    Another helpful tip is for when you need to really clean your chalkboard : use a soft cloth or non scratch sponge, dampen it in vinegar and wipe away... repeat if necessary. At the end you will have a residue free, chalk free, streak free board

    OMG!!! Just today someone asked me if I could write their menu on their new blackboard. Isn't it a serendipity or what??? Thank you sooo much, this is going to make my work much easier. I didn't know any of the tips but the sharpener one. Love you to the moon and back, Becca😁😘

    I’ve been a teacher since 1997 (when we still had chalkboards in our classrooms). I’ve used quite a few of these tips, but it was fabulous to have them confirmed by an artist!!! Number 5 I did not know at all!! I’mexcited to try it!!!

    Ok, love number 5 and yes mind blowing but oddly enough even being a teacher I never thought to sharpen my chalk. Duh... I feel both stupid and enlightened at the same time!!! Thank you!!!❤️

    Making a shadow with an eraser! I was a painter so doing the chalk transfer was something we did with drawings. I never thought about using it with chalk. Great video, thanks.

    Wow! Just wow! I knew about doing a transfer, to get an image onto your paper. Never in a million years would I have thought to do it with chalk. And - you can sharpen chalk, without breaking it? Wow! This is such amazing fun, thank you so much for sharing.

    The tip I didnt know about was the eraser! Never thought of putting a shadow so clever and I also had no idea about the seasoning the board, that'll make it much easier 😁

    Didn't know about sharpening chalk! And I made the inside of our garage door a whole chalk board to keep up with my son's work schedule or whether he did this or that. It has been very handy.

    7:50 If u don't have paper that's ez to see thru u can use parchment paper (I get mine at the 99¢ store). Makes it way easier to see thru esp fine details. If it curls on u just iron flat on low tho I usually don't both or just roll the opposite way a couple times.

    the only tip I did know was "seasoning" my chalk board. I love these tips, thank you for taking the time to share. I painted, using chalkboard paint, 2 of the storage doors on the outside of my camper, so my Grandson can make his masterpieces for me, but now I want to play on them myself :D

    The chalk transfer was interesting. If you want your chalk to stay on the menu board longer, I wet it and it shows up more vibrantly. Especially coloured chalk.

    I didn’t know any of them hahaha.. I came from an old generation where teachers still wrote on the blackboard. My favorite thing is to help teacher wrote notes on it for everyone to copy. Though it meant I had to write them again on my note book. But what I like the most is the sharpening the chalk board. Never thought about it. Thank you!

    I learned about seasoning the board and sharpening the chalk from Mabz' class during workshop week this year, but I didn't know about the eraser shadows or transferring the chalk - great ideas!

    Yes! Exactly what I needed. I'll be doing chalk for the first time for my own signs as a vendor! I didn't know #3 and #5 and my mouth was wide open. Especially when you said to transfer the logo, cause that's what I wanted to do and this is going to save me so much time just like you said. Thank you so much! Love this video! It made me laugh and smile and I learned.

    I recently learned about the transfer technique because I had a hard logo with some serifs that were tricky. I searched on youtube and couldn't find it within your videos but found it elsewhere.
    The eraser technique I never knew about and duh sharpening chalk would be a game changer! Nice tip! I love your videos and how you're completely down to earth.

    I did not know about the pencil eraser or #5... I have tried and wanted to do chalk designs and every time Ive tried...it's a huge mess.

    The pencil eraser tip is life changing ❤ I am familiar w the other tips and using a pounce wheel to transfer designs. Each tip is very helpful.

    Hi Becca! Love love love all of your tips! I don’t know if this question really applies to this but.. how can you prevent ghosting when using a chalk marker/pen? I season every board but when it comes time to take off the marker-it always shows up! No matter how I clean it off!! If you know/could show us a quick tip video of this you would be a life saver! (I end up having to re-paint them with chalk paint to get a clean background... sooo time consuming) Thanks for all you do! I love learning new things from you-so easy to follow.. and I feel like we’re friends bc you mess up and laugh about it. Keep it up girl!

    Great Tips! Who knew about the transfer? All I’ve seen is to trace the letters, then use a projector,
    blah blah blah, way too complicated. And my fave is “season the board.” And the pencil eraser trick for shadows. Brilliant!

    Hi Becca! I honestly didn’t know any of the chalk tips. As a kid, I learned about penciling the back of a design on paper then tracing over the front to transfer the design ( works similarly to using carbon paper), but I never considered using that technique for chalk-that’s cool. I love the seasoning then shadows ideas.

    I did not know about sharpening the chalk (why didn't I think of that!), or about using an eraser for shadows, or about the transfering (even though I do this all the time when I'm drawing with pencil!). Thanks for the tips!!
