    I wanted to hate these ideas, but they are all good ideas. The only thing that I thought was forgotten to be mentioned is you likely have to know what the world or universe looks like if you want your characters to fit into whatever they are fitting into or whatever you want to make. Personally I think this can be an important factor that can separate your art from looking out of place in whatever you have around it, or even actually bleeding together with too much with things you like or things you love when you don't necessarily want them to.
    Still, I think a good reason that these tips are great that wasn't as clearly explained is that it also helps to fight artist block.

    • @swisdom9117
      @swisdom9117 2 года назад +5

      As my little brother would say, you'll end up "wasting" your money somehow anyway. The way I see it, Buy the course only if you're super serious about art and improving. Be clear on WHY you love art or want to improve exactly. What's your end goal? Free content is great and abundant but at some time you'll need heavier investment, especially if you take something seriously

    • @goldfishcat
      @goldfishcat 2 года назад +2

      Tbh, as an artist who has been drawing for over 8-9 years by now, its better to learn the fundamentals from free online YT tutorials rather than buying expensive art classes. I took a glance at the Coloso curriculum and most of it is stuff you can find online without paying (For example, Proko has amazing videos for anatomy. If you want more suggestions, judt ping me and I'll make a list). It's not guaranteed that a "good" artist is always a good teacher. Of course, if you like their style and want to learn about their specific techniques then go for it, but for a beginner, I'd reccomend investing in a good tablet first (due to my biases, I like screen tablets since they feel more natural vs. the pad ones where you look up at a monitor while drawing). If art is something that fits your interests, then a good tablet will last you for years and years. If you end up not liking art, you can store it away until you feel like drawing again in the future or resell it. If you already have a tablet, then thats great, I'd probably reccomend learning the basics as I mentioned before (and you can start literally anywhere that interests you like shapes, forms, proportions, colors, etc.)

    • @goldfishcat
      @goldfishcat 2 года назад +1

      Also adding on to my post and replying to S Wisdom, you dont need to spend major money to be invested in art. Motivation comes and goes, but what matters most is finding a purpose and sticking to it with hard practice. I started out with a pencil and paper doodling random anime characters, then switching to a mouse for digital. Once I was fully invested, I upgraded to a tablet with all the skills I learned from doing traditional art. Additionally, drawing is not only reading and watching theory, but also working on critical observational skills. You could pick an art piece you love and learn so much more by breaking it down yourself than what any other paid tutorial could show you. If you like anime styled stuff, I'd reccomend checking out Naoki Saito's Illustration channel where he teaches you how to break down other artists' work, or his vids on how to improve other peoples art. Most of his recent stuff is english subtitled. Peace and love on your art journey ✨️

    • @swisdom9117
      @swisdom9117 2 года назад +1

      @@goldfishcat this is so true! Focusing is really the key. You have to be SUPER CLEAR AND SPECIFIC on what you want to learn in a given timefram, or what you want to learn from a specific piece (is it the lighting, clothing folds? Etc)

    eeeeyup, knew all these b4, i useally try to make my characters faces unique by giving them different eyes shapes and if needed I'll add somthing on the face like idk a tear drop on the right cheek or a scar, or face paint or mark, then i focus on the hair style as the main base of thr silhouette and personality, i focus mostly on the hair and face, rather then clothing, .. well i focus oncthe clothing but i put more effort on the upper body more, bc 1: gotta make sure ur character looks like them selves no matter the clothing style, and 2: ..well make sure u can change the hair style and still be reconizable
    if i do focus on the clothing useally bc its equally as important to express the more character like a whrist band hiding somthing underneath, i would make that whrist uniaue somthing recognizable even if the character not wearing when u see the whrist band u say "HEY THATS [character] WHRISTBAND" or a school uniform

    • @asumijynn
      @asumijynn 2 года назад +1

      It's totally normal to do the sketch, and then go on to the line art and then color. I personally skip line art because i never like how it looks "clean", but no lol your aren't doing anything wrong by doing it that way whatever you feel is best is good

    • @mdellikneenieltsoon7151
      @mdellikneenieltsoon7151 2 года назад +2

      I don't think??? most artists add colors before, I usually work from sketch > lineart > color > shading > final touches. If I don't want to do lineart I'll just sketch and color on top of or below the sketch layer depending how I feel, but it's not usually planned- you can do it however you want honestly, it really doesn't matter. There's no wrong way to make art, just play around until you find a process you enjoy doing the most.

    How do you get the paint colors to have that tint/tone in photoshop?
    Do you play with the opacity?
    It always comes out too vibrant for me and not soft like in your video's example.

    Yo where is the promo? 3 month classes are always 90$... ngl I bought the one from Chyan and is really good, but this sadly isnt a promo :/, I really wanted moogons class, but they keep upping its price

      Ohh ive really been looking at Chyan's class!! Does it teach a lot on how to compose a scene for an illustration that draws the viewer's gaze well, can i ask? Because that's a really major thing I'm looking to improve on!

      @@sugoish9461 it goes there, dont know if it is what you are looking for, but there is a class where he is drawing thumbnails for scenes from reference pinups, he explains why he is drawing the scene and how it is supposed to catch your eye, I just kinda saw the vid to know wht was in the course, but I havent reached the video to fully watch it and practice that part

      @@sugoish9461 welp, this promo "art sempai x colosso" isnt really a promo, those 90dll prices are always there the downside is that it is a 3 month trial... however u can pay full price, all courses are "70% discount" permanently and they always say "offer ends in like 5 days" when the day comes the counter just reset and well they add new days to "the promo", for example I paid Gharlieras and Chyan full price, they were 160 dll on release... and they up the price like 1 -5 dll per week, Gharliera is currently 213 dll, dunno about Chyan, but mogoon's is also 210 dll, still, if you pay those prices it is lifetime access, I just hate you have to download a weird "media player" that is called kolust or something like that, it kinda used to crash my computer when I opened League, cuz the player is a service that is always active, u can close it, but everytime u ooen coloso it kinda loads alm the stuff it needs and it is slower....

    This is one of the cringiest videos RUclips has recommended me. This entire video especially the thumbnail was full of art used without permission, along with every other video on the channel. Even the chibi persona and instagram tells me so much about the quality of this person's own drawings that they have to steal art from other artists. So they can make a video, get clout and get $$. And everyone's eating this up happily. Goddamn.

      Not me, I don't agree with charging a person for 90 o more dollars just for a character design.

    • @goldfishcat
      @goldfishcat 2 года назад +5

      Yeah, honestly a lot of these "classes" like to prey on beginner artists who look at fancy art and go "if i spend XXX amount of money, can I draw like that too?". If an intermediate artist likes the stylization or rendering of a specific artist and wants to learn more about that specific technique, then its sort of okay. But $90 for character design tips alone? Character design is something you just gotta learn yourself by expanding your visual library, either from observing IRL fashion or other art and practicing to gain that intuition of "what looks right". Even if the classes contain other topics, its all stuff thats online with hundreds of free tutorials for the basics.
