@@mysteriousj3019 The biggest problem is that the NFL is playing politics like everyone else. If they didn't do that, there would be a HUGE difference with lots of rosters and what criteria they use to rate quarterbacks. Right now, it's a joke.
This is a problem the NFL has been dealing with the past decade or so with the rise of the "mobile QB". Many of them are basically RB's that can throw. It works in college because it's freakish talent that can carry over scheme. But in the NFL you need skill in all faucets of your position not just your niche. Richardson is just another one of these QBs that can't make the throws regularly and has survived on his athletic abilities. Now his team is running low on patience, he looks minimally better than the combine, and if they keep starting him they could be drafting his replacement. There is enough of a team there to push in the playoffs, I respect going for it rather than giving up with the division in reach still.
I blame the Colts for taking him and thinking that he was ready to be a starter! If any QB coming out of college, should’ve set for year, it should’ve been AR
I like Dan ,but I think he is leaving something out , Richard's is a developmental player , he should have been behind a veteran starter this year from the beginning
But this Colts roster doesn't care about what Richardson will be two years from now. They rightfully want the best chance to win now which means playing Flacco. Also, QB's are expected to come into the league and be successful much faster or sit on the bench behind a starter for multiple years and get better that way. Can't Richardson get better the same way Jordan Love got better watching Rodgers? Richardson is wildly innacurate and borderline unwatchable so it's understandable that they bench him at this point.
Jordan love played 3 full seasons of college ball and got to sot behind a quarterback that was the best version of his playstyle. This colts roster isn't good enough to compete as is, if the Flacco led Colts lost to the Jags they have no shot at getting past the wildcard round. The only reason the benching makes sense is that its Steichen sending a message about the sit out. If it is performance based, colts should entirely rebuild from the ground up.
Colts ownership and fanbase just want to have a Manning or a Luck. But they also don't want to acknowledge that they cut Peyton (he won his second SB 5 years later) and Andrew retired a month before the season because he was so physically destroyed by the game.
