I know Kirwara very well. In fact I went to Kirwara boys high school years ago. Jogoo kimakia Lodge is owned by a man whose name was Dedan Njoroge Nduati who owned more than 50 buses plying Murang'a Thika to Nairobi route. I went to school with one of his sons called Mwangi. You can see him on TV, he is the chairman of Restaurants and bars association especially in Murang'a and Thika. You forgot to mention other kikuyu musicians from Gatanga, some very popular like John Ndichu from Gatunyu, Wamumbe, Kariuki wa Kiarutara which is also from Gatura in Gatanga and of course James Makibi from Gatunyu. You also forgot to mention about Liz Wanyoike, she is from gatanga right before you get to Kirwara. She is very popular and the owner NIBS college and Lizzie preparatory school and also Emory hotel in Kileleshwa.

The early 1980 Jogoo Kimakia buses were known as Nissan UD.
    UD stood for Uniflow Diesel.
The engine power unit was a two stroke diesel engine which made uphill task a walk in the park and made the then caball and Mitsubishi canter box-body matatus at a disadvantage.

Rwara means cliff or steep slope. Kirwara means a big cliff or extensive steep slope. Check for that in the area.

Gatanga is a corruption of the name Katanga of drcongo as much as Gathanji next to gatanga corresponds to Kasanje next to Katanga back in drc.the music angle perhaps.these fellows are clearly Congolese, even in looks
