    I don't know if anybody's said this to you, but that ability to retain a constant stream of thought while you're driving is abolutely amazing. Most people would just not be able to do that. Also what you say demonstrates real maturity, a lot of people never get there even though they've had more of a privileged start in life. It is really inspiring.

    Great to listen to your experiences Kieran. I'm a foster carer of a teenager so listening to you also helps me to gain a bit more understanding of how my lad could be feeling at times. Hopefully this will make me a better carer for him. It's not easy for foster carers because as you know, we have rules and regulations passed down from the government on how we are to care for the children and young people in our care. I personally don't like some of the rules as I can see how restrictive they can be at times for young people but I have to adhere to the rules or else I can be the one who gets in trouble if something goes wrong because I didn't follow the rules and procedures. You seem a remarkable young man, wise for your years! Looking forward to following you on your journey. Best wishes buddy.

    Some of those early to mid teenage issues described here (restricted freedom, clothes bought for you, being dragged around, having to report where you are, etc) are exactly the same for those raised by their parents as for those in the fostering system. As is the time (around age 17) one starts to feel more independent and make your own decisions. The main differences may occur AFTER young people become an adult and leave the system, when the back-up financial, practical and emotional support and advice often available from parents is missing (or less) for them.

    Sounds like my normal teen age years we all search for who we will become. Boy when I hit 21 it was tons party's and let's just say had wild time. But go's really fast 58 now getting ready to retire soon. Things learned from dad hunting fishing how to survive in nuker war lol and mom love. I could have had buff body had lots body building friends but never interested me. My brother did buff thing but lost interest take to much time to maintain it.

    My friend, who is deaf, was placed in a foster care home. However, there was a significant challenge in communication due to the lack of knowledge of sign language among the foster family. Consequently, he experienced loneliness and depression as they rarely engaged in conversation and tended to ignore him due to his serve deaf. Your video is amazing and be stong. I'm here to support you :)

      That was a horrible misjudgment by child services. Your friend would have benefited if placed in the care of people who know sign. I hope your friend is living in a positive setting with people who will engage with him.

      Hey, so he's living on his own now and doing okay. But he's been having trouble getting a job because of his deafness. The bosses don't want to hire him because they think he'll be too much trouble or that it'll cost too much to get an interpreter. He had a job interview this Tuesday, but he couldn't get an interpreter, so he couldn't go. He go to deaf club etc.

    Great video Kieran, you seem to be a very well adjusted young man despite being in foster car and being on the autism scale. You are very well put together from what I see of you now. You saying that you were only half the man you could have been from being in foster care I think you did indeed do a lot of learning once you became more independent but that you are now twice the man than many your age! You have pulled yourself up and set goals and achieved them from what I can see of your videos. Be well young man and thank you for your channel I hope others your age see you and are inspired to do better in life.

    It’s done to protect you! Being Autistic you are seen by social services more likely to be taken advantage of.
    A lot of foster children are gr00med because they seen as vulnerable. You were lucky you had clothes bought you some kids have nothing to wear. Being in foster care is not all bad. At least you wasn’t in a child’s home they are bad. And yeah I have experience of foster care.

    Idk how it works under the crown but in the US, we have lobbyists for everything. You’d make a good lobbyist to help lawmakers decide new laws on foster care.

    • @RJM56
      @RJM56 9 месяцев назад

      "... under the crown ..."? what an odd thing to write.
      Kieran is British. I am Australian. While both of our countries are constitutional monarchies and not constitutional republics, they are also modern parliamentary democracies from within whose parliaments Prime Ministers, democratically elected as members of parliament, lead as Heads of Government and where the Heads of State (the King of the UK and the King of Australia, symbolically "the Crown", who happens to be the same person, but that is another story) have little to no effective role in our lives.
      "...under the crown ..." would barely register, if at all, in our daily thoughts.
      Of course we have lobbyists who lobby parliamentarians, sometimes working in favour of issues that are important to us as citizens, other times against. Just as lobbyists lobby congresspersons in the US.

    As a foster parent you are still going to have the child saying no they don't want to do certain things. Looks like who ever fostered you did a really great job as you seem to have turned out to be a reasonable human being. Normal kids get their clothes bought for them and every teen are embarrassed to be seen with their parents. It's normal.

    Hi Kieran. I'm new to your YT channel and appreciate what you are doing. Having a career in uni education, as I have, fortunately exposes me to younger minds and their habits, largely in a good way. Please continue telling your story here, but there is one suggestion. When driving, it is hard to hear what you are saying. At stops for signals, traffic or whatever, your voice is very clear, so I may be spoiled...lol. Perhaps you can raise the volume of your Rode microphone as one easy solution. Do continue to let us see your personal evolution. Cheers.

    Love your work. Just be very careful while driving and making these videos. you’re too young and inexperienced understand that if you were to have an accident (even if it was the other guys fault) they could claim that you were a distracted driver and A judgment could be made against you. It would be best to pull over when you make these. We care about your well-being!
