It's worth mentioning that you can achieve similar result with gate plugin and sidechain which might give you more control over the ducking strength vs. release time

As you were about to say Sidechain, my brain went... Yes Sidechain, but I never knew this prior. And the use of Reverb also is so clever. Gives the feeling that the possibilities are endless. Absolutely fantastic.

This technique works also very well with transient synt leads. I use after the delay and compressor (side chain) the Valhalla Shimmer (Cinematic Reverb). Also in ambient productions I use this effect on piano's and soft guitars. It's really hypnotise the repating atmosphere.

Great tip, thanks, but If you're using the exact same reverb, why not just send the delay aux pre-fader to the reverb aux, so the send knob functions as wet volume and delay aux fader works as dry volume? Saves a bit of CPU doesn't it?

Well, I didn’t use the same verb in the video. But yes, you can do that too. For an effect like this, I think I prefer having the combined effect on one channel rather than splitting it up. But if you prefer routing it, go for it.

Is it possible to do this playing in real time? I have set up as you describe and am playing an electric guitar directly into Logic. The compressor isn't kicking in no matter how low I set the threshold. If I record a track then the compressor starts to work
