Thanks, the tip about the molding and the plate are golden and make the job easy and can be done in under an hour even if you have just a regular pair of pliers to undo and reattach the clamps. I would urge anyone today with a 2007-2009 to change this item ASAP. In my case the connector for the top hose broke off while I was driving causing all of the coolant to drain out of the car. If you have a 2007-2009 the part is just waiting to fail.

Just to let you know your approach of removing only the iron flange/plate in front of the heater valve instead of removing wiper assembly etc., works only in W221 chassis. In W220 chassis, that metal wall is mounted with lot of pipes and wiring harnesses. Hence many videos in RUclips shows you need to remove wiper and its assembly etc. There is no shortcut in W220 chassis cars. Just for your info.
If your car is use SBC brake ,then the job will very hard to do , because the brake master cylinder is much bigger,just did one today,need to remove 3 hoses that with the lock before move the value out,then remove the hose clamp that last hose.😓
