I first heard this piece at a live concert in 2019 and was immediately drawn to it. The fine performance by these three young players could not be bettered, and that's from a man in his eighties who has been listening to such music since he was a boy - me !
The finale is too similar to that of Brahms's Horn Trio for it to be a coincidence; but which came first, I wonder? Brahms wrote his Trio in 1865, when Herzogenberg was only 22, and this Trio wasn't published until 1889, so it's likely Herzogenberg was 'influenced' by Brahms. Anyway, a most agreeable piece. Thanks for posting. (Should the movements be I, II, III?)
