early Doors fan stereotype. You basically had to be intellectually "jumped in" by the fanbase in order to be taken seriously.
Always liked- Love Her Madly! (ending as the tv cleaner commercial..stronger than dirt) Light my Fire..a fav since a child.
This was gold.
Morrison gold man!!!!!
REALMENTE ROBBY ES UN GRANDE EN LA GUITARRA UN MAESTRO ES BUENO QUE SEA FELIZ ESTE IDOLO
I got ad for quality doors before this!
The internet makes it possible for us to see our cultural heroes in a way never before possible. How cool is that?!
Amazing!
Time machine.
@Laughing At You what's so funny?
agreed, rest sucks kinda
@@joshrich6814 guy makes an anonymous account called "laughing at you" and then trolls people because his life is so abjectly pathetic that this is how he spends his time. Trolling strangers.
I remember when Robby and John reunited for a show to help the homeless in CA. They're two real ones.
Epic
"Waiting for the Sun" was my first Doors album, and I played that tape in my car every day at sunset, and can confirm that was the correct way in.
Your experience only counts if it was a stolen car!!! 😂
"Waiting for you to..hear my song"
"Love her madly will be the only Doors song you DON'T like! (Inside, Robby was a little hurt at that joke ;-) )
Probably not hurt at all. I love that song!
There’s some truth to that statement.
I'd figure it would be light my fire as it was played to absolute death.
@@Oldbmwr100rs Exactly
Love her Madly is a great track. I think the guy said that maybe cause it wasn't one of Jim's & it's on the last album. Something like that anyway. Plus it was a single. I suppose if you ask a true Doors fan what their fav song is they shouldn't pick a hit song, you know
I love Robby. He doesn't take himself too seriously at all 💗🌵⛈️🌪️🏇
oh he is great....
Robbie is like Ringo - perfect for the band; unique on his instrument; grossly underrated.
@@mrinalkundu1521 Agreed!
He's always cool, down to earth, a great guitarist, + wrote Light My Fire +
@@mrinalkundu1521 I don't know id he's underrated, all the people I know into the Doors think he's great.
I get alot of slack for this comment. But I like The Doors way more than Zeppelin. Something about The Doors that just hits me everytime I listen to them. They very well may be my favorite band of all time. There I said it!
I'm with you.
Man even Zeppelin loves the doors. There's a video of page and plant playing break on through
@@Nictric1 I get alot of heat when I tell people I choose The Doors over Zeppelin
No slack here man, totally with you😎
im with ya brother... id take all of the doors albums over zeps... viva la DOORS!!!!
If any of the Kids have seen this, I’ll bet they had a great, heartwarming feeling seeing that smile throughout the sketch.
we need to see their reaction video to this video
I have a huge grin on my face seeing Robby Krieger's happy reaction to this Kids in the Hall skit. I LOVE The doors and it's great that he said it was cool! 🇨🇦
robby krieger is one of the nicest celebrities ive ever met. very charitable and down to earth, especially a genius musician.
I clicked immediately. I have all the albums and adored KITH back in the day, so surreal seeing Krieger watch the Doors skit.
I wouldn't have a problem if this channel becomes just Robby Krieger's vlogging channel
I'm so glad krieger is still living and recording video
Me too man
Love Her Madly is actually one of my favourite Doors song haha!! This was such an amazing video. I loved every second.
Robby wrote that one, you know.
@@bwanna23 I know.
@@bwanna23 at least he laughed at this.
Yeah, it’s my fav too!
Robby is so mellow and so cool. I love both The Doors and KITH. This is priceless❤
I was born in’65 so I never got to see the Doors live, I did however get to see The Kids In The Hall live over 30 years ago !
same
Cdn here too. Born in '70 so no Doors concert, but KITH 30 yrs ago!
I went to a few recordings of KITH, they put on an amazing stage show that happened to be in a TV Studio being taped!
Robby, long life to you!
THE DOORS is the very best band of all times !!! Devotion
I remember that very sketch when the kids originally put it on tv. I just thought that everyone had seen it. Viva the Doors!
Im thinking Robbie isnt the type to spend much time surfin youtube.
This is so badass!
I love both the Doors and the Kids in the Hall.
McCulloch embodies a real Doors fan so well in the skit. Countless guys like this would work record shops.
I've always wondered what Doors fans are like. I love them and I know what I'm like, but I can't see what we have in common. I had a friend who once said to me out of nowhere: You're a Doors person, aren't you? I asked how he knew that. He smiled but didn't offer an answer. To this day, I wonder...
I always thought that Doors fans are both pretty chill and a little crazy in all the right ways (:
@@larissastevenson3720 its true- what a great description 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
He knew...
Same with me, an old friend I have not seen in years, first question “Are you still a big Doors fan?” I said of course, proudly.
A true Doors fan does not identify with being a ’fan’ - and understands music, aesthetics, art, philosophy, literature, life and death better than others. Cheers!
Kids in the hall is a classic. Reminds me of my early teen years. Funny Canadians 🇨🇦. #RIPNormMcdonald
Kevin McDonald gets no respect lol
Fucking lol
@@cyfkilla”Silennnnnnnnnce!!!l”😂
"JIM FUCKING MORRISON TOLD ME!!" That is why Lorne Michaels thought the KITH would be better off on Canadian tv, they can drop F bombs and get away with skits that SNL couldn't.
A crossover we didn't know we needed
We are a special breed.
The few.
The proud.
The DOORS FANS!
I looooove Love Her Madly. The breakdown of "All your love," sounds so trippy.
Robbie such an Underrated guitarist --- without him , John and Ray ... Jim would not have found the musical blueprint for his poetry.
LA MEJOR BANDA DE TODOS LOS TIMPO GRANDES POR SIEMPRE SALUDOS DESDE COLOMBIA
Saludos desde Canadá hermano, este programa "kids in the hall" es de Canadá...
Si, amigo.
I am 42 years old, and the first time I listened to The Doors was when I was 13 years old. It changed my life forever. I would have loved to be alive to go to one of their concerts. I would have loved to be there. If I had a time machine, I would choose to go back to those magical times! Thank you for all that you delivered.
Robby Krieger you are a genius. My condolences to another of the geniuses: Ray manzarek. Greetings to John Densmore too.
When are you going to do a new tribute?
03:15. Only a real Doors fan could find a car (and steal it) that could still play an 8-track tape in 2024! Viva La Doors!
When Robby smiles I smile
This was great I love the Doors!!!
Rest In Peace Norm Macdonald
Kevin McDonald is still alive lol
Thats norm McDonald in that leather vest?
@@adonaiyah2196This was Bruce McCulloch (store employee/guide to The Doors) and Kevin MacDonald (customer). Norm and Kevin aren’t related, as far as I know, and Norm wasn’t part of Kids In The Hall.
10 years more and it will be like this
- Daddy, what is this?
- This is music, son.
- wait, I thought music was just something to make a film faster and for elevator so nobody can hear who farted in the elevator....
- No, son, there were times when we actually listened to music. Can you imagine? We actually could sit and listen to music. Also there were concerts and TV shows where people actually talked about music, and funny sketches based on whether there is bass in The Doors...
This makes me so happy as I discovered The Doors in high school and religiously watched Kids in the Hall reruns after school then too. I’m glad he appreciated the sentiment in that sketch. I’m excited to read the upcoming book too, got mine preordered already!
He seems a very likeable, charming and down to earth type of guy. Great musician, a true legend.
That's the first time I've ever seen that..
And I'm so glad I could watch it with Robby Krieger.
Kids In The Hall and SCTV were Canada's MAD TV and SNL.
@@Roddy556And overall quality of those shows KITH and SCTV were generally substantially better (particularly with SNL by the mid 2000s)
It's good to see Robby's doing well still...he has a good sense of humour about this clip too lol!
Pretty close...NO BASS PLAYER.... During their duration of studio recordings, try about 20 session bass players... Jerry Scheff would've been the ideal 5th member🙂
never thought i’d be seeing this video but here we are
Larga vida al maestro 🎸 Robby Krieger!
El mejor guitarrista
This is beyond amazing to see wow thank you.😊
Todo un pibe ese Robby bien Fachero como en 1967
The Kids in the hall were great, but they weren't the f.cking Doors man!
This is hilarious, but you could actually substitute about ten or fifteen band names for "Doors" here and it would work. I am a lifelong fan of the Doors for the last 50+ years, but I see people act this way about the Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, Springsteen, the Stones, etc. Many people have to crap on other artists in order to elevate their own favourite artists, or at least feel a need to. The rest are just ordinary love-it-or-don't-love-it-whatever fans, like you and I.
I can’t stop smiling, this is amazing! Thank you for sharing Robby!
Love both The Kids in the Hall AND The Doors, but I have to admit, I've always felt that sketch had one flaw: 8-Track tapes don't end - they just keep playing, over, and over, and over, until you give up.
In the part of the skit, when Bruce McCulloch tells Kevin McDonald that The Doors will never play live again, you can see a visible change in Robby's demeanor. He puts his head down and seems to feel those words. You can see that after all these years, he is still affected by Morrison's death. One can eventually get over trauma, but we don't ever forget it.
robby should react to the cover band . THE DOORS ALIVE
Better yet Wild Child I know Ray and Robby played with the lead singer Dave Brock
Fantastic.
Classic comedians .
Heros of their profession .
1. He's wearing the same shirt as Robbie.
2. Love Her Madly does suck.
3. Waiting For The Sun, my favorite album since 1968.
4. Read the liner notes. FOUR bassists played on that album. Just listen to Spanish Caravan for fuck's sake. Does that sound like Ray's little keyboard bass?
This skit is so funny. The sales guy really gets it. :)
Lilo and Stitch like Elvis. Pleakley likes The Doors.
Love this
Okay, the greatest reaction video of all time? Anyone?
It must be interesting to be a member of a band that has attained practically mystical, unearthly status XD
Gracias eternas a Robby y todos los Doors... desde Ecuador abrazos de un Doors Fan
The Doors is that rock and roll band that is a lot like a Phoenix, it refuses to die- it always comes back from its ashes for every generation. 4 cats making great music, not wanting to sound like anybody else.
Cool!
THIS......this moment RIGHT HERE....this moment is what i call.....SUBLIME. 🌱
Some are born to sweet delight. Some (aka Doors fans) are born to the endless night.
You might have something there.
Robbie’s the coolest
The Doors are the greatest band of all time!❤
Robby is a pure soul
Best band ever ❤
The second guy who comes in and asks for the Depeche Mode album...is he an actual member of Depeche Mode?
I hope so
Joyous! 😊
"Steal a car.."
"I have a car.."
"Steal a car.."
Good to see Robby looking healthy ✌️
This made my day!
Love it ! Thanks Robby for being a sport
Please do more guitar tutorials.
I had that Hendrix poster! 😂
Oh, great. Another book about The Doors I have to read. :p
This has always been one of my favorite KITH skits, and it's nice to get to see Robby enjoy it.
Now we need Densmore’s
Densmore has gotten more crabby as he gets older. I miss Ray
They're part of the sound track of our lives. BTW.....I was born in 1966 and their music was everywhere during my entire childhood and throughout my teen years.
Great video. Love that KITH sketch, pure comedy gold. It's based on an sketch from Bruce McCulloch's comedy album, Shame Based Man. Track that down if you can, that's even better than the tv version.
I saw emotion when the bit said the doors would never tour again.
It is true... they are born, not made... I wonder if that Depeche Mode fan ever made it through the Strange Days to the Morrison Hotel to witness The Soft Parade?
My Canadian heart is bursting! ❤🇨🇦❤️😂🤣😂
Robby always was and always will be the coolest guy!!!! 😎
The music you hear at the end was performed by a live band during the taping. They were called "Shadowy Men From a Shadowy Planet."
It's nice for Robby to know how fanatical we Doors fans are!
love her madly is awesome tho
I love his reaction! He seemed genuinely delighted ❤️
These "Reaction" channels on RUclips young folks are discovering the Doors for 1st time!!! HEAVEN🙏
That was great
Kids In The Hall was Avante Garde back in the 90's and that was Canadian TV...
And Canadian TV has SUCKED ever since !!
