It's genuinely one of the best little psycho-social tricks Star has come up with. You want the cue to pop whatever to be obvious and distinct from all other comms. Doing a quick little scream is perfect because it's not a genuine sounding reaction since you're forcing it, and thus hamming up the scream for fun. You could do a gamer riff on a BDSM staple if you want to make the situation feel awkward for everyone involved by picking a word you never say normally as a reaction, like blueberry or something. But screaming has advantages like letting whoever's getting buffed let out tension with a scream, and lightens the mood of everyone else when someone in the group starts howling like an ape because loud is funny
This was when scream-theory was solidified in science. One person was a strong thesis but now that it's two different people, y'know. Twice is a science that's what we all say.
Plus, the fact that it works between someone as existentially-chaotic as Jerma, and also someone as sure as four. If screaming can cover all those differences, it _must_ be foolproof.
I fucking love all of these callbacks to skits you've done in the past. Not just do they make me remember all of those fun moments, the fact you still pull them off so hilariously today shows it was always you and your comedic sense, not just "tf2 funny". Keep rocking ster.
