how to sew convert a v neck tshirt
I started watching this video so I didn't mess up while cutting my shirt, but I completely forgot about my shirt your voice was so soothing I started to relax and simply just wanted to listen as I napped
Thank you! I've wanted to do this several times, but didn't want to just cut into my knit shirts. I appreciate your attention to hand stitching--it seems like it's a dying art.
Thank you for this detailed video with great instructions. It is so relevant today, Monday, May 27, 2024 as I have ordered several Adidas crew necks that MUST be made into a more feminine 'v' neck.
Glad it was helpful!
This was very helpful. I don’t like those tight T shirt collars either - but I want to wear a rock band tee sometimes.
I love the clarity of the video - and I love your stubby little fingers.
I love not having long painted claws getting in the way!
Thank you SO MUCH! I don't sew and I have watched tons of these that I could never follow. But I think I can actually do what you've outlined here. I have to modify a family Xmas shirt with a crew neck and was desperate to find something. Thank you so much for this helpful video! Now I will be able to match the family at Xmas and not feel choked all day long. :) lol
Looks like a micro-picot edging. Thanks! I have a t-shirt in the closet that will get this v-neck finish. I can’t have anything close to my neck either.
I was watching somebody else's video on how to make a v-neck out of a T-shirt a ruin the entire shirt because her details were not there. She didn't explain a lot of small things that would have prevented me from ruining that shirt. I really liked your slow methodical and deep explanation of everything you did and I'm looking forward to finding more of your videos.
Thanks for the video! Clear and easy to follow! The only thing I would add is to bury the tail as you complete the three knots at the end by running you still threaded needle through a single layer of fabric on the back side of the shirt making sure it doesn't show on the front and then clipping it close to the fabric. Just an added protection from unraveling.
Please consider using a contrasting colored thread and mention you are using a round ended needle. Your video was the best I have seen. Excellent slow speed, close ups and ease of understanding your instructions. Thank you.
Thank you! Really appreciate how you explain why you’re doing what you’re doing at each step.
Thank you. Suddenly, here in 2021 I can find nothing but crew neck t-shirts!
Super! I just saw a couple of great t-shirts at Dollar Tree, but neckline to small for my comfort, absolutely going to do this 'cause I really like v-neckline. Thanks so much.
The two shirts in the video are from Dollar Tree also. :)
LOVED this technique. I have just used this idea on my tee and also i did the same v-cut design on the sleeves as well and i love how it turned out.
Thank you from Brazil! I've just cut a v-neck and didn't know what to do finish! Thank you!
Thank you. I needed to alter t-shirts so I don't feel choked. This is a nicely finished shirt--without mutilating it! My work has themes from time to time and I don't have a choice but to wear t-shirts. Possibly: for the edges, sew the "V" with a touch of lace, satin ribbon, or Ric-rac.
You're so welcome!
Awesome, I have a round neck t shirt that I love, but don’t like to wear because of the neckline. You’ve helped so much!
Thank you! That was so helpful and the close up shots were great!
Good job! This just may give me the nudge to do this for my wife's Christmas t-shirt project
Great video! I’ve never been able to sew or make things like this and you’ve made it easy enough I’m going to try it! Thank You!
Thank you. This looks so professional. I needed this lesson.
Awesome, thank you for sharing! I don't like crewneck shirts either. It would also be cute and easy to add tiny little stripes of same fabric or complimentary fabric across the V neck to help keep it laying flat. If you use a different fabric you could add it to the sleeves. I think I may do that and roll the sleeves a couple times, tack on a little stripe and I might even find cute buttons to use to put the stripe on the sleeves and add one at the V. Ribbon would be cute too. Girl, you have gotten me inspired, lol.
me too i dont like crew neck
Hello! Thank you for the tutorial, I’m trying to fix a tight tshirt neck and every other video required a sowing machine, cutting off lots of fabric or had complicated instructions. I’m not the best seamstress but I believe I’m capable of following your video and getting a decent result haha. Thanks so much, have a wonderful day! :)
I am impressed by how well this tutorial was put together. Thank you. ☺️
I’m going to try this today thank you , I hope mine comes out ok.
Looks Great will be doing this to all my t-shirts...Thank you
Thank you, this was easy to understand. Not just that, instructionally it was simple and well-demonstrated (although on that note, thank you for the close-ups!), but also that you spoke clearly and not too fast and didn't play distracting music in the background. You just told us what we needed to do, and why, and that was that! I actually feel comfortable enough now after watching this to make my own attempt. Again, thanks! : D
I also really appreciated not having distracting background music!
I did this with 2 Tshirts dresses as they had crew necks and it work great. Scissors need and thread. Nice and easy. Thank you
This was the easiest solution I've seen. I used that ironable fusing tape so I didn't even sew, but the way to go about it was genius! Thank you.
How has your shirt held up with the ironing tape? I was thinking of alternatives to sewing and love this idea.
I came here just for this information! Thank you!!
Thanks for this. Was looking for an easy way to fix a long jon top (kind of chocks me) without taking off the facing. I doubt I'll be this neat.
You have done a wonderful job of explaining this! 🤗
Thanks a lot You saved me😍😍😍 now I don't have to chock on those round necks t-shirts
Wow! Now I know what to do with my crew neck shirts! Thank you so much!
Great job. Was easy to follow along. Thank you.
Excellent stitching and a brilliant idea. I really hate a tight crewneck!
Thanks for this video! Like you, I want a professional look!❤👍
This is the best one I have seen thanks
I did my first T-shirt and it turned out perfect! Thank you very much.
Thank you so much, your video was exactly what I needed. Everyone else kept repeating the long cumbersome way but yours is very simple!
I hate regular t-shirts and have a ton of band shirts I love but hate wearing because it feels like they choke me. I’m going to do this with them! So easy!
Thanks for this video. It's nice to have a way to make a v neck without a sewing machine. Cheers!
Beautifully done, thank you!
Very informative! Thank you!!!
Amei seu vídeo. Estava tentando ajeita uma camiseta do meu esposo e não sabia como. Parabéns me ajudou bastante.
I wondered, can one use a two faced tape to taper?
thank you so much. I appreciate your help!!!!!
Fantastic! Thank you!!!
Very good Idea! Idéia muito boa. Thanks. From Brasil 21.jul.2019
muchas gracias,bien explicado
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks for this video
You’re great! So easy to understand 😄😘
Next time please use a lighter thread to show stitching. Thank you for the lesson. Very helpful for crew necks that are too tight.
Fantastic thread matching! Did you pull a thread from the shirt? Thanks for the tutorial.
I purchased the thread from Walmart.
Very well demonstrated1 I'm no seamstress but I feel I could do this while following your video.Thank You for sharing!
Excellent! Thank you! You made it look simple.
Good video. Your instructions are clear and to the point. Thanks
Will do it this for my daughter's shirt
Helped tremendously! Thank you!
Great video! What do you recommend for the thread type? The shirt I'm starting with is high quality 100% cotton, and others will be various quality cotton or cotton blend. Thanks!
If new, I would wash and dry it first. I would use regular polyester thread as it doesn't shrink.
Brilliant! great, clear instructions, it's given me the confidence to use this method.😊
You can do it! Happy sewing! 🧵
Wow...that was a wonderful demonstration.....I actually think I can do this. Thank you!!!!
Wow! I will try this! Thank you.
Thank you for a great tutorial!! I needed help!
I just bought 13 t shirts on sale with crew necks that I hate! This video was so perfect for me to now cut myself and stitch up!! I did wonder if you could use iron on webbing like for hems just to be sure everything stays down nicely? But not sure how that works on stretch t-shirt material. Again, I love this video and would echo the comments of R MH below my comments!
Yes. It would be helpful. I would still sew it though as the iron-on material usually disappears over several washes..
Helpful easy sew if you are a neat person!
Great explanation, thanks!
Great technique and well explained
Awesome Thanks!
Now I can finally wear t shirts and sweatshirts in comfort. I will surge the raw edges though. I am very sensitive about my neck and chin. I don't even wear necklaces.
I may try that with my cutter foot. :)
Great video. I’m going to try it. Thanks for sharing 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Just love it..........just what I was looking for........thanks
Tu idea me encantó más ❤

Good instructions. Doesn’t anyone use a thimble anymore? I can’t sew without one.
Nah... I live dangerously. :)

This worked well, thank you so much for sharing.

👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can I trim my shirt neck gap if it's too big?
Yes, you should be able to. I would use another shirt that fits well as a template.
Can I just send my shirts to you. J.K. thank you for a great video and excellent instructions and information. I might give it a try. 👍
Could the sewing be done with a machine? This method is brilliant. Look forward to trying it.
Yes, absolutely
So I missed why the pencil mark was so crucial, as a commercial jumped in and when it came back you were ironing. I tried to go back but still couldn’t find where the pencil mark became important.
Amazing tips
Thank you madam
Love ya ma
