Love from India Becca I just don't know how many fans you have from India...but I suggest your work even for kids who are so curious to learn handlettering even I'm inspired a lot from you...
Another helpful tip is for when you need to really clean your chalkboard : use a soft cloth or non scratch sponge, dampen it in vinegar and wipe away... repeat if necessary. At the end you will have a residue free, chalk free, streak free board
OMG!!! Just today someone asked me if I could write their menu on their new blackboard. Isn't it a serendipity or what??? Thank you sooo much, this is going to make my work much easier. I didn't know any of the tips but the sharpener one. Love you to the moon and back, Becca😁😘
I’ve been a teacher since 1997 (when we still had chalkboards in our classrooms). I’ve used quite a few of these tips, but it was fabulous to have them confirmed by an artist!!! Number 5 I did not know at all!! I’mexcited to try it!!!
Ok, love number 5 and yes mind blowing but oddly enough even being a teacher I never thought to sharpen my chalk. Duh... I feel both stupid and enlightened at the same time!!! Thank you!!!❤️
Making a shadow with an eraser! I was a painter so doing the chalk transfer was something we did with drawings. I never thought about using it with chalk. Great video, thanks.
First time chalker here...this was beyond helpful! I am trying to make my own bridal shower chalkboard sign and I feel super confident I can do it. Thank you!!
Wow! Just wow! I knew about doing a transfer, to get an image onto your paper. Never in a million years would I have thought to do it with chalk. And - you can sharpen chalk, without breaking it? Wow! This is such amazing fun, thank you so much for sharing.
3,4,& 5...👍🏻. I’ve used tip # 5 in other media, nice to see it work so well here; tip # 4... will dig out my quilt marking chalk pen 😎... ; tip #3... what a difference! Going to try it out now 😎😎 thanks for another fun video !
The tip I didnt know about was the eraser! Never thought of putting a shadow so clever and I also had no idea about the seasoning the board, that'll make it much easier 😁
Didn't know about sharpening chalk! And I made the inside of our garage door a whole chalk board to keep up with my son's work schedule or whether he did this or that. It has been very handy.
7:50 If u don't have paper that's ez to see thru u can use parchment paper (I get mine at the 99¢ store). Makes it way easier to see thru esp fine details. If it curls on u just iron flat on low tho I usually don't both or just roll the opposite way a couple times.
Becca you are so funny and I love how you explain everything. Regarding your question… I didn’t know any of these tips as have never done chalkboard, but always wondered when I saw them at shops… now I know 😘
Sharpen your chalk. As a person who is new to chalk boards I'm not sure I would have thought of that from the outset on my own. I appreciate you, Becca!
the only tip I did know was "seasoning" my chalk board. I love these tips, thank you for taking the time to share. I painted, using chalkboard paint, 2 of the storage doors on the outside of my camper, so my Grandson can make his masterpieces for me, but now I want to play on them myself :D
You're such a good teacher! Tip 5 is fantastic--and it was brand new to me. I also didn't know about sharpening the chalk. Great idea! So there were two tips in your video that were new to me. Thank you, Becca.
The chalk transfer was interesting. If you want your chalk to stay on the menu board longer, I wet it and it shows up more vibrantly. Especially coloured chalk.
Hey Becca tip №3 blew my mind. I didn't know about this before!! Also I love how natural you are in your photos instead of just editing things out you edit your mistakes in and I love that.
I didn’t know any of them hahaha.. I came from an old generation where teachers still wrote on the blackboard. My favorite thing is to help teacher wrote notes on it for everyone to copy. Though it meant I had to write them again on my note book. But what I like the most is the sharpening the chalk board. Never thought about it. Thank you!
I did not know any of these! You are an excellent instructor and I enjoy all your tutorials, many of your classes, and your entertaining emails! Keep up your good work.
I learned about seasoning the board and sharpening the chalk from Mabz' class during workshop week this year, but I didn't know about the eraser shadows or transferring the chalk - great ideas!
Yes! Exactly what I needed. I'll be doing chalk for the first time for my own signs as a vendor! I didn't know #3 and #5 and my mouth was wide open. Especially when you said to transfer the logo, cause that's what I wanted to do and this is going to save me so much time just like you said. Thank you so much! Love this video! It made me laugh and smile and I learned.
I recently learned about the transfer technique because I had a hard logo with some serifs that were tricky. I searched on youtube and couldn't find it within your videos but found it elsewhere. The eraser technique I never knew about and duh sharpening chalk would be a game changer! Nice tip! I love your videos and how you're completely down to earth.
I did not know about the pencil eraser or #5... I have tried and wanted to do chalk designs and every time Ive tried...it's a huge mess. Thank you for these extremely helpful tips. Now I know what Ill be doing today!!! Thank you!!!
Wow, you just Blew my mind. Sharpening chalk...Who knew. I can't wait to try it. What an Awesome Idea. Thanks Becca, You never disappoint. Be well and have a great day.
Thank you so much. I didn’t know about using a rubber for shadows! Awesome 👏 I just love your channel keep em coming please! God bless & much love from me 🙏🏼♥️
Mind blowing tips...didn't know any. My favorite one I think was the eraser making shadows. Also I'm heading out for some supplies. I want the white mechanical pencil. Love the help Becca.
Hi Becca! Love love love all of your tips! I don’t know if this question really applies to this but.. how can you prevent ghosting when using a chalk marker/pen? I season every board but when it comes time to take off the marker-it always shows up! No matter how I clean it off!! If you know/could show us a quick tip video of this you would be a life saver! (I end up having to re-paint them with chalk paint to get a clean background... sooo time consuming) Thanks for all you do! I love learning new things from you-so easy to follow.. and I feel like we’re friends bc you mess up and laugh about it. Keep it up girl!
Great Tips! Who knew about the transfer? All I’ve seen is to trace the letters, then use a projector, blah blah blah, way too complicated. And my fave is “season the board.” And the pencil eraser trick for shadows. Brilliant!
Hi Becca! I honestly didn’t know any of the chalk tips. As a kid, I learned about penciling the back of a design on paper then tracing over the front to transfer the design ( works similarly to using carbon paper), but I never considered using that technique for chalk-that’s cool. I love the seasoning then shadows ideas.
Chalk transfer is amazing! Thank you and I think you are super funny! People are set at ease when they can laugh, especially they are intimidated (like me) ha,
I did not know about sharpening the chalk (why didn't I think of that!), or about using an eraser for shadows, or about the transfering (even though I do this all the time when I'm drawing with pencil!). Thanks for the tips!!
The bonus tip was my favorite.... Spit on your challboard. I never would have thought of that! 🤣🤣🤣
My favorite was the shadows tip
Love from India Becca I just don't know how many fans you have from India...but I suggest your work even for kids who are so curious to learn handlettering even I'm inspired a lot from you...
I'm also from India!
I am also from India

I love how comfortable you are getting making videos and being yourself. Also great tips! I can't believe I've never thought of sharpening my chalk.
Me too
I agree
I knew none of the tips you just shared, all of them are game-changing ideas. thanks!!!!
I've never know all 5 tips before. Game changer!!
Becca, love how you teach- simple and to the point, step by step. I loved Tip #1: seasoning the chalk board.
Thank you!!!❤️
Same here..like how can I be a teacher and not know that
Thanks Becca I want to paint one wall in my office in chalk paint to be able to add my lettering and this tips came just in time 😃
I literally LOVE ALL THE FIVE TIPS, you are amazing Becca ❤️
Making a shadow with an eraser! I was a painter so doing the chalk transfer was something we did with drawings. I never thought about using it with chalk. Great video, thanks.

The eraser ✏️ is a game changer along with seasoning your board. Thank you much
All 5 tips are new to me. Huge thank you. You are saving my Art (and fighting my depression).
Wow! Just wow! I knew about doing a transfer, to get an image onto your paper. Never in a million years would I have thought to do it with chalk. And - you can sharpen chalk, without breaking it? Wow! This is such amazing fun, thank you so much for sharing.

1 and 5... Total game changers!!! Thank you Becca
The humor in this made my entire day.

I've been doing chalkboards for a few years now and the Tip 3 was one that I had never thought of! So thank you!

I didn't know about sharpening chalk, seasoning the chalkboard OR chalk transfer. Hugely helpful!
Sharpen your chalk. As a person who is new to chalk boards I'm not sure I would have thought of that from the outset on my own. I appreciate you, Becca!
#3 was my mind blower! I have pretty much given up on chalk but now I want to try it again. Thanks!
the only tip I did know was "seasoning" my chalk board. I love these tips, thank you for taking the time to share. I painted, using chalkboard paint, 2 of the storage doors on the outside of my camper, so my Grandson can make his masterpieces for me, but now I want to play on them myself :D
The only one I DID know was how to season a chalkboard. Loved the eraser and transfer tips!
You're such a good teacher! Tip 5 is fantastic--and it was brand new to me. I also didn't know about sharpening the chalk. Great idea! So there were two tips in your video that were new to me. Thank you, Becca.
I have to say these ways to use chalk are so new, thanks for your share.
The chalk transfer was interesting. If you want your chalk to stay on the menu board longer, I wet it and it shows up more vibrantly. Especially coloured chalk.
You wet the chalk, or the board? 🤔
3&5 were new to me. You said “buckle up!” I did, thankfully, because my mind was blown. I justified the exact same way, 5 isn't cheating.
Hey Becca tip №3 blew my mind. I didn't know about this before!! Also I love how natural you are in your photos instead of just editing things out you edit your mistakes in and I love that.
The only tip I knew about was to season the chalkboard. Thanks SO much for this great video!!!!
I never thought of sharpening chalk in my pencil sharpener. great idea.
All five of them are very helpful. 1,3,4,5 are new too me. Thank you for them.

I never realized the board needed seasoning. Love watching your videos :)
Great video! The tip that was totally new to me was using the eraser to shadow. Genius!
#3-4 and 5 but just because I bought the chalk book you recommended in a previous video... total game changer !!! thanks so much for sharing
Yes! Exactly what I needed. I'll be doing chalk for the first time for my own signs as a vendor! I didn't know #3 and #5 and my mouth was wide open. I did not know about sharpening the chalk (why didn't I think of that!), or about using an eraser for shadows, or about the transfering (even though I do this all the time when I'm drawing with pencil!). Thanks for the tips!!
