    she is such a good mama

    Its extremely important for those newborn puppies to nurse immediately and to continue to nurse. They need the mothers colostrum for health, the antibodies, and strength. Never take them away from nursing right away. This also makes the mother more nervous when she hears her babies crying. Thats cruel to the pups and to the mother. The mother also benefits from the pups drinking milk because it releases natural oxytocin within her to continue the birthing process and to increase milk flow. It also helps to excrete the placenta entirely. And if you could have helped her move from that corner so she was parallel to the side, she could have had more room to birth and it would have been easier for you to help if needed. Her back end should be out of that corner and away from the edge.

    Where d8d you get the calcium and why do you give it to her

      I got the calcium from Revival Animal magazine, they also have an online shop. But a lot of places sell it. I personally don't know the science behind it but it helps give them energy while whelping. Made a huge difference in my opinion with Phoenix.

    My Corso is attached to me too, and now that labor is near she’s been extra clingy. I saw you mentioned you were in the box because she wanted to be by your side- how did she let you know it was time? What time of day did her labor start, at how many days gestation?

      If you watch part 1 I actually show you what she did to show us it was time. Her water broke and she was leaking and would not stay in the box. So we decided to go sit in there and she came in and sat by me. I knew puppies were on the way when she started pushing! Took a couple hours if I can remember correctly from the water breaking to the first pups arrival.

    Hi. I'm in Michigan too and looking for a cane corso. What city are you in?

      @Dogdayshomestead  2 года назад +1

      This is old footage, no pups for us. I am close to the Ohio border. I don’t know of any available nearby since we recently moved. Lots of recent litters but most are all reserved.

      What is the stuff you are giving her and what does it help with?

    • @Dogdayshomestead
      @Dogdayshomestead  2 года назад +1

      @@justinstidylawn6418 it is from breeders edge and it is calcium paste, it helps her to have the energy to stay in active labor. To be honest, I don't understand the science of why calcium is good for them in labor, but I can certainly say it worked because every time we gave her some she had the energy to continue.
