    Hey everyone, I just wanted to leave a comment here and say it does look more like the Positional Relay doesn't work as we explained it to be. So oops on that, but hope you enjoyed the video and our opinions regardless.

    Great video. A fairly different perspective in some areas from many other sources and it's good to see the thinking behind it and it helps a lot to better us all as players to get more information to work with. And I still find myself agreeing many of your comments.
    A couple comments in response and I would welcome thoughts as we all come to grips with this codex:
    - I was also down on Dal'yth until I saw a recent game from Tabletop Titans where they played Dal'yth and made a strong case for the Aerospace secondary since all the Aerospace markers are on the table edges. And being able to pick up unit after unit with their stratagem to move them all around the board for easy Engages and just to attack at hidden units seems like it would be strong in the right hands. It may still not be the strongest sept pick but there is definite value there. Also the light cover bonus has no distance clause to remove it. So enjoy that +1 save from someone shooting 1" away from you!
    - For Sa'cea, another good benefit that can easily be overlooked is battlesuits with heavy weapons or vehicles shooting in melee don't suffer -1 to hit. I know the plan is never to get such units into melee but your opponent is also not a static target and will just let you shoot them all day and there are cases where they simply will just get in on you. This is honestly pretty good for Broadsides since most opponents are going to want to tie them up in melee, same with the Riptide (as SMS are still heavy weapons). Going from 5s to 4s to hit makes your odds of clearing chaff away with your lighter guns a much less risky proposition and lessens the chance to miss putting those big guns on other targets that same turn (since you can declare shots outside of combat, but you must clear yourself out of engagement with previous shooting). And the alternative to fall back out of combat isn't exactly attractive either because then you skip on on all their shooting instead. It further reinforces the feeling of Sa'cea being comfortable being stuck in and grinding it out in urban warfare. Heck, use it on purpose by charging a Devilfish in to pin stuff down and grind away with it's rather decent shooting, and hope it explodes on the enemy when it dies for that sweet D6 mortals.
    - As someone who still played a lot of the previous Sa'cea (admittedly because of I built my army in fluff from Sa'cea), that T'au benefit of the single reroll really shouldn't be underestimated. It does need a little bit of build-around but it really really shines when you build your army to have a lot of singular punchy guns. What I took a lot was stealth teams since you could take that single fusion blaster and normally a single fusion blaster hitting on 4s seems kinda bad. But now think about it if I reword it: 3 man stealth team where I replace a burst cannon with a fusion blaster that rerolls to hit. And now T'au makes it full rerolls instead, and stealth teams infiltrate to better setup that fusion shot, are super durable in cover, and still have the homing beacon utility. And it's far from the only unit that can benefit from improving the reliability of low volume/high quality shots. Plus it works very well with the existing buffs as hitting on 3s reroll 1s for a Crisis squad running low volume weapons such as fusions or plasma means that most of your hits will be either hits or rerolls anyways. So if the roll gets a lot of 2s you can use that 1 die to recover a shot and if not then reroll a wound to push more damage through. While it does need to build around it to a degree, I wouldn't sleep on it. On top of also having all the good characters lol.
    None of this definitively makes those septs the best in the book but I do appreciate that each of the 6 main septs has some real game and a good playstyle to leverage. Yet another element of this book that shows very good internal balance.

      Broadsides are no longer core

    • @TacticalCommand
      @TacticalCommand 2 года назад

      @@karamelapple8007 At the time of writing they were core. But everything I wrote still applies even if they don't have Core. Sa'Cea's benefit is a sept tenet available to all Sa'Cea units, regardless of if they are core or not. Feel free to double check the tenet if you believe I am wrong in that regard.
      Broadsides losing core does certainly decrease their output. But for the points cost they are still very deadly and extremely sturdy. I very often have them as a To The Last unit and it's not often they are taken off the board considering the many other threats that are presented. And if they are removed I likely lost the game anyways as most of my force is likely dead.

    On the Borkan Overdrive I feel it works best with Burst Cannon and the prototype DW 02 Burst Cannon. That is 18 shots wounding on mostly 2s gainst most average targets, 3 on some. Add the Borkan Warlord that adds 1 AP to all commanders shots that is AP-3 shots, 18 of them. And the DW 02 ignores wound reducing rules, aka Ctan/Phoenix Lords/Ghaz
    Edit: Specifically on Coldstar with High output burst and DW 02

    Just as a heads up, when discussing the exemplar of the montka, the WL picks a unit within 9" but then that unit must also be within 9/12" of the enemy model they're targeting. So that's gonna make the turn 1 advance into range really difficult for crisis suits.
