- 2011 Kennedy Center Honoree Yo-Yo Ma was honored by President Barack Obama during a ceremony at the White House.
Yo-Yo Ma (born October 7, 1955) is an American cellist, virtuoso, and orchestral composer. He has received multiple Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts in 2001 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011. Ma is regarded by some as the most famous cellist of the modern age.

I love Yo-Yo Ma. I have two of his albums on my iPod and can listen to him all day long. Friends of mine who live in the Boston area say he's the nicest guy ever, too. So I love it when nice guys win. Congratulations, Mr. Ma!
Gosh, if i'm not mistaken- Obama is actually talking heartfelt- without prompters- about Yoyo's actual career. This is incredible to think in the age of trump; trump being a man who can't tie his own shoelace. It's just weird man, to see a president actually speak a sentence.
Yes, full and intelligent sentences at a college level, I miss President Obama! Trump speaks at a 4th grade level and it embarrasses me to no end.

I suggest you sit back, relax and watch the many YT videos of Trump's visits to the flooded areas in Texas and Louisiana so you can see the compassion he and Melania had for the victims of this terrible tragedy. He and Melania's involvement in the food lines, supply distributions, talking to the victims in the shelters and the spectators who came to see him when he landed at the airport was impressive. If you can watch these videos and truly say that you weren't moved by the president's actions then you have an abnormal hatred of Trump that will not serve you well since he is going to be around for a long, long time.

Maybe those Puerto Ricans out there on the big island surrounded by a lot of water will speak of his compassion also? Which is why I said that is what OBAMA thinks of HIMSELF - that probably in his eyes, he was thinking what an honor it was for everyone else in the room to be in his presence. That man has one of the worst messiah-complexes. I just wish Yo-Yo Ma had been honored by a better man. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

***** It is a fact. You have to be born in the USA in order to run for the presidency. So people like Henry Kissinger is ineligible because he was born in Europe.
***** It is one of those arbitrary "rules" that the USA had chosen to adopt. Different countries have different ways of doing things. For example, you don't have to be born in the UK to be Prime Minister of the UK. I suppose the US being a relatively new country (it only became independent in 1776,) and the country is made of mostly of immigrants, she wanted to be sure that the top office was held by somebody who was "totally" American. Who knows, maybe one day, even the US would change their rules.

Yo-Yo Ma is an amazingly humble and respectful human being, and I can’t help thinking that if Obama had not put down Trump so badly at that White House dinner so many years ago, Trump would not have run for office and the world would be a very different place today.
