So that's what we look like to someone who's never been here. Dear Travel & Geography, the historical background to Trinidad will probably blow your mind. If you are interested, there's a book on the history of the West Indies as a whole, called "From Columbus to Castro", that may be worth your while. It might explain why we don't pronounce all those Spanish names with a Spanish accent here in Trinidad, and why very few people here speak Spanish at all. Yes, the country is green. We have 400 species of birds at last count and we keep finding new species. The geology is also very diverse across the islands. We even have mud volcanoes and a spring with prehistoric water. But it is the people that make these islands special. Deeply spiritual, musically profane, and full of the joy of life, Trinbagonians are a special mix of cultures from all over the world. We love to travel and Trinis have been everywhere and in everything.
