    Did anyone notice on the intermediate layout the word IN was omitted on the final layout? Love the video. It's always interesting to see how much goes into something that appears to be so simply.

      I went back to see the point where it was omitted and can see myself doing the same thing and not feeling the need to draw attention to it. Just wild to imagine a human does human things like the rest of us imperfect humans.

    I am a middle school art teacher and our last project of the semester is to pick a quote from a favorite cartoon character and then to write it out in calligraphy lettering. I have watched many of your videos and other youtuber's videos, and I have to say that YOU by FAR are the BEST at explaining and teaching!! Thank you! :)

    My biggest take away from this is correcting your sloppy copy with a red pen. Something so simple but so effective! I've been toying around with hand lettering for about a year now but am not confident enough to call myself anything other than "beginner". Your videos are helping me gain a lot of confidence in my work. Thank you for your hard work Becca! P.S. I absolutely LOVE the Dad Jokes in your emails! Haha!

    Absolutely a very good training video on how to go about creating a set of words in calligraphy. I never knew all this! I am so HAPPY to finally learn all these pre-steps before actually putting calligraphy onto an artwork or envelope. I did calligraphy many years ago (Did NOT learn all the nuances that are actually involved in creating good -quality work and after a while I did get a bit discouraged and stopped doing any calligraphy. So happy that I am back and learning how to actually create calligraphy and make it all look good. Many thanks for posting this informative video.

    This is very in depth and super helpful. It requires quite a few steps to figure it all out but it's worth to put in a bit more effort into planning and in that way avoid the frustration of having to rework, not knowing where your mistake is, if tat makes sense. By the way, I often forget to dot my 'i's, no big deal...

      She did discuss the difference between cursive and calligraphy in her video Basic Calligraphy Strokes (Beginner Calligraphy 101). This is a modern version of calligraphy using brush pens instead of traditional calligraphy using the metal nubs and ink pot. So there is bound to be visual differences.

    • @snazzie-designz
      @snazzie-designz 5 лет назад +8

      @@TheHappyEverCrafter Oh I've been there... spent ages on a full calligraphed page and then realised afterwards (with a few bleeps) that I left a word out! There's no undo button with real calligraphy which is why handmade things are so much more appreciated because you only get one go at it or else have to start all over. This is why I can appreciate how great this video is because it's real and shows how challenging and time consuming it is. Besides the omission of the "in" in the second example doesn't change the method that you were teaching in any way, and the method itself is excellent and very helpful.
